“You do not have to be a great fundraiser or Mother Teresa to make a difference. Everyone can make a valuable contribution by transferring their skills to any number of volunteer positions,” he said. “I have always learned a great deal from all of my volunteer opportunities. Volunteering is really a two- way street for exchanging knowledge and experience.”

hen Stéphane Duclos, Senior Insurance Manager, celebrated his fifth year of remission from cancer, Whis colleagues wanted to celebrate with him. They participated in a 12-hour walk to raise funds for cancer research but wanted to do more. And on June 16, 2011, they did indeed contribute more to the fight against cancer, as 10 brave men and two brave women shaved their heads at their Québec office.

Going door to door to stamp out hunger
n British Columbia, more than 100,000 people turn to local food banks Ievery year to help meet their basic sustenance needs. Food banks can struggle to keep their shelves stocked, and in the fall of 2011, donations were down at the Abbotsford Food Bank. It was the perfect time for the Fraser Valley office to step up and take part in the B.C. Thanksgiving Food Drive – a province-wide event that brings 40 communities together to put food on people’s tables using a simple and effective concept.

That spirit of fellowship was evident when the committee collected a whopping 49 boxes of warm clothing items from employees during the “Share the Warmth” campaign. Other committee activities included organizing donations for
