ABOUT THE PROJECT

“EduStorytelling” aims at addressing the digital skills and literacy gap affecting European adults coming from disadvantaged backgrounds through the methodology of Digital Storytelling (DST) as a pathway to develop high-quality digital and literacy skills and competencies. It will improve attitudes of peer-interaction and cooperative learning, forming part of a comprehensive digital literacy in order to foster personal development, active citizenship and employability perspectives.

Participants involved in the project will have a medium or good level of digital and literacy skillsand will be social workers with previous experience in training adult people. They will participate inthe project to undertake an upskilling path to improve digital and transversal skills employing the DST methodology. They will acquire self-confidence and motivation in order to foster proactive attitudes when working with disadvantaged groups.

EST rationale stems from the trend of fast-paced evolution in ICT technologies and digital instruments, triggering a continuous, open-ended re-thinking of established models of social interaction, participation, education, business and employability. The ownership of a set of good literacy and digital skills has become a discriminating factor of employability and of effective exercise citizenship rights.

In addition to being a learner-centred instrument of education tailored to the needs of groupsfacing impairments in traditional learning (i.e. migrants, low-skilled adults), DST enhancesemotional interest and cognitive attention through the inspirational potential of stories. DST is alsoa powerful instrument for teachers to stimulate learners to reflect, self-assess and disclose theirindividual skills and learning achievements through captivating media narratives (digital stories, photo CVs etc.).

The objectives of the project are:

To explore the educational potential of DST as an innovative instrument for enhancing digitalcompetences of EU citizens, in continuity with the rationale of the EU Digital Competences Framework for Citizens. To develop a cross-border and cross sector synergy with the purpose of creating innovative models of Storytelling education tailored to the needs of Adult learners. To establish a wider community of Storytelling practitioners using MOOC course andinteracting with their peers. Who Can Apply?

The TC will take place as a Blended Event, both face-to-face and online, and it will involve 30 Adult Educators / Trainers (5 per partner organisation) aged 35-55.

Profile: Adult Educators/Trainers with at least one year of experience. Adult Educators/Trainers and practitioners with teaching experience with Adult learners coming from disadvantaged backgrounds, such as rural areas, suburbs or migrants; Trainers involved in Adult Education and needing an upskilling path to improve their digital skills;

Selection will be carried out by the home organizations in compliance with non- discrimination and gender-balance terms. No sex will be represented by more than 3 individuals in each national group. A Facebook Group will be established wherein participants will be invited alongside the organizers for constant communication prior to the activity. During the activities, participants’ involvement will be guaranteed through Daily Evaluation sessions at the end of each day and a Final Evaluation at the end of the TC.

MV International (MVI) is a network of 37 European NGOs and 8 associate organizations from Africa (Cameroon, Uganda, Kenya and Senegal), Latin America (Argentina and Peru) and Asia (India and China) aimed promoting the exchange of knowledge among professionals in the field of European design. ENGO MVI is a global platform open to organisations working within the field of Youth, Non Formal Education, Sport and Culture. Created in 2012, MVI is today a global actor closely cooperating with its 37 member organizations, international NGOs, and public and private sector stakeholders. To fulfill these objectives, MVI concentrates on three key areas: project activities, education and policy-making/advocacy efforts ABOUT THE CITY

The project will take place in STINTINO, which is 38.5 km far from Sassari and around 45.6 km from Alghero. Stintino is a small town on the northwest tip of the Italian island Sardinia. Its fine-sand beaches include La Pelosa, with clear, shallow waters, and the smaller Pelosetta, with views of Piana Island and Asinara National Park. Torre della Pelosa, built in 1578, is a tower on a nearby islet. In town, the Museo della Tonnara has multimedia exhibits, photos and boat replicas exploring the local tuna-fishing heritage.

HOW TO REACH STINTINO ?

There are 3 airports close by, so you can choose which one suits you the best. Our advice is to fly to Alghero airport because getting to the Stintino will be easier.

From Alghero Airport: You can take bus line nr 2604 Sardabus Di Addis Francesco, in the right side next to the exit of airport. You can buy the tickets in the airport or in the bus. It is more convenient to buy it from the ticket vending machine inside the airport (close to arrivals) because on the bus, you should pay the additional charge +1,00€. Bus timetable: https://www.sardabus.it/nur2.html From Olbia Airport: You can take the bus line 5302 Sun Lines S.R.L. which goes from Olbia airport to PORTO TORRES PORTO CIVICO-P.VERDE (once daily at 16:30) and after take the ARST Spa bus, line 727 from PORTO TORRES PORTO CIVICO-P.VERDE to Stintino.

From Cagliari Airport: There are two ways to reach the Stintino, by bus and by train. By train: You can take the train from Cagliari airport to Porto Torres M.Ma, after walk 6 min and take the bus line 727 which goes for Stintino. By bus: From the airport you can take the bus line 9 (every 20 minutes) to go to Matteotti and change the bus which goes to Aeroporto Fertilia Alghero, from the Alghero airport you can take the bus line nr 2604 Sardabus Di Addis Francesco.

Sardinia boasts a beautifully warm Mediterranean climate with long, hot summers and coastal temperatures. The island is renowned for its six-month summer' which means that the sea can be warm enough for swimming from May until October (Temperatures in Summer: 30º+). Good to know:

In Italy the unit of currency is Euro (€). It is not convenient to go to currency exchange offices at the airport because their exchange rates are higher. You can exchange money in exchange offices in the city, postal offices and banks which generally offer the best rates. We recommend you to bring enough cash because credit cards are not always accepted, for instance in small establishments. In Italy we have two types of three-pin earthed rear entry plugs: one has 4 mm in diameter pins while the other 5 mm in diameter pins. Don’t forget to bring a universal adapter. It is better not to drink water from the sink. It is not usual to call a taxi by waving your hands in the street. You should call the dedicated number and ask for a taxi or go to the designated taxi stations recognizable by an orange sign. Usually, shops close at lunchtime (around 13:00/13:30) and reopen in the afternoon (between 16:00 and 17:00) and close around 20:00 or 20:30. Some shops or supermarkets do not do the lunch break. If you order a latte at the bar, they will bring you a simple glass of white milk. The tip at the restaurant is not mandatory; it is at the discretion of the client, because the service is already included in the meals’ price. At the restaurant, you will pay "coperto". It is a cost you pay for the occupation of the table (setting of the table, use of the cutlery, bread, and cleaning of the table). When you are at the restaurant, ask for the bill and they will bring it to your table. Lunch: approximately from 12:30 to 15:00. Dinner: approximately from 19:30 to 22:30. Breakfast: typical Italian breakfast is sweet, usually with milk and coffee and a croissant. Remember to bring all necessary documents (ID card, passport, visa, etc) with you.
