DC Comics Jumpchain CYOA
DC Comics Jumpchain CYOA CYOA written by [text removed] [text removed] [text removed] cause I didn’t lol The lists of superpowers and weaknesses are taken from the DC Wiki, and have been reproduced here for ease of access. Some entries have been removed, added, or modified to better fit this format. The DC universe is long and storied one, in more ways than one. It’s a universe filled with adventure around every corner, not least among them on Earth, an unassuming but cosmically significant planet out of the way of most space territories. Heroes and villains, from the bottom of the Dark Multiverse to the top of the Monitor Sphere, endlessly struggle for justice, for power, and for control over the fate of the very multiverse itself. You start with 1000 Cape Points (CP). Discounted options are 50% off. Discounts only apply once per purchase. Free options are not mandatory. Continuity === === === === === Continuity doesn't change during your time here, since each continuity has a past and a future unconnected to the Crises. If you're in Post-Crisis you'll blow right through 2011 instead of seeing Flashpoint. This changes if you take the relevant scenarios. You can choose your starting date. Early Golden Age (eGA) Default Start Date: 1939 The original timeline, the one where it all began. Superman can leap tall buildings in a single bound, while other characters like Batman, Dr. Occult, and Sandman have just debuted in their respective cities. This continuity occurred in the late 1930s, and takes place in a single universe. -

Justice League: Origins
JUSTICE LEAGUE: ORIGINS Written by Chad Handley [email protected] EXT. PARK - DAY An idyllic American park from our Rockwellian past. A pick- up truck pulls up onto a nearby gravel lot. INT. PICK-UP TRUCK - DAY MARTHA KENT (30s) stalls the engine. Her young son, CLARK, (7) apprehensively peeks out at the park from just under the window. MARTHA KENT Go on, Clark. Scoot. CLARK Can’t I go with you? MARTHA KENT No, you may not. A woman is entitled to shop on her own once in a blue moon. And it’s high time you made friends your own age. Clark watches a group of bigger, rowdier boys play baseball on a diamond in the park. CLARK They won’t like me. MARTHA KENT How will you know unless you try? Go on. I’ll be back before you know it. EXT. PARK - BASEBALL DIAMOND - MOMENTS LATER Clark watches the other kids play from afar - too scared to approach. He is about to give up when a fly ball plops on the ground at his feet. He stares at it, unsure of what to do. BIG KID 1 (yelling) Yo, kid. Little help? Clark picks up the ball. Unsure he can throw the distance, he hesitates. Rolls the ball over instead. It stops halfway to Big Kid 1, who rolls his eyes, runs over and picks it up. 2. BIG KID 1 (CONT’D) Nice throw. The other kids laugh at him. Humiliated, Clark puts his hands in his pockets and walks away. Big Kid 2 advances on Big Kid 1; takes the ball away from him. -

American Superhero Comics: Fractal Narrative and the New Deal a Dissertation Presented to the Faculty of the College of Arts
American Superhero Comics: Fractal Narrative and The New Deal A dissertation presented to the faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences of Ohio University In partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree Doctor of Philosophy Lawrence W. Beemer June 2011 © 2011 Lawrence W. Beemer. All Rights Reserved. 2 This dissertation titled American Superhero Comics: Fractal Narrative and The New Deal by LAWRENCE W. BEEMER has been approved for the English Department of Ohio University and the College of Arts and Sciences by ______________________________ Robert Miklitsch Professor of English ______________________________ Benjamin M. Ogles Dean, College of Arts and Sciences 3 ABSTRACT BEEMER, LAWRENCE W., Ph.D., June 2011, English American Superhero Comics: Fractal Narrative and The New Deal (204 pp.) Director of Dissertation: Robert Miklitsch Coining the term "fractal narrative," this dissertation examines the complex storytelling structure that is particular to contemporary American superhero comics. Whereas other mediums most often require narrative to function as self-contained and linear, individual superhero comics exist within a vast and intricate continuity that is composed of an indeterminate number of intersecting threads. Identical to fractals, the complex geometry of the narrative structure found in superhero comics when taken as a whole is constructed by the perpetual iteration of a single motif that was established at the genre's point of origin in Action Comics #1. The first appearance of Superman institutes all of the features and rhetorical elements that define the genre, but it also encodes it with the specific ideology of The New Deal era. In order to examine this fractal narrative structure, this dissertation traces historical developments over the last seven decades and offers a close reading Marvel Comics' 2006 cross-over event, Civil War. -

The Blue Smoke Wore a Red Dress
HAWKGIRL In The Blue Smoke Wore a Red Dress By Thomas A. McKean – 10/17/09 http://www.thomasamckean.com Quick Introduction : This is my first attempt at writing a comic book. I realized something while I was writing this. Writing fan fiction is like jumping someone’s fence without permission and then playing in their sandbox. I don’t have a problem in playing in someone else’s sandbox when it comes to writing because, let’s face it; there are some great sandboxes out there that beg to be played in! But Hawkgirl/Shayera Hol/Shiera Hall isn’t one of them. Kendra Saunders? Definitely. Shayera Hol? Not so much! This is my first super-hero story, but it won’t be the last. The reason for this is because I can relate to wearing a mask. Many of our heroes will have a duality component to them. Superman/Clark, Spider-Man/Peter and Batman/Bruce, for example. They are part of two different worlds, yet they belong truly to neither one. As one of the first people acknowledged as being both inside and outside of autism, this is something I can very much relate to in a way I believe few others can. So why Hawkgirl for the first story? The truth? Ummmm, I like her earrings. My thanks to the following people. Bob Ingersoll, Bob Rozakis, Elliot S! Maggin, Gerry Conway, Mindy Newell, Paul Kupperberg, Steve Skeates and Tony Isabella. Most (if not all) of these guys are as much a legend in their field as I am in mine. -

I still kind of love Count Viper, Hawkworld man who was a hero at one point in his long lifespan, and someone Katar fundamentally agreed with in principle if not in method. Very good points! Was totally gonna go in-depth about Hawkworld Annual 1 in the next segment. Lots of material to cover in there - the entry was getting way too long as it was. I'm pretty impressed you read the whole length of the article Hawkworld far. Oh, and while I'm at it Hawkworld a huge Hawkman fan. Great read.
