During the period under report, the University made significant progress on all fronts. Committed to academic reforms, the University is making proactive efforts to develop and implement innovative curricular frame work and the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) has been implemented in most of our academic programmes from the academic year 2017-18. The research programmes are equally innovative and qualitative. Conscious of its responsibility to create a culture of excellence, the University has been proactively promoting merit, objectivity and transparency in all its activities / processes that enthuse confidence amongst all its stakeholders. As a part of its endeavors, MRIIRS organized several high quality academic activities including conferences / symposia / workshops in the year 2017-18 with the objective of bringing together eminent persons and scholars in various fields and to provide suitable forum for exchange of ideas that seek to push the boundaries of overall development of the University. While teaching is the primary focus and mainstay of the University, a conscious effort has been made to promote culture of research, publication, innovation and participation in seminars, symposia, conferences etc by creating a conducive and enabling environment. It gives me immense pride to bring on record that majority of the faculty members presented papers, delivered key note addresses, chaired sessions, delivered lectures and talks, attended conferences and workshops and published papers in journals, many of repute. The Annual Report basically reflects the outcome of sincere efforts made by the faculty members and other supporting and administrative staff. I put on record my appreciation for each one of them. I shall be failing in my duty if I do not mention the support and cooperation that University received from the Management, in particular and from all the members of the Statutory Bodies of the University Authorities like, Board of Management, Academic Council, Planning & Monitoring Board, and Finance Committee for giving their valuable time and for their continuous guidance and encouragement. Special thanks are also due to the senior administrative functionaries of the University for their untiring efforts. Dr. N.C. Wadhwa Vice Chancellor 4 From the Pro Vice-Chancellor’s Desk Being aware of the radical changes taking place in the economy, the MRIIRS strives to groom future professionals who are ready to accept any kind of challenges and moving abreast with the growing competition. The university enjoys unparalleled reputation amongst all stake holders i.e. its students and their parents, employers or community at large and the excellent performance of its students across the industry has enabled the university to maintain its strong brand image. It is with great pleasure that we present the Annual Report of 2017-18 of Manav Rachna International Institute of Research & Studies. The academic year 2017-18 was one of growth and optimism for MRIIRS. In the following pages, you’ll come to learn more about the outstanding accomplishments of our faculty and students—and the impact of their work on campus in MRIIRS and beyond. The university has dedicated faculty and staff working in highly motivating environment and I am confident that the university will attain new standards and milestones of quality in its pursuit of growth and excellence. The Report presents the highlights of activities and achievements of the University during the year 2017-18. We at MRIIRS intend to ensure implementation of healthy practices and continuously improve the standards. We remain earnest to deliver an honest and transparent report that lists attainments and constraints. We are open for suggestions. We believe in Rigvedic hymn “आ आआ आआआआआआ आआआआआआ आआआआआ आआआआआआआ” (Let noble thoughts come to us from every side) I am sure these suggestions will guide us in the pursuance of global standards of excellence in endeavours including teaching, research, and quality education. Thanks to the JCCE for creating a fantastic opportunity for any artist focused on public engagement and beautification! As a resident of Ventura County, I have long had a relationship with Santa Barbara regarding art and local history. I have been a 21 year contributor to the I Madonnari Festival at the Old Mission, creating large scale ephemeral pastel murals for the public. This festival gave me my 'start' in public philanthropic works, which I carried onwards as my career of choice. Prior to the discovery of street painting I enjoyed a career in mural painting, creating original works in a variety of painting traditions for large hospitality and commercial properties. I continue to work in this capacity on select projects. My husband Sayak Mitra is an art practitioner from Kolkata, India, who has relocated to Ventura, in hopes of expanding his art career while making a new life here in the US. A gifted designer /artist, he has shown his work throughout India and is a regular contributor to the Kolkata art community.
