Ÿþm I C R O S O F T W O R PRESS RELEASE No. 649/2015 Date: 23rd September 2015 2015 GIBRALTAR AUTUMN CULTURE PROGRAMME Gibraltar Cultural Services on behalf of the Ministry of Culture has announced the programme of events for this year’s Autumn Season, from 1st October to the 31st December 2015. The Ministry is delighted to be part of what should be a series of enjoyable musical, dance, dramatic productions and sporting events, and trusts that everyone will find something to their liking. The programme includes well-loved events like the International Art Exhibition, the Literary Festival, the European Dance Championships, the New Year’s Celebrations, amongst many other cultural activities. The Ministry would like to encourage everyone to make the most of what this year’s programme has to offer. The full programme of events is attached. CONVERSION OF A CIVIL PARTNERSHIP INTO MARRIAGE In Gibraltar, the conversion of a Civil Partnership is provided for under the Conversion of a Civil Partnership Rules 2018. It enables a conversion ceremony to be conducted at approved locations outside the Registry and outside working hours and at weekends. 2. GENERAL CONDITIONS In order to convert your civil partnership into a marriage, you must be able to satisfy the Registrar that: (a) The civil partnership previously registered has not been dissolved or annulled in Gibraltar or any other jurisdiction; (b) You wish to change this civil partnership into a marriage; (c) You understand the nature of marriage and are capable of consenting to change your civil partnership into marriage; and (d) You believe that all the information and evidence given for the purpose of the conversion declaration is true.

La primera fase, que consistió en pintar, colocar una moqueta y sillas nuevas, reformar las mesas y cambiar el aspecto de la zona de recepción, ya fue anunciada el pasado verano. Esta segunda fase, que ha consistido en un área de lectura de periódicos con sillones y mobiliario nuevo para la sección de niños, ya ha sido finalizada. La dirección de la biblioteca también está muy orgullosa de anunciar que, gracias a una generosa subvención concedida por la Fundación John Mackintosh (John Mackintosh Trust), ha adquirido libros educativos y publicaciones para la biblioteca de referencia por valor de 10.000 libras. La selección de estos libros fue consultada con el Departamento de Educación (Department of Education). El Ministerio financiará la compra de libros de otras categorías. De hecho, recientemente se puso a disposición del público una remesa de libros nuevos para la sección infantil. Actualmente, la biblioteca disfruta de un gran auge, con muchos miembros nuevos que hacen uso de las instalaciones de forma regular. El mes pasado, la biblioteca celebró el “Día Mundial del Libro” (World Book Day) por primera vez, con cuentacuentos para niños, disfraces, intercambio de libros y otros eventos.     PRESS RELEASE No: 756/2015 Date: 21st October 2015 Gibraltar authors bring Calpean zest to Literary Festival events As the date for the Gibunco Gibraltar Literary Festival draws closer, the organisers have released more details of the local authors participating in the present edition. The confirmed names are Adolfo Canepa, Richard Garcia, Mary Chiappe & Sam Benady and Humbert Hernandez. Former AACR Chief Minister Adolfo Canepa was Sir Joshua Hassan’s right-hand man for many years. Currently Speaker and Mayor of the Gibraltar Parliament, Mr Canepa recently published his memoirs ‘Serving My Gibraltar,’ where he gives a candid account of his illustrious and extensive political career. Interestingly, Mr Canepa, who was first elected to the Rock’s House of Assembly in 1972, has held all the major public offices in Gibraltar, including that of Leader of the Opposition. Richard Garcia, a retired teacher, senior Civil Servant and former Chief Secretary, is no stranger to the Gibunco Gibraltar Literary Festival. He has written numerous books in recent years delving into the Rock's social history including the evolution of local commerce. An internationally recognised philatelist, Mr Garcia will be presenting his latest work commemorating the 50th anniversary of the event’s main sponsor, the Gibunco Group, and the Bassadone family history since 1737. Mary Chiappe, half of the successful writing tandem behind the locally flavoured detective series ‘The Bresciano Mysteries’ – the other half being Sam Benady – returns to the festival with her literary associate to delight audiences with the suggestively titled ‘The Dead Can’t Paint’, seventh and final instalment of their detective series.

McLean 2010 Good to Go: August 20, 2009 Within only nine days left before departure, things have fallen into place for Gibraltar. Janet Waterfield, a kind friend of English Bahá’í, Ann Dymond, informed me by telephone that she has a flat available to rent at 503 Neptune House, Marina Bay. The good news is that the flat is available for the whole three months duration of my stay. Janet recently made the acquaintance of senior believer, Ann, who was the first Bahá’í who came to Gibraltar in Holy Year 1992, the centenary of Bahá’u’lláh’s ascension. I have never been to that small, densely populated (7 square kilometres) overseas territory of Great Britain, but I understand that Marina Bay is a fine, central location. Sam Benoit, a recent university graduate and son of old friends, Wendy James and Bernard Benoit, is going to sublet my furnished apartment. This will be a great help since I won’t have to carry two rents at the same time Any pioneer or travel-teacher should not forget that serving the Faith, although it brings confirmations and rewards, can also bring tests and difficulties. They are a built-in component of service. I suppose that if Bahá’u’lláh did not find that His believers had the capacity for spiritual growth and service, He would not put us to the test at all.
