Pozivu MDC-a za sudjelovanje na zajedni čkoj izložbi odazvalo se 96 muzeja iz 57 gradova i 21 županije. Ovogodišnji veliki odaziv muzeja pokazatelj je kontinuirane potrebe i nastojanja muzejskih baštinskih ustanova za iskorakom iz zatvorenih muzejskih prostora i za približavanjem širokoj publici. Brojnost novih publikacija objavljenih u protekloj godini pak upu ćuje na gra đu i djelatnosti koje zaslužuju pozornost i prezentaciju. Neposredni kontakt s izloženim muzejskim publikacijama potkrijepit ćemo i nekim zanimljivim broj čanim podacima: publikacije je dostavilo 96 muzeja, od čega je 47 op ćih muzeja, 44 specijalizirana muzeja, 2 muzejske zbirke, 2 muzejske udruge i MDC jednogodišnji muzejski izdava čki korpus obuhva ća 502 publikacije i 185 plakata objavljenih u razdoblju od listopada 2001. do listopada 2002. broj novih naslova proteže se od 25 do 1 publikacije po muzeju u prosjeku je objavljeno nešto više od 5 publikacija po muzeju (5,23) na elektroni čkome mediju (CD-ROM-u) objavljeno je 9 publikacija s obzirom na vrstu, najzastupljeniji su katalozi izložaba (417 publikacija), slijede ih periodi čne publikacije - časopisi, zbornici, bibliografije (23), monografije i studije (19), katalozi stalnih postava (13), muzejski vodi či (6) i informativni letci (6), programi doga đanja (6), katalozi muzejskih zbirki (4), izvješ ća (3), studije, kritike i eseji (3). S obzirom na tematiku, u ovogodišnjoj izdava čkoj produkciji najzastupljenije su likovne izložbe - pojedina čne i skupne, me đunarodne i nacionalne, doma ćih i stranih autora, amatera i profesionalaca, starijih i suvremenih naraštaja, novih i retrospektivnih opusa. Kad bismo zbrojili publicirane stranice, hrvatsko bi izdavaštvo bilo oboga ćeno jednim novim tomom likovne enciklopedije! U mnogo manjem broju zastupljene su izložbe arheološke, povijesne, etnografske, prirodoslovne i tehni čke tematike. Takvom monotematskom orijentacijom muzejske su ustanove više pozornosti pridale galerijskim djelatnostima i promociji likovnih umjetnosti, a mnogo manje svojim muzejskim - skuplja čkim, konzervatorskim, istraživa čkim, znanstvenim i edukativnim aktivnostima. Rezultate znanstvenoga i stru čnog rada na muzejskoj gra đi i kulturnoj baštini muzeji su nastavili objavljivati u svojim periodi čkim publikacija koje su znatan doprinos širokoj lepezi lokalno- povijesnih istraživanja ( Godišnjak grada Kor čule 7, Gradski muzej Kor čula; Godišnjak Gradskog muzeja Sisak 2; Senjski zbornik 28, Senjsko muzejsko društvo i Gradski muzej Senj) ili pak pojedinih specijaliziranih, znanstvenih podru čja ( Histria Archaeologica : časopis Arheološkog muzeja Istre 30/1999.; Diadora : glasilo Arheološkoga muzeja u Zadru 20/2000.; Ethnologica Dalmatica 10 Etnografskog muzeja u Splitu; Vjesnik za arheologiju i historiju dalmatinsku 93/2000. Arheološkog muzeja u Splitu; Anali Galerije Antuna Augustin čića 13/14, 15; Vjesnik Arheološkog muzeja u Zagrebu 34; Natura Croatica : časopis Hrvatskoga prirodoslovnoga muzeja god. 10. i 11.; Vijesti muzealaca i konzervatora 1/2002. Hrvatskoga muzejskog društva; Informatica Museologica 32, br. 1/2, 3/4 2001.; Izvješ ća hrvatskih muzeja : 2001 .; Izvješ ća zagreba čkih muzeja : 2001. Muzejskoga dokumentacijskog centra, 2002.). Najnovija muzejska elektroni čka izdanja naj češ će su izdavana usporedno i s jednakim sadržajem kao u tiskanome mediju, ali oboga ćena višejezi čnim izbornicima, kao i multimedijskim sadržajima. Realizirana su kao rezultat dugogodišnjega profesionalnog rada na obradi i dokumentaciji muzejskih fundusa ( Ivan Meštrovi ć Atelijer Meštrovi ć, Zagreb : Fundacija Ivana Meštrovi ća, 2001.), kao katalozi velikih izložbenih projekata (Split Maruli ćeva doba : izložba povodom 500. obljetnice nastanka Judite, Split : Muzej grada Splita, 2001.; Hrvati i Karolinzi , Split : Muzej hrvatskih arheoloških spomenika, 2001.), katalozi povremenih izložaba ( Otok : Galerija Arsenal, Muzej hvarske baštine, 2002.; Plakati Zagreba čkog zbora , Zagreb : Kabinet grafike HAZU, 2002.; Vjenceslav Richter : retrospektiva grafika : Kabinet grafike HAZU, Zagreb, listopad 2002.), obljetni čarska izdanja ( Dvadeset godina - od Muzejskog prostora do Galerije Klovi ćevi dvori , Zagreb : Galerija Klovi ćevi dvori, 2002.) ili kao znanstvenopopularni i edukativni projekti s podru čja prirodne baštine ( Ptice rije čkog podru čja , Rijeka : Prirodoslovni muzej, 2002.; Želite li stvarnost ili mit? : pri ča o bjeloglavom supu , Zagreb : Hrvatski prirodoslovni muzej, 2002.). Publiciranjem muzejskih zbirki i stalnih postava (Muzej Staro selo Kumrovec, Gradski muzej Karlovac, Muzej Slavonije u Osijeku, Hrvatski školski muzej, Hrvatski povijesni muzej i Muzej za umjetnost i obrt u Zagrebu), donacija (Muzej grada Zagreba) i akvizicija (Moderna galerija Rijeka, Muzej grada Rijeke), arheoloških istraživanja i lokaliteta (Arheološki muzej Istre u Puli, Arheološki muzej u Zagrebu), etnografske baštine i obi čaja (Gradski muzej Vinkovci, Muzej Me đimurja Čakovec), prirodnih obilježja (Hrvatski prirodoslovni muzej, Muzej Turopolja u Velikoj Gorici) i kulturnih znamenitosti teme su unutar kojih su se muzeji predstavili kao čuvari i promicatelji kulturne baštine. Kao i prijašnjih godina, i ovu 21. izložbu popratili smo popisom svih publikacija (monografskih i serijskih publikacija, sitnog tiska, kalendara, plakata, razglednica) dostavljenih za potrebe izložbe, kao i podacima iz središnje knjižni čne baze podataka MCD-a.
