WHATS NEW: Additional photos are included in this document that were not in the Warbonnet article. theWarbonnet Second Quarter 2007 cover Left - Santa Fe's SD45-2 fleet was in its prime when four high-speed SD45-2s were assigned to its high- priority premium service trains in the mid-1970s. ATSF SD45-2 5696, approaching Summit, CA December 12, 1975 on the south main track of Santa Fe's LOS ANGELES DIVISION FIRST DISTRICT, leads the 5708 and two other SD45-2s on the eastbound 891 Train Super C . ATSF 5696 is one of the high- speed units from the second order, and on the LOS ANGELES DIVISION, trains 198 and 891 were authorized to operate at passenger train speed, but not exceed 79 MPH. The 891 Train departed LA Hobart Yard at 9:30A, San Bernardino at 11:30A, and is due in Barstow at 1:15P (Departure/arrival times from Freight Train Schedule in AT&SF COAST LINES LOS ANGELES DIVISION TIME TABLE No. 2 IN EFFECT Sunday, April 27, 1975 ). - Kodachrome by Ralph Back.
