Coronavirus

Whilst full lockdown has been relaxed, the disease is still out there killing our loved ones.

News from the League Office

COVID Risk Assessment

Clubs are reminded that before you can play once more (including friendlies) a Covid Risk Assessment must be completed, sent to the league and signed off by our Covid Officer – Ant Cross.

Hampshire FA will not sanction any friendly or organise a referee until it has been done, so for those clubs who have arranged friendlies for next Saturday, time is of the essence to get into us and signed off!

Special General Meeting

A reminder that the Special General Meeting has been called for next Saturday morning 1st August from 10am at Fleetlands FC, Lederle Lane, , PO13 0AX.

Weather permitting and to assist with social distancing it will be held on the pitch.

Clubs are required to send one representative. You will be collecting your match balls, team sheets and for those who request it medical equipment. New Clubs will also be collecting their sub bibs, whiteboards, banners etc, hence why we need to meet in person.

All clubs bag of goodies will be clearly marked so please do not pick up a bag belonging to another club.

Can those clubs yet to return trophies from 2018-19 season please bring them with them

Message From The Fixture Secretary

Unfortunately, losing the August fixtures which totals 8 Premier Division League games, means losing over 25% of our playing season.

It means that, playing every Saturday in September through to the last Saturday in April - apart from Boxing Day 26/12 and with no cup ties whatsoever - there are only 3 spare Saturdays - not enough especially if last year's poor weather is repeated!

As a League we need to try and free up some extra dates, so I am proposing that all clubs - Div 1 as well - play just one midweek game (as local as I can make it) with a 6.00pm kick-off on Tuesday 1st, Wednesday 2nd or Thursday 3rd September.

Referee Appointment Secretary Ant Cross has pointed out that the FA Cup is scheduled to start that midweek, so to help with match officials, it may well be better to go for Wednesday or even Thursday evening. To try and keep the home/away pattern fairly even, clubs with lights would be playing away from home for this one-off.

That is because during September and October, I am further proposing that the five Premier clubs with floodlights, play four or five midweek games to try and partly compensate for the loss of our August games and potentially free up for dates later in the season. I can spread them out so that there are Hampshire League games somewhere in the County throughout September and October. If the weather was kind and we get those early additional games played as I've suggested, we could even have our League Cup start around November/December time.

Division 1 only has two floodlight clubs so opportunities here are much more limited which is why they also need to play midweek on 1/2 or 3rd September.

Clearly, this plan hinges on the clubs with floodlights (Hayling, Infinity, Locks Heath, Overton and Stockbridge) all being happy with the proposal which is why I am sending this out now so that you have time to think about it and we can discuss next Saturday at Fleetlands.

However, I would welcome all clubs to respond with their thoughts now - good or bad - or if you have a suggestion I've not considered. Please give this serious consideration, even before we kick a football, this is undoubtedly going to be the most difficult season we have ever faced.

League Sponsor Still Required

The League are still looking for a main sponsor for the 2020-21 season. The FA have already confirmed that our development grants will not be given for the new season, meaning less monies available to support you than in recent years.

Whilst we appreciate the difficult economic times we find ourselves in, if any one knows of any company looking to gain coverage throughout the county and beyond, please get in touch with the league secretary or chairman in the first instance.

The package announced to clubs in March worth somewhere between £8000-£12000 to the league we have issued to clubs in waived fees, 20 free registrations etc, most certainly cannot be considered again in future seasons without further financial support.

League Refunds

Can all clubs who wish to receive reimbursement of an upgrade from their Bluefin Insurance policy please forward a copy of the policy document and receipt to the league secretary as soon as possible.

Reimbursement will be made along with the £100 for clubs who were members of the league last season after 1st September.
