Ministry of Culture MADHAVPUR MELA ETEN Enlightens-Daily current capsules (Prelims Prominence) – 26th March 2018 Ministry of Culture MADHAVPUR MELA Cultural integration with the North-East under Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat The famous Madhavpur Mela of Gujarat will see its first-ever cultural integration with the North-East The Ministry of Culture is organizing the Madhavpur Mela from 25th to 28th March, 2018 in Madhavpur Ghed, District Porbandar in Gujarat The 4 day ‘utsav will see a vibrant cultural trail of art, dance, music, poetry, story- telling and folk drama from Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and other North-Eastern States with the aim to integrate the rich cultures of the two regions. Enlighten about The Madhavpur Mela The Madhavpur Mela of Gujarat shares its connect to the Mishmi Tribe of Arunachal Pradesh. The Mishmi Tribe traces its ancestry to the legendary King Bhishmak and through him to his daughter Rukmini and Lord Krishna. For the first time ever, the festival will celebrate the immortal journey which Rukmini undertook from Arunachal Pradesh to Gujarat with Lord Krishna Bhismaknagar, located near Roing in the lower Dibang Valley district, also finds mention in Kalika Purana. Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ The entire concept of celebration this year is in the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ campaign of the Prime Minister and symbolizes unity in diversity of the country and establishes the East to West connect All States & Union Territories except West Bengal are participating in the Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat campaign and have been paired for the purpose of exchanges at the level of students, sports and through culture. The first International Exhibition of Graphic Prints Print Biennale India 2018 National Academy of Art, the Lalit Kala Akademi is hosting the first-ever International Print Biennale in the country with a record number of 17 countries taking part in it. The first-ever International Exhibition of Graphic Prints ‘Print Biennale India 2018’ Where Rabindra Bhavan Galleries of the Lalit Kala Akademi New Delhi. Enlighten aboit it - The 1st Print Biennale India, 2018 is an endeavor that is a quest for discovering new artistic trends in printmaking Nationally & Internationally. Printmaking is a means of fine expression. The direct consequence of this was the definition of the role Printmaking was to play in society and the broader and more indirect consequence were the ideological reaction this imposed.” The event comprising a total of 200 original prints are created by Indian and international artists of impeccable competence and is a window view into the giant strides in printmaking that is taking place in India and the world. Rural Development SARAS Aajeevika Mela 2018 Implementing Ministry – Ministry of Rural Development The SARAS AajeevikaMela 2018 in New Delhi is an endeavour of DAY-NRLM to provide to the rural women producers a national platform and an opportunity to showcase their products, and seek buyers, either individuals or bulk buyers for sale nationally / internationally. On this occasion, the Ministry will also be bringing out a directory of the products of all the women who will be showcasing their products in the AajeevikaMela 2018. Cultural programmes are also being organized as a part of the Mela. Some workshops for the women participants for honing their soft skills as well as skills in packaging, managing consumers etc. will be organized during the Mela. Enlighten about DAY-NRLM DeendayalAntyodayaYojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) is one of the flagship programmes of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India to alleviate rural poverty. The programme aims to organize the rural poor women into their own institutions like Self Help Groups and their federations, Producers’ Collectives etc. A major component under DAY-NRLM relates to skilling of rural poor youth for self- employment and wage employment. Environment Earth Hour – 2018 Observed on March 24 from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Earth Hour is also a “part and parcel” of the “Green Good Deeds” movement in which every individual ought to take small, voluntary green actions to protect and conserve the environment and the earth. The World Wide Fund India has made a strong pitch for “Give Up to Give Back Enlighten about Earth Hour Initiated in 2007, Earth Hour is an annual event organized by the World Wildlife Fund that promotes conservation and sustainable energy. During this time, civilians are encouraged to switch off their lights for one hour to help reduce the effect of global warming and raise awareness for climate change and wildlife conservation. State Specific NAIPUNYA RATHAM NAIPUNYA RATHAM or World on Wheels is a multi-utility vehicle which aims to bring technology to remote corners the. It was launched recently in Andhra Pradesh. As part of the Smart village Smart Ward Programme, the Naipunya Rathaams will facilitate and look to improve digital literacy, digital skills and create an awareness on various government schemes that are underway in the new state of Andhra Pradesh.     