Alumni Open Forum Quick Resources HOW TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION There are many ways to take action at this moment in time (see attached for some examples). We know that there are many rallies and protests happening across the country. It is your choice to decide how to engage to show your support. As you consider what you would like to do, please take the below into account (more details on each of these here How to Prepare to Protest): 1. Go with people you know and have a protest buddy 2. Maintain social distancing (this is hard at a protest but do your best for your and other’s safety) 3. Wear a mask over your mouth and nose 4. Always dress and pack for the possibility of a riot 5. Pack water and snacks 6. Know the pros and cons to bringing a phone 7. Know the area you are going and be mindful of how you’re getting there 8. Turn off your phone’s location 9. Avoid taking pictures of people’s faces and avoid letting others take pictures of you 10. Be on alert for police corrals (“an action where police surround demonstrators to keep them in a particular place”) 11.
