The river is basically flat water but always has a current on it. It does however, have numerous weirs and canoe passes which liven things up a little. It is ideal for kayakers who want to experience grade 1 and 2 conditions, or open canoeists of any level. Like any river, the difficulty varies according to weather and river conditions. All the information below is based on our experience at the time of paddling, and we advise that you always check carefully before running any of the obstacles on the day . N.B. "River left" and "river right" refer to the left and right hand side of the river as you face downstream N.B. All distances are approximate, we didn't have a GPS with us at the time! The river can be divided up into two easy days paddling which will allow you loads of time to play on the weirs and have a leisurely lunch etc. The upper section from Guisy to the road bridge just west of Beaurainville is the more technical section and we always paddle this on day 2 of a 2 day trip. On the first day, we paddle from the road bridge just west of Beaurainville to the campsite on the river in Montreuil.

    COMMUNIQUÉ DE PRESSE NOUVELLES STRUCTURES LABELLISEES Arras, le 3 février 2021 FRANCE SERVICES DANS LE PAS-DE-CALAIS Louis LE FRANC, préfet du Pas-de-Calais, se félicite des 5 nouvelles structures retenues par le Gouvernement, pour être labellisées France Services dans le département du Pas-de-Calais, depuis le 1er janvier 2021.     Prisoners in the Castellany ofArtois in the Early Fourteenth Century Carola M. Small* Althoughmore is becoming known about the prisonsofmedievalEurope, the details ofthe use andorganization ofFrench municipalprisons have not been the subjectofmuch study. A series of accounts from the early fourteenth century in the Archives départementales du Pas-de-Calais at Arras permits the examination ofsome aspects of the working ofthe prison attached to the castle atArras, which was used by the municipal government primarily for custodial rather than punitive purposes to detain debtors and people awaiting trial or execution. The fIScal arrangementsfor the prison, including the charges onprisoners and the provision madefor indigentprisoners, can be used to obtain other information on such matters as normal terms ofimprisonment, the composition of the prison population, prison conditions, and thefate ofprisoners. Malgré l'accroissement des recherches sur les prisons de l'Europe médiévale, on n'a guère étudié l'utilisation et l'organisation des geôles municipales françaises. Une série de rapports tirés des Archives départementales du Pas-de-Calais, à Arras, nous permettent toutefois de comprendre certains aspects du fonctionnement de la prison attenante au château d'Arras, qui servaità la détention temporaire plutôt qu'à l'expiation des peines, où les autorités municipales incarcéraient les débiteurs insolvables et les gens qui attendaient d'être jugés ou exécutés. À partir des renseignements d'ordre financier qu'on y trouve, par exemple, les frais imposés aus prisonniers et les mesures visant les détenus pauvres, on peut obtenir des indications sur la durée des séjours en prison, la composition de la population carcérale, l'état des lieux et le sort réservé auxprisonniers.

    51 RADIO STATIONS NOW AVAILABLE IN DAB+ IN HAUTS-DE-FRANCE Acceleration of DAB+ in France After Paris, Marseille and Nice, DAB+ is now available in Lille and in the Hauts-de-France region with the launch of 51 stations. On-air radio is continuing its transition to digital, as part of the trend in Europe. This is an ambitious national deployment plan being driven by the Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel (CSA - Higher Audiovisual Council) 70% of the French population covered in 3 years. The CSA's strategy, known as the 'nodes and arcs plan', will make DAB+ accessible to 70% of the French population by 2020. In three years, the large conurbations (the 'nodes') and the main road arteries (the 'arcs') will be covered. In the next few months, the deployment of DAB+ will continue in Alsace, Rhône-Alpes, Normandy, Brittany, Gironde and Occitanie. Moreover, a multi-regional call for candidatures covering fifteen zones and a national call for candidatures will be launched shortly. The digital radio revolution DAB+ is based on the qualities of on-air broadcasting (reliability, free for the listener, anonymous listening), while bringing new features: high-quality sound, continuous reception on the move, associated digital services. DAB+ will enable the radio offering to be expanded with more local, regional, theme-based, music or general programmes.
