February, in the Catholic Tradition, is the devotion to the Holy Family. It is a time between Christmas and Lent. It is a time to recall the Holy Family. It is within the Holy Family that Jesus spent his time before he embarked on his public service. There are two significant Feast Days in February… The Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes (11th) On February 11, 1858, a young lady appeared to Bernadette Soubirous. This began a series of visions. During the apparition on March 25, the lady identified herself with the words: “I am the Immaculate Conception.” Learn more here… https://www.franciscanmedia.org/our-lady-of-lourdes/ The Feast of The Chair of St. Peter the Apostle (22nd). A special day, in which the Church honors St. Peter and his successors. Learn more here… https://todayscatholic.org/the-chair-of-saint-peter-the-apostle/ https://www.franciscanmedia.org/sharing-the-word-for-february-22-2018 We are embarking upon our busy season at Council 664. Please watch the newsletter for upcoming activities and events. Please call and volunteer for these events. We need your service. “We cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love.” Saint Mother Teresa Learn more about your Catholic Faith on Relevant Radio, “Talk Radio for Catholic Life”. 1050 AM WJOK Kaukauna, 1640 AM WSJP Sussex, 100.1 FM WSJP Port Washington and https://relevantradio.com/ Respectfully, Steve Streblow, GK CHAPLAIN’S REPORT Brother Knights: Super Bowl and Valentines. That pretty much sums up February. They’re great helps to get us through what I think for most people is thankfully the shortest month of the year. For us as Catholics, February marks the first leg of our journey through the mysteries of Christ’s public ministry that we embark on during Ordinary Time. This time of the liturgical year is not “ordinary” in the sense of being “commonplace” or “humdrum,” but ordinary in the Latin sense of giving “order” to our lives. As we shape our lives “according to the order” of Jesus Christ, we are filled and renewed by his life-giving Holy Spirit. That’s why we wear green vestments during this season – to indicate the newness of life that comes in being a disciple of Christ. Being a “disciple” takes “discipline” – the words are clearly related. But with Christ as our coach, we couldn’t have a more encouraging and wise trainer. He changes our very identity and adopts us as beloved sons as he joins us in the work of our sanctification. This all starts at our Baptism, which makes Supreme Chaplain Archbishop Lori’s challenge for this month quite fitting: “This month I challenge you to hear the Heavenly Father saying these words – “you are my beloved son” – personally to you, and reflect on your identity in him. I recommend that you do so, if possible, in Eucharistic Adoration. Secondly I challenge you to spend time with someone who loves you unconditionally. Ask them why? Their answer should give you a small glimpse of God’s unconditional love for you.” Christ’s peace, Fr. John K of C Honorary Pallbearers NO funerals this month ARE YOU MOVING OR GOING TO BE TEMPORARILY AWAY If you are you moving, please let us know of your change of address.
