  • St Vincent De Paul Wexford Calling on All Businesses and Householders to Donate Their Old Newspapers
St Vincent de Paul Wexford Calling on all Businesses and Householders to Donate their Old Newspapers St Vincent de Paul has announced a new project; the charity is appealing to the households and businesses of County Wexford to donate old newspapers by bringing them to a local St Vincent de Paul Newspaper Recycling Bin. St Vincent de Paul has partnered with Wexford community enterprise project, Recycling 2000, for this initiative. Recycling 2000 will recycle the newspapers making a donation to St Vincent de Paul for all newspapers collected at the nominated recycling points. All funds generated from this initiative will go directly to helping the people in need within our communities. “We are very excited about this initiative and are confident that the people of Wexford will again get behind us. Our goal is that Recycling 2000 will collect 50% more newspapers than they did last year which will translate into a sizable donation to the St Vincent de Paul.” commented Mary Dempsey, Wexford Area President, Society of St Vincent de Paul. The good work does not end there. Recycling 2000, a community based recycling project has an environmentally friendly ethos. All old newspapers collected will be used to produce environmentally based products. In addition, by sourcing a larger proportion of newspapers locally the level of handling and unnecessary transportation of old newspapers will be significantly reduced, thus reducing the carbon footprint of all involved. “The majority of households and businesses throughout the country are now segregating their waste and have adopted excellent recycling habits. We are now looking for these same people to make one more change and to bring their newspapers to a SVP Newspaper Recycle Bin.

  • A GUIDE to SEA ANGLING in the EASTERN FISHERIES REGION by Norman Dunlop
A GUIDE TO SEA ANGLING IN THE EASTERN FISHERIES REGION by Norman Dunlop Published by; the Eastern Regional Fisheries Board, 15A, Main Street, Blackrock, Co. Dublin. © Copyright reserved. No part of the text, maps or diagrams may be used or copied without the permission of the Eastern Regional Fisheries Board. 2009 Foreword I am delighted to welcome you to the Board’s new publication on sea fishing Ireland’s east and south east coast. Sea angling is available along the entire coastline from Dundalk in County Louth to Ballyteigue Bay in County Wexford. You will find many fantastic venues and a multitude of species throughout the region. Whether fishing from the shore or from a licenced charter boat there is terrific sport to be had, and small boat operators will find many suitable slipways for their vessels. At venues such as Cahore in Co. Wexford small boat anglers battle with fast running Tope, Smoothhound, and Ray. Kilmore Quay in South Wexford is a centre of excellence for angling boasting all types of fishing for the angler. There is a great selection of chartered boats and the facilities for small boat fishing are second to none. Anglers can go reef fishing for Pollack, Wrasse, Cod, and Ling. From springtime onwards at various venues shore anglers lure, fly, and bait fish for the hard fighting Bass, while specialist anglers target summer Mullet and winter Flounder. In recent years black bream have been turning up in good numbers in the Wexford area and this species has recently been added to the Irish specimen fish listing.

Coláiste Bhaile an Droichid Bridgetown College Baile an Droichid Co Loch Garman Bridgetown Co Wexford Y35 R628 PROSPECTUS 2020 - 2021 Príomhoide/Principal: Mr Adrian Power, B Tech Ed (053) 913 52 57 e-mail: [email protected] 1 History Some time after the enactment of the Vocational Education Act in 1930, a small experimental vocational school was established in rented accommodation in Bridgetown village. Enrolment crept up slowly and in the 1960s the need for a permanent post-primary school in the area was fully accepted. So it was that on 18 October 1965, 44 students and five teachers moved from the rented accommodation into a new purpose-built school. The school progressed in leaps and bounds and its facilities were greatly enhanced when two major extensions were completed, the first in 1984 and the second in 2007. To provide for students with autism, a further expansion was required and a purpose-built facility was completed in April 2014. With an annual turnover of some 120 students, the college has 53 teachers, 12 SNAs, 6 ancillary staff, and 4 canteen staff. 2 Management The college is owned and managed by Waterford Wexford Education & Training Board, a statutory body with offices at Ardcavan Business Park, Wexford; telephone (053) 9123799. The principal is responsible to the ETB and the Board of Management for the day to day management of Bridgetown College. The Board of Management is made up of two ETB nominees: Cllr Jim Moore, Chairperson and Cllr Ger Carthy; two Parents Association nominees: Ms Finola Walsh-Harpur and Mr David Doyle, two staff nominees, and a Board of Management nominee: Ms Nessa Murphy.

  • The List of Church of Ireland Parish Registers
THE LIST of CHURCH OF IRELAND PARISH REGISTERS A Colour-coded Resource Accounting For What Survives; Where It Is; & With Additional Information of Copies, Transcripts and Online Indexes SEPTEMBER 2021 The List of Parish Registers The List of Church of Ireland Parish Registers was originally compiled in-house for the Public Record Office of Ireland (PROI), now the National Archives of Ireland (NAI), by Miss Margaret Griffith (1911-2001) Deputy Keeper of the PROI during the 1950s. Griffith’s original list (which was titled the Table of Parochial Records and Copies) was based on inventories returned by the parochial officers about the year 1875/6, and thereafter corrected in the light of subsequent events - most particularly the tragic destruction of the PROI in 1922 when over 500 collections were destroyed. A table showing the position before 1922 had been published in July 1891 as an appendix to the 23rd Report of the Deputy Keeper of the Public Records Office of Ireland. In the light of the 1922 fire, the list changed dramatically – the large numbers of collections underlined indicated that they had been destroyed by fire in 1922. The List has been updated regularly since 1984, when PROI agreed that the RCB Library should be the place of deposit for Church of Ireland registers. Under the tenure of Dr Raymond Refaussé, the Church’s first professional archivist, the work of gathering in registers and other local records from local custody was carried out in earnest and today the RCB Library’s parish collections number 1,114. The Library is also responsible for the care of registers that remain in local custody, although until they are transferred it is difficult to ascertain exactly what dates are covered.