4 Years Achievements of the Ministry of Culture [2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18] 1. 100 Adarsh Monuments • A total of 100 Adarsh Monuments were identified for providing improved visitor amenities, especially for the physically challenged, besides cleanliness, drinking water, and interpretation centres, cafeteria, souvenir shop, wi-fi, garbage disposal etc. The civic amenities are being augmented at these sites. • 25 ASI sites were launched as “Adarsh Smarak” on 26th December, 2014. (List of 25 Adarsh Monuments at Annexure 1). • ASI has also identified above 25 Adarsh Monuments to provide Wi-Fi facility, which would be available free of cost for the first 30 minutes and thereafter it is chargeable on additional usage. • 75 more Adarsh Monuments protected by ASI have been identified and included in the list of “Adarsh Smarak” and the same are also being included in ‘Swachh Paryatan Mobile App’ launched by the Ministry of Tourism on 24th September 2016. (List of 75 Adarsh Monuments at Annexure 2). 2. ‘Swachh Bharat- Swachh Smarak’ • The ASI has ranked top 25 Adarsh Monuments on the basis of Cleanliness parameters such as amenities like toilets, green lawns, Polythene Free Zone, signage for awareness, disabilities access, drinking water and provision for garbage bins etc. • “Rani ki Vav (Gujarat)” a World Heritage Site has been awarded as the cleanest iconic place in the country. 4 Years Achievements of the Ministry of Culture Page 1 • The Ministry also observes Swachhta Pakhwada twice in a year in the Month of April and September since 2016 to spread awareness about the need and importance of cleanliness in all the domains.

    29 January 2020: PIB Summary & Analysis 1. National Commission for Homoeopathy Bill, 2019 Context: Cabinet approves official amendments in the National Commission for Homoeopathy Bill, 2019. Details: The Union Cabinet has given its approval to the official amendments in the National Commission for Homoeopathy Bill, 2019 for amending the Homoeopathy Central Council (HCC) Act, 1973. At present, the Bill is pending in Rajya Sabha. The amendments intend to ensure necessary regulatory reforms in the field of Homoeopathy education. They will also enable transparency and accountability for protecting the interests of the general public. The bill seeks the establishment of the National Commission for Homoeopathy, which will replace the current regulatory body for homoeopathy, the Homoeopathy Central Council. o The Commission will promote the availability of affordable healthcare services in all parts of the country. Background: The Homoeopathy Central Council (HCC) Act, 1973 was enacted for: o The constitution of a Central Council of Homoeopathy for the regulation of education and practice of Homoeopathy. o The maintenance of a Central Register of Homoeopathy and for matters connected therewith. The broad functions, constitution and regulation-making powers of the Council are identical to those of the Medical Council of India. While the Act provides a solid foundation for the growth of medical education and practice in Homoeopathy, various bottlenecks in the functioning of the Council have been experienced, which has resulted in serious detrimental effects on medical education as well as delivery of quality Homoeopathy healthcare services. 2. Polycrack Plant can be fed with all types of Plastic, Petroleum sludge, Un- segregated MSW (Municipal Solid Waste) with moisture up to 50%, E–Waste, Automobile fluff, Organic waste including bamboo, garden waste etc., and Jatropha fruit and palm bunch. The process is a closed loop system and does not emit any hazardous pollutants into the atmosphere. The combustible, non-condensed gases are re-used for providing energy to the entire system and thus, the only emission comes from the combustion of gaseous fuels. Pre-segregation of waste is not required to reform the waste, It has high tolerance to moisture hence drying of waste is not required. This process will produce energy in the form of Light Diesel Oil which is used to light furnaces. Indian Railways commissions first Waste to Energy Plant based on POLYCRACK technology in Bhubaneswar. The capacity of this Waste to Energy Plant is 500 Kg waste per day. All types of waste including plastic and e-waste will be converted to Light Diesel Oil, which is used to light furnaces. Bio-Rock Bio rock is the name given to the substance formed by electro accumulation of minerals dissolved in seawater on steel structures that are lowered onto the sea bed. The technology works by passing a small amount of electrical current through electrodes in the water. When a positively charged anode and negatively charged cathode are placed on the sea floor, with an electric current flowing between them, calcium ions combine with carbonate ions and adhere to the structure (cathode).
