Simon Franglen SIMON FRANGLEN BIO Simon Franglen is a Grammy-winning and Golden Globe-nominated composer, arranger and music producer. He served as arranger and synth programmer on scores for four of the top grossing films of all time (Avatar, Titanic, Skyfall and Spectre), and his credits include six of the best-selling pop albums of all time. He received a Grammy Award for Record of the Year for his production on the smash hit “My Heart Will Go On” from James Cameron's Titanic, and received Golden Globe, Grammy Award and World Soundtrack Award nominations for co- writing and producing the theme song “I See You” from Cameron’s Avatar. Upcoming projects include co-composing the score for director Antoine Fuqua’s The Magnificent Seven, which he completed following the tragic death of his long-time colleague and friend, composer James Horner. He and Horner collaborated for the past several years on the music for Disney World’s upcoming Avatar World, a highly-anticipated, immersive attraction scheduled to open in 2017. He has written music for Terrence Malick’s astonishing Voyage of Time to be released late 2016. Other projects include a groundbreaking immersive suite for four orchestras, choir and bells to be premiered in 3D at the top of the 2000ft high Shanghai Tower at the end of 2016. Franglen has worked for decades as an arranger, programmer and producer with many of Hollywood’s leading composers including John Barry, Howard Shore, Thomas Newman, Alan Silvestri and most notably James Horner, with whom he worked for nearly twenty years. Franglen contributed to projects as diverse as creating the disturbing electronica for David Fincher’s seminal Se7en, producing the vocals for Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge and scoring One Direction’s chart topping 3D concert film This is Us. With over four hundred music credits, Franglen also has worked with an array of pop, RnB and classical artists including Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Celine Dion, Luciano Pavarotti and Madonna. He had a very successful decade-long relationship with David Foster. During the 1990’s, Franglen’s credits included a quarter of the US Billboard No.1 records during a single five-year period. Franglen is a visiting professor at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and a Guest Professor at the China National Academy of Art. • 2017 and Will Not Have Begun Principal Photography During This Calendar Year
The Black List was compiled from the suggestions of over 275 film executives, each of whom contributed the names of up to ten favorite scripts that were written in, or are somehow uniquely associated with, 2017 and will not have begun principal photography during this calendar year. This year, scripts had to receive at least six mentions to be included on the Black List. All reasonable effort has been made to confirm the information contained herein. The Black List apologizes for all misspellings, misattributions, incorrect representation identification, and questionable 2017 affiliations. It has been said many times, but it’s worth repeating: The Black List is not a “best of” list. It is, at best, a “most liked” list. They don’t understand What it means to me Where we chose to go Where we’ve been to know. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PRESS CONTACT: Jasmine Jiang, 775.848.7171 [email protected] ROUND HOUSE THEATRE ANNOUNCES SPRING 2021 PRODUCTIONS VIRTUAL SEASON CONCLUDES WITH THREE FULLY STAGED SOLO STORIES ABOUT COMING OF AGE, FINDING COMMUNITY, AND CELEBRATING LIFE, PLUS EXPANSION OF FREE COMMUNITY ACCESS TICKET PROGRAM Bethesda, Md. (February 10, 2021) – Round House Theatre announces three virtual productions to conclude its 43rd season. The Spring 2021 Season offers three moving, one- person performances: Colman Domingo’s A Boy and His Soul, directed by Craig Wallace; Lucy Alibar’s Throw Me on the Burnpile and Light Me Up, directed by Round House Artistic Director Ryan Rilette; and Young Jean Lee’s We’re Gonna Die, directed by Paige Hernandez. All three productions will be filmed live on the Round House stage and available for on- demand streaming during limited runs. See page 3 for full season programming details. Artistic Director Ryan Rilette reflects on the 2020-2021 Season, stating, “This season, Round House—like so many of our peer institutions—has had to try new things, explore new ways of making art, and figure out how to build a sense of community in a world where we are unable to gather physically. The second half of our season focuses on three solo performances. In this moment when we’re all trapped in our own individual homes and our own individual realities, we hope these remarkable, deeply personal individual performances by celebrated local actors can bridge that divide and return to us a sense of the togetherness we all so deeply miss.

  • CPD Film Company Resource List
Company List Film/ Entertainment Before You Begin Use this list of companies to begin your internship or job search in the entertainment industry. The list is broad and includes companies in film and television (development, production, distribution, equipment, agencies), animation, advertising, and more. As you review the list, consider your internship or job search strategy. If you’re searching for an internship, you will have a shorter, targeted list. If you’re searching for full-time employment, you may want to consider creating a list of your favorite companies, a list of companies that you would enjoy working at, and an alternate company list. We advise exploring and applying to opportunities at all of the companies on your list. Take this scenario You’ve just graduated from ArtCenter with a BFA or MFA in Film and your concentration was cinematography. • Plan A Your main goal is to apply to freelance Director of Photography roles that you find through Staff Me Up, Mandy, Industry Facebook groups, ArtCenter Connect, or personal references. Initially, you may not generate enough income to pay for all of your expenses, in which case you’ll need to look for additional part-time or full-time work. • Plan B In order to support yourself while you’re building your freelance career, you apply to administrative roles at below-the- line agencies that represent cinematographers. While working at a below-the-line agency, you’ll likely make valuable contacts who can offer career advice. However, these positions are also hard to land, so it’s important to research additional opportunities.

Academy Award ® nominee Bryan Cranston, acclaimed actor and comedian Kevin Hart, and Academy Award ® Winner Nicole Kidman come together in STXfilms and Lantern Entertainment’s THE UPSIDE, an inspirational comedy based on the true-life friendship and lifelong bond forged between a wealthy man with quadriplegia and the ex-con he hires as his live- in care giver. Directed by Neil Burger (The Illusionist, Limitless), with a screenplay by Jon Hartmere, THE UPSIDE chronicles the unexpected friendship between Phillip Lacasse (Cranston), a Park Avenue billionaire left paralyzed after a paragliding accident, and ex-con Dell Scott (Kevin Hart), in need of a fresh start. Newly paroled and in desperate need of a job, Dell is frustrated by the menial opportunities available to an ex-con. After finding himself at the wrong job interview Dell uses his irreverent charisma to charm Phillip, who, despite protests from his chief-of-staff Yvonne (Nicole Kidman), offers him the home aid position. Despite a rocky start, the two quickly realize how much they can learn from each other’s experiences. From worlds apart, Phillip and Dell form an unlikely bond, bridging their differences and gaining invaluable wisdom in the process, giving each man a renewed sense of passion for all of life’s possibilities. 1 FILMMAKER’S VISION THE UPSIDE is inspired by the 2011 box office hit French film Les Intouchables.
