Lot 317 317 1863 : 'Bell's Life Race Card, Victoria Turf Club Spring Meeting. Friday 20th November 1863', the third running of the Melbourne Cup, won by Banker. Some edge faults, and winners marked with an "X". [Archer won the first two Melbourne Cups, but his nomination for 1863 was rejected after his entry form was received too late. The 1863 race had the smallest field in the Cup's history with only 7 horses, after several horses were scratched in sympathy with Etiene de Mestre's champion Archer being ruled out].
