• At 78 deg north, SvalSat and Tromsø has become key stations for EO payload data downlink. Primary Station for missions operated by : • ESA and EUMETSAT • Commercial: RapidEye, GeoEye, Digital Globe • (RadarSat-1/RadarSat-2) • JAXA, ISRO, KARI • NASA Ground Network • NOAA NPOESS programme

• Also key station for navigation and telecom • Galileo • Iridium

• Ka-band capability for 2010 • • 20 Gbit capacity to Norwegian telecom grid for EO data circulation

KSAT Southern Station - Antarctica

• At 72 deg south, 2 deg west

• Operational S&X service since 2007.

• Routine X-band acquisition services at 7-800 Mbit/sec payload data downlink

ESA/Canada Misions: Radarsat-1/Radarsat-2/Envisat

• RadarSat: KSAT & Norwegian investment in the program • Envisat: National facility • Facility work: Acquisition, processing, long term archival • Key datasources for the EMSA (European Maritime Safety Agency) CleanseaNet service. • Oil Spill and ship detection • Integrated AIS. Complete Europe covered • Level 1b image, oil spill analysis and related info delivered within 30 minutes after satellite data reception • Global • Latest Certification Status: All northern KSAT ground stations (Svalbard, Tromsø and Grimstad) have been certified for RadarSat-2 operations. • KSAT will provide RadarSat-2 data to the DAP service in collaboration with MDA. • Future Plans: Radarsat follow-on missions, Sentinel

• Completed 1st year of operations. • KompSat-2 acquisitions at Svalbard. Approximately 10 daily contacts are used for data downlink at the SvalSat satellite station. • Level 1 processing at KSAT/Tromsø for scientific users and at SISA/Toulouse for commercial users • Level 1b Archive at KSAT, Tromsø

HMA Implementation - Status

• Prototype ordering service, implementation of HMA ordering schema (V 0.9.2 ). • operational discovery service, based on OGC Catalog service ebRIM profile (CS-W V 2.0.0) for level1 products

• Operational data access services, implementing OGC WMS/WCS/WFS

• Operational ordering service based on HMA ordering, with enhanced ”order negotiation” functionality.

Summary

• SvalSat station continues to expand in terms missions and users and in terms of capabilities (Capacity, Ka-band etc.)

• Antarctica station in its third year of successful operations. Serves key commercial and scientific missions.

• Radarsat-2 and future RadarSat/Sentinel secures data and service continuity for the maritime monitoring and surveilleance.

• HMA compliant ordering and sensor planning is key for data delivery services.
