is my pleasure to invite you to attend the joint conference of Asia-Pacific Conference on Engineering and Applied Sciences (APCEAS), International Conference on Material and Chemical Engineering (MACE) and International Academic Conference on Social Sciences (IACSS) in Sydney, Australia from 18-20 December, 2018. We look forward to welcoming scholars, researchers, academics, students, industry stakeholder, professionals and others worldwide to explore, discuss and share research and personal stories. The joint conference will be held at Novotel Sydney Central Hotel, 169-179 Thomas Street Sydney NSW 2000 Australia – a wonderful location surrounded by several universities and popular historical attractions. We are, therefore, looking forward to having many of you for research sharing and sight-seeing exploration. Our conference theme is divided into social sciences and natural sciences. All subjects are welcome. The conference will include plenary sessions and proffered paper presentations and posters. Sincerely, Dr. Thanh Pham 3 General Information for Participants Registration The registration desk will be situated on the ground floor at Novotel Sydney Central at 13:00-14:00 Tuesday, December 18, 2018 08:30-16:00 Wednesday, December 19, 2018 08:30-16:00 Thursday, December 20, 2018 A Polite Request to All Participants Participants are requested to arrive in a timely fashion for all addresses. Presenters are reminded that the time slots should be divided fairly and equally by the number of presentations, and that they should not overrun. The session chair is asked to assume this timekeeping role and to summarize key issues in each topic. Certificate Certificate of Presentation or Certificate of Attendance A certificate of attendance includes participant’s name and affiliation, certifying the participation in the conference. A certificate of presentation indicates a presenter’s name, affiliation and the paper title that is presented in the scheduled session. Certificate Distribution Oral presenters will receive a certificate of presentation from the session chair after their presentations or at the end of the session. Poster presenters will receive a certificate of presentation from the conference staff at the end of their poster session. The certificate of presentation will not be issued, either at or after the conference, to authors whose papers are registered but not presented. Instead, the certificate of attendance will be provided after the conference. 4 Preparation for Oral Presentations All presentation rooms are equipped with a screen, an LCD projector, and a laptop computer installed with Microsoft PowerPoint. You will be able to insert your USB flash drive into the computer and double check your file in PowerPoint. We recommend you to bring two copies of the file in case that one fails. You may also connect your own laptop to the provided projector; however please ensure you have the requisite connector. Preparation for Poster Presentation Materials Provided by the Conference Organizer: 1. X-frame display & base fabric canvases (60cm×160cm) 2. Adhesive tapes or binder clips Materials Prepared by the Presenters: 3. Home-made poster(s) 4. Material: not limited, can be posted on the canvases 5.     1 Introduction The Office of the College Secretary is the official keeper of records, overseer of registration and scholastic evaluation of students at the college level. The Office of the College Secretary serves as the liaison of the college to various offices in the University. It is in constant communication with sections of the Office of the University Registrar such as Admission and Registration Section (ARS), Computerized Registration and Student Records Section (CRSRS), Records Management and Appraisal Section (RMAS), and Publication and University Council Secretariat Section (PUCSS). Among the offices under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, the Office of the College Secretary coordinates with the Office of Scholarship and Student Services, Office of Student Activities, Office of Counseling and Guidance, and Student Disciplinary Tribunal. Likewise, it coordinates with the Office of Extension Coordination under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. In some colleges especially in large colleges (e.g. College of Engineering, College of Science and the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy), the Office of Graduate Studies addresses solely matters related to graduate students from admission to graduation. It performs duties similar to that of the Office of the College Secretary throughout the Academic Year. It is headed by the Graduate Coordinator who is appointed by the Chancellor upon the recommendation of the Dean. University rules governing graduate students can be found in the “General Rules for Graduate Programs in UP Diliman” published by the Office of the Director of Instruction, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs in 1999. It is now at the forefront of socio‐economic and political discourse. Furthermore, the continuously evolving conceptualization and definition of cultural and creative industries (CCI) phenomenon has paved the way for an emerging powerful approach ‐ cultural diversity. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) advocates a culture‐sensitive and “human‐centered” democratic governance attaining the genuine objectives of human rights as declared in international instruments and as codified in domestic laws of various jurisdictions. In this session, culture as well as its related concepts of cultural expression, creativity, innovation and their overlap with economy, development, education and other sectors will be further explored. SESSION 2: CIVIL RIGHTS AND FREEDOM Objective: Civil rights and freedoms, such as, freedom of religion and freedom of expression, are essential parts of democracy and governments are expected to protect these rights and freedoms. But what happens when citizens do not exercise these rights responsibly? What happens when the exercise of these rights by one citizen results in the curtailment of the same rights of another? In this session, the rise of social media as a platform for news will be studied in relation to traditional journalism, press freedom and national security as it relates to human rights.
