The main tourism statistics, tourism competitiveness index are presented and analyzed in the article. The article discusses the main types of tourism that may be developed in Armenia such as religious, historical-cultural, spa-resort, eco- and agri-, sport and adventure, gastronomic, urban, educational, scientific, medical tourism. Although the growth of tourism in recent years, there are still many problems that hinder the promotion of tourism. The tourism statistics, marketing policy, legislation must be improved. Besides, the educational system must meet the requirements of the labor market. Tourist specialists must have all the skills for tourism industry development. Thus, the main problems are revealed and the trends and ways of tourism development are analyzed in the article. We will also visit Matenadaran, which means a "book-depository" in old Armenian. Indeed, Matenadaran is the pride of Armenian culture, the world's largest storage of ancient manuscripts. Geghard Monastery carved out of a huge monolithic rock. Geghard is an incredible ancient Armenian monastery, partly carved out of a mountain. It is said that the Holy Lance that pierced the body of Christ was kept here. The architectural forms and the decoration of Geghard’s rock premises show that Armenian builders could not only create superb works of architecture out of stone, but also hew them in solid rock. It is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. • Garni From Geghard it is 11km to Garni Temple. Garni Pagan Temple, the only Hellenistic temple in the Caucasus. Gracing the hillside the temple was dedicated to the God of Sun, Mithra and comprises also royal palace ruins, Roman Baths with a well preserved mosaic. Lunch in Garni also Master class of traditional Armenian bread “lavash” being baked in tonir (ground oven). The preparation, meaning and appearance of traditional bread as an expression of culture in Armeniahas been inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. • Sevan Visit to Sevan Lake which is 80 km from Garni temple. Sevan Lake is the largest lake in Armenia and the Caucasus region. With an altitude of 1,900 meters above sea level, it’s one of the highest lakes in the world. The name Sevan is of Urartian origin, and is derived of Siuna, meaning county of lakes. -

There is no good news for naturists in that report. The PP has clearly taken the side of the Concerned Citizens and has given the Ray Nkonyeni Local Municipality (previously Hibiscus Coast Municipality) only 60 days to reconsider the decision regarding the Mpenjati Naturist Beach. According to the PP, the Municipality approved the nudist friendly beach before making its own application to the Department of the Environmental Affairs, KwaZulu Natal Ezemvelo Wildlife and they must also approach the Office of the KwaZulu Natal MEC: Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs. The PP also recommends that the Municipality must consult the Chairman of the Commission for the Promotion and Protection of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (CRL) for “proper guidance and assistance in handling of this matter”. -

European Union Water Initiative Plus for Eastern Partnership Countries (EUWI+) Results 2 & 3 DEVELOPMENT OF A RIVER BASIN MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR HRAZDAN RIVER BASIN CONSULTATION ON THE PROGRAMME OF MEASURES APPENDIX 1 ANALYSIS OF QUESTIONNAIRES FOR LOCAL SELF-GOVERNMENT BODIES Version 1, 28 September 2020 APPENDIX 1 ANALYSIS OF THE HRAZDAN BASIN PUBLIC CONSULTATION QUESTIONNAIRES FOR LOCAL SELF-GOVERNMENT BODIES EUWI+ PROJECT: "COMMUNICATION ASSISTANCE TO SUPPORT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE ACTION PLAN FOR PARTICIPATIVE RBM PLANNING IN ARMENIA" Within the framework of the European Union Water Initiative Plus (EUWI+) programme, the process of developing Hrazdan and Sevan basin management plans started in 2018. The process of public discussion and consultation of the Hrazdan Basin Management Plan took place from 20 June to 20 August 2020. The Water Basin Management Plan is a guidance document developed as a result of collaboration between different stakeholders, offering common solutions to meet the needs of all water users, taking into account also the needs of the environment. Public participation plays a key role in the management plan development process. Questionnaires were used as a key tool in the public discussion and consulting process, through which expert opinions and information were collected to make additions to the water basin management plan. The questionnaires were disseminated through Gegharkunik Marzpetaran, the official website of the Ministry of Environment of the RA, the official website of EUWI+, the social networks of the CWP, as well as various CSO networks. The questionnaire was filled in by local self-government bodies (LSGB) representing 52 communities (57 questionnaires) and by non-governmental stakeholders in the basin – 134 questionnaires .A total of 191 questionnaires were completed. -

Present-day Armenia is bounded by Georgia to the north, Iran to the south-east, Azerbaijan to the east and Turkey to the west. From 1920 to 1991 Armenia was a Soviet Socialist Republic within the USSR, but historically its land encompassed a much greater area including parts of all present-day bordering countries (see fig.). At its greatest extent it occupied the plateau covering most of what is now central and eastern Turkey (c. 300,000 sq. km) bounded on the north by the Pontic Range and on the south by the Taurus and Kurdistan mountains. During the 11th century another Armenian state was formed to the west of Historic Armenia on the Cilician plain in south-east Asia Minor, bounded by the Taurus Mountains on the west and the Amanus (Nur) Mountains on the east. Its strategic location between East and West made Historic or Greater Armenia an important country to control, and for centuries it was a battlefield in the struggle for power between surrounding empires. Periods of domination and division have alternated with centuries of independence, during which the country was divided into one or more kingdoms.
