In all three formats he was prolific, top-scoring in eight of his 11 international innings. His triple-century in the First Test at The Oval was as career-defining as it was nation-defining: he was the first South African to reach the landmark. It was an epic, and the fact that it laid the platform for a famous series win marked it out for eternal fame. By the time he added another century, in the Third Test at Lord’s, he had edged past even Jacques Kallis as the wicket England craved most. Amla produced yet another hundred in the one-day series, at Southampton, prompting coach Gary Kirsten to purr: “The pitch was extremely awkward, the bowling very good.     DAILY UPDATED CURRENT AFFAIRS – 07.07.2018 TO 09.07.2018 NATIONAL Election Commission launches app to help voters report poll code violations (a) The Election Commission launched an Android-based app, which allows voters to send geo-tagged videos and photos of any violations that take place during elections, including distribution of money or gifts by political parties or even hate speeches being made while canvassing. (b) The app known as „cVIGIL‟, which stands for “citizens‟ vigil”, was tested on a pilot basis during the recently concluded polls in Karnataka‟s Bengaluru. (c) The election commission has now decided to extend the service during the upcoming assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram. (d) Chief election commissioner OP Rawat. Two Election Commissioners of India-Ashok Lavasa,Sunil Arora Govt launches Coal Mine Surveillance & Management System and Khan Prahari mobile app (a) The Union Ministry of Coal launched Coal Mine Surveillance & Management System (CMSMS) and Mobile Application „Khan Prahari‟. (b) The CMSMS and the mobile app have been developed by CMPDI, Ranchi a Subsidiary of CIL and Bhaskarcharya Institute of Space Application and Geo-informatics (BISAG). (c) The CMSMS is web based GIS application through which location of sites for unauthorised mining can be detected.     LAW EZZ @ DPCC- CURRENT AFFAIRS JULY 2018 Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has ordered a mandatory dope test for all government employees, including police personnel, from the time of their recruitment through every stage of their service. The Reserve Bank of India has issued the license to Bank of China to launch operations in India. With this, Bank of China becomes the second Chinese bank after the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China to have a branch in India. The 42nd World Heritage Committee meeting concluded on July 4, 2018 in Bahrain's capital Manama, with 19 new sites inscribed to the World Heritage List. The meeting, which opened on June 24, added 13 cultural sites, three natural sites and three mixed ones to the World Heritage List, including Germany’s Naumburg Cathedral, Kenya’s Thimlich Ohinga Archaeological Site, Oman’s Ancient City of Qalhat, China’s Mount Fanjingshan and France’s Chaine des. The World Heritage List now contains 1,092 sites in 167 countries. The Supreme Court of India on July 12, 2018 stated that the social stigma and discrimination attached to the LGBTQ community would go if the criminality of consensual gay sex is done away with. The SC bench rejected a proposal of the lawyers, seeking retention of section 377, that public opinion should be elicited on the matter, saying it did not want a referendum but would go by constitutional morality. The bench stated that once the criminality under section 377 goes, then the stigma and discrimination will also go. The Supreme Court on July 17, 2018 reserved its verdict on a clutch of pleas challenging the constitutional validity of section 377 of Indian Penal Code which criminalises consensual gay sex.
