THE PROPERTY – STUDIO C

Studio C is a three-room apartment with access to a private toilet and shower and a dining area, kitchen and terrace to be shared with guests staying in the other Studios, all located on the second floor of the famous Palais Auersperg in Vienna. The rooms comprise:

 one room with a desk, two chairs, one coffee table, one double sofa bed and one wardrobe;  one common room with a table, four chairs and one bench;  one room with two separate single beds, one wardrobe, one desk, two chairs and one small coffee table.

The rooms are interconnecting and cannot be locked individually. They are therefore only suitable for one group of up to four people. Due to the nature of the layout, we cannot offer Studio C to separate bookings.

The bathroom and the shower room are located across the corridor from the rooms and are for the exclusive use of NARPO guests, although one has to cross the corridor which is part of the communal areas.

The kitchen, dining area and terrace are shared between NARPO members and any other guests who may be staying in Studios A and B reserved for company guests. In total (Studios A, B and C) the area can accommodate a maximum of four NARPO guests and four company guests.

GUIDE FOR GUESTS STUDIO C, TRAUTSONGASSE 1, 1080 VIENNA

While Studio C has been significantly modernised, it is located in the historic Palais Auersperg which was made to the standards of earlier ages. Consequently, you may encounter features that reflect this but which deserve due care and attention, particularly for the young, elderly, less mobile or visually impaired. The apartment is located on the second floor of the building and as such one has to go up 68 steps to reach the apartment. There are three flights of original, uneven stone stairs to access the Studio C from ground floor and there is no lift. NARPO members are kindly requested to consider carefully their suitability to stay in such a property as no alternative accommodation is available if Studio C proves to be unsuitable to a particular guest’s needs.

If coming back at night, please remember to turn the stair lights on before climbing the steps [switches are located to the right of the main entrance].

Once inside the second floor complex there is a brand new shared kitchen on your left with all modern appliances, two fridges, oven, hob, microwave, kettle etc. There is also a smart dining table and four chairs. Please note this is a shared space and may be used by residents of the other two apartments. There is a small sitting room with two armchairs and a TV to play DVD’s [no TV reception] and a further room with a large table and four chairs. Again these are shared with residents of the other two apartments.

The Studio consists of a ‘bedroom’ with two single beds a wardrobe and table and two chairs, adjacent to that is a ‘dining’ room with a large table and four chairs leading into a sitting area with a large corner sofa [converts into a double bed], plenty wardrobe space and an office table and chair. The studio is painted white and is modern and business like. Across the corridor is a separate toilet with wash basin and separate shower room with wash basin. Both are modern and fully tiled although you have to exit the Studio to reach them. These are exclusively for use of those in Studio C.

The apartment has free Wi-Fi for residents

VIENNA

Vienna, ’s capital, lies in the country’s east on the Danube River. Its artistic and intellectual legacy was shaped by residents including Mozart, Beethoven and Sigmund Freud. The city is also known for its Imperial palaces, including Schönbrunn, the Habsburgs’ summer residence. In the MuseumsQuartier district, historic and contemporary buildings display works by Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt and other artists.

The elegant Ring Road around the Innere Stadt district features government and public buildings including the 18th-century Burgtheater, where the presents numerous productions yearly and hosts the annual Vienna Opera , one of a series of glittering city events. The Hofburg Imperial Palace has lavish Habsburg apartments and hosts displays by the Spanish Riding School’s renowned Lipizzaner stallions. A symbol of the city, Gothic St. Stephen's Cathedral sports a colorful tile roof. The Wiener Riesenrad Ferris wheel in the Prater park has far-reaching rooftop views.

Vienna is a fantastic, beautiful city with many historical buildings, museums, churches to visit. There is a large amusement park for those young at heart and it is extremely worthwhile purchasing the Vienna Sightseeing bus ticket which is a hop on hop off service which takes you to all the main historical landmarks and the amusement park.

Tickets are reasonably priced at 25 euros for 24 hours although would recommend at least the 48 hour pass for 32 hours or the 72 hour pass for 36 euros. 24 hours is not really long enough to see what this magnificent city has to offer. The yellow Vienna sightseeing bus as it had more ‘routes’ and goes further afield, but there is an alternative Big Bus Vienna which is similarly priced.

Prices are pretty similar to those in England it is certainly not as expensive as you may believe.

The restaurants and cafes are numerous, but if you fancy an early or mid-morning breakfast try Café Eiles, just turn left at the top of Trautsongasse and it’s about a 3-4-minute walk. Great coffee and great bacon and eggs!

Also worth a visit is the Café Bellaria opposite the Natural History museum about a 10-minute walk away.

This is an excellent opportunity for NARPO members to experience the delights of this most beautiful city, whether you love history, arts or modern culture Vienna has everything and this apartment is ideally situated to enable you to get the most out of any visit.
