Despite the fact that Networking/Sponsors 12 Camp was not a good fit for her, she knew that it would be a good thing for me, and she was right. It was at camp that I learned to function more independently, away from my home. As I have aged, Circle has provided me with a way to give back for all those wonderful times at Louise. And Circle has continued to connect me with strong, loving women of all ages; some of who I knew from my days at Camp, but many of whom I have met through Reunions or being on the Circle Board. So while becoming active in Circle may have initially felt like a debt or a responsibility, in fact it has been another gift, just as attending camp was in my childhood and ado- lescence.     For the Record When Jeff Rodgers became the first person to run 41 off, the pressure was off of him. It landed squarely on the shoulders of Tommy Harrington on that Labor Day weekend, Aug. 31, 1997. It was up to his boat path and times to make Jeff’s record stand up and pass approval. It was nothing new to Tommy. It wasn’t the first time he had pulled a world record. But his margin for error was so small, the slightest blip could wipe out Jeff’s work. And since no one had ever gotten into 43 off before, the boat paths leading up to it were going to be scrutinized to the limit. Not to mention the times. It was the last world record achieved with manual driving, so there was no computer spitting out dialed-in times. It was all on the driver. That’s part of what makes Tommy the most sought-after driver in the Southern Region and one of the best in the country – or the world for that matter. He has pulled 10 world slalom records – five men’s and five women’s, and at one time he had both simultaneously (Andy Mapple in 1994 and a Kristi Overton/Susi Graham tie in ’95). The men’s and women’s pro tour slalom records are currently in Tommy’s hands (Andy and Karen Truelove). Tommy handles a boat smoother and better than anyone. He can sit behind the wheel for hours on end, and his last pull of the day will be as good as his first or his 25th.

The band comprised Paul on bass, Eric Stewart on lead, George Martin on electric piano, Ringo and Steve Gadd on drums, Linda on tambourine and the horn section from the Q Tips. In between the various takes of 'Take It Away' Paul and his band played several numbers to entertain the audience, including 'Lucille', 'Bo Diddley', 'Peggy Sue', 'Send Me Some Lovin", 'Twenty Flight Rock', 'Cut Across Shorty', 'Reeling And Rocking', 'Searching' and 'Hallelujah I Love Her So'. The promotional film made its debut on Top Of The Pops on Thursday 15 July 1982.     THE PIANO LESSON Synopsis The Piano Lesson is set in Pittsburgh in 1936. Boy Willie has come to his uncle’s house to retrieve a piano that holds significant historical and sentimental value to the family. A battle ensues over the possession of the piano, which carries the legacy and opportunities of the characters and determines the choices they must make. Characters AVERY: Thirty-eight years old, Avery is a preacher who is trying to build up his congregation. He is honest and ambitious, finding himself opportunities in the city that were unavailable to him in rural areas of the South. While fervently religious, he manages to find the time to court Berniece after her husband’s death. BOY WILLIE: Brother to Berniece, Boy Willie is a thirty year old brash, impulsive, and fast-talking man. He has an infectious grin and a boyishness that is apt for his name. His story provides the central conflict for the play in that he plans to sell the family piano in order to buy land that his family worked on as slaves. He feels it’s important he does this in order to avenge his father, who grew up property-less— but not everyone in the family agrees. LYMON: Boy Willie’s long time friend is a twenty-nine year old who speaks little, but when he does with a disarming straight-forwardness. As he flees the law, he makes a plan to begin anew in the North. Eliciting stories from the families past, Lymon proves a vehicle by which we learn about the family.

    Lennon or McCartney? Can Statistical Analysis Solve an Authorship Puzzle? Stylometry—the use of statistical techniques to determine authorship—is best known for identifying the Unabomber as Theodor Kaczynski and revealing that Shakespeare collaborated with Christopher Marlowe on the Henry IV play cycle. In textual analysis, it is not the unusual word choice that betrays the hidden voice, but the habitual—the recurring patterns of common words, such as prepositions, that mark the probable identity of one person alone. It was a mutual Beatles passion—discovered at a conference on Prince Edward Island—that led Mark Glickman, senior lecturer in statistics at Harvard, and Jason Brown, professor of mathematics at Dalhousie University, to wonder whether a stylometric approach could answer the burning question: Lennon or McCartney? As Glickman explains, for most Lennon-McCartney songs, it is well-known and well-documented which of the two wrote the song. However, a surprisingly large number of songs (or portions of songs) have disputed authorship. As an example, no one knows who wrote the music for “In My Life,” a track from the 1965 album Rubber Soul, which is ranked 23 on Rolling Stone’s The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Both Lennon and McCartney remembered differently. “So, we wondered whether you could use data analysis techniques to try to figure out what was going on in the song to distinguish whether it was by one or the other,“ says Glickman.     Genesis: Get ‘Em Out By Friday The Official Release Dates 1968-78 Introduction Depending on where one looks for the information, the original release dates of Genesis singles and albums are often misreported. This article uses several sources, including music paper cuttings, websites and books, to try and determine the most likely release date in the UK for their officially released product issued between 1968 and 1978. For a detailed analysis to be completed beyond 1978 will require the input of others that know that era far better than I with the resources to examine it in appropriate levels of detail. My own collection of source material essentially runs dry after 1978. As most people searching for release dates are likely to go to Wikipedia that is where this search for the truth behind Genesis’ back catalogie. The dates claimed on Wikipedia would themselves have come from a number of sources referenced by contributors over the years but what these references lack is the evidence to back up their claims. This article aims to either confirm or disprove these dates with the added bonus of citing where this information stems from. It’s not without a fair share of assumptions and educated deductions but it offers more on this subject than any previously published piece.
