Miehm, DD (please arrive half hour before) ~ 2 ~ 2400 Industrial Street, Burlington, Ontario L7P 1A5 Pope John Paul II Assembly News May 2014 Faithful Captain’s Message: This year our Assembly joined with the Burlington Knights Councils for the annual Founder’s Day Mass. It was held at St. Patrick’s church in Burlington and was hosted by council 5073. Our colour guard escorted the three priests Father Ray Modeski (Pastor of St. Patrick’s parish), Father Bob Stainsby (Our Assembly Friar), and Friar Reto Davtz (Chaplin of council 5073) for the Mass. This was a great way to celebrate our Founder Venerable Michael J. McGivney with our brother knights from Burlington. On Friday April 4th, 5 of our assembly members came out to support the “40 Days for Life” held at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital (see picture elsewhere in the newsletter). It is encouraging to see the many people that come out regularly to this event and support it with their presence and their prayers. It is making a difference. The annual “March for Life” in Ottawa is on Thursday May 8th. This is an excellent opportunity for us as knights to go and join the ranks to demonstrate our support for the Pro-Life movement and our respect for life from conception to natural death. If you are able to attend please contact either Sir Knight Gary Smith or Sir Knight Jude Malone for coordination of a ride to Ottawa. Last year there were over 20,000 people in attendance on parliament hill and marching on the streets in Ottawa. Each year this attendance number increases and has an impact on the cause. Just a reminder that our annual assembly dinner is on May 3rd. This event is in celebration of both the 5th anniversary of our assembly and also the canonization of Pope John Paul II. If you do not have your tickets, please see me ASAP.
