Today we begin our tour to the legendary city of Troy to see the replica of the wooden horse. We visit the ruins, which sparked our interest as we entered Assos (Acts 20:13-14) where Paul boarded to sail to Mitylene—the relatively intact city walls, the lookout tower, theater and agora. The Byzantine church turned mosque is no longer used. From the top of the volcanic hill we have a spectacular view (if it is clear) of Mitylene located on the sea twelve kilometers away. Then we travel to Pergamon to visit the Acropolis, Temple of Athena, Serapis Temple, Heroon, Sanctuary of Athena, Library of Pergamon, Temple of Tragan, Theatre, Zeus Altar, Kizil Avlu. Our sites today are Pergamum (Church of Pergamum 3) and the small ruins at Thyatira. Pergamum, perched on the hilltop above the modern city of Bergama, is one of the most dramatic sites in Turkey. Strolling through the significant unearthed remnants of marble temples, one Page 1 of 6 wonders at the “technology” which made the construction possible.

Somut kültürel mirası oluşturan sit alanları ve ören yerleri güncel yerleşmelerle bir arada varlığını sürdürmektedir. Son yıllarda tarihi eserlere ve alanlara yönelik ilgi ve merak, koruma konusunu da beraberinde getirmektedir. Tarihi eserleri, yapıları ve kalıntıların korunması amacıyla yasaların yürürlüğe girmesi, Türkiye’de Avrupa ülkelerinden daha geç dönemlerde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Ancak son yıllarda artan çalışmalarla birlikte tüm ülkede tarihi değer taşıyan mimari yapıların korunması, tanıtılması ve yeni işlevler kazandırılması söz konusudur. Mersin, kentsel ve kırsal alanda çok sayıda ören yeri ve sit alanının mevcut olduğu tarihi ve arkeolojik bakımdan önem taşıyan bir Doğu Akdeniz kentidir. Makalede Mersin kentinde kültürel mirasa yaklaşım belirlenmeye çalışılmış ve koruma sorunları üzerinde durularak çözüm önerileri sunulmuştur. Arrive at the Corinth Canal for a brief stop and then continue on to the Acropolis of Corinth. Acro-corinth is the citadel of Corinth. It is situated to the southwest of the ancient city and rises to an elevation of 1883 ft. [574 m.]. Today it is surrounded by walls that are about 1.85 mi. [3 km.] long. The foundations of the fortifications are ancient—going back to the Hellenistic Period. The current walls were built and rebuilt by the Byzantines, Franks, Venetians, and Ottoman Turks. Climb up and visit the fortress. Then proceed to the Ancient city of Corinth. It was to this megalopolis where the apostle Paul came and worked, established a thriving church, subsequently sending two of his epistles now part of the New Testament. Here, we see all of the sites associated with his ministry: the Agora, the Temple of Apollo, the Roman Odeon, the Bema and Gallio’s Seat. The small local archaeological museum here is an absolute must! In Romans 16:23 Paul mentions his friend Erastus and • • we will see an inscription to him at the site. Antalya, Burdur ve Isparta illerinin oluşturduğu Batı Akdeniz Bölgesinin en büyük kenti ve merkezi konumundadır. Kıyı kenti ve turizm merkezi olan Antalya’nın körfezi, asimetrik olup güney doğuda Gazipaşa ile güney batıda Yardımcı Burnu arasındaki uzunluğu yaklaşık 280 km. dır. Türkiye topraklarının %2.6’sını oluşturan Antalya İlinde ülke nüfusunun %2.5’i yaşamaktadır. Antalya İli’nin; Merkezi İlçe, Akseki, Alanya, Elmalı, Finike, Gazipaşa, Gündoğmuş, İbradi, Kale, Kaş, Kemer, Korkuteli, Kumluca, Manavgat ve Serik olmak üzere 15 ilçe, 19 bucak ve 545 köyü bulunmaktadır. İlin toplam yüzölçümü 20.723 km2 dir.(4) 4.2. ANTALYA’NIN JEOLOJİSİ VE TEKTONİĞİ Antalya bölgesinde Prekambriye’den günümüze kadar oluşmuş kaya birimleri yüzeylenir. Oldukça farklı ortam koşullarında gelişmiş olan bu kaya birimlerinin bir kısmı otokton, bir kısmı ise allokton konumludur. Antalya bölgesinin batı ve kuzey batısında Beydağları otoktonu, kuzey doğusunda ise Anamas – Akseki otoktonu yeralır. Beydağları otoktonun yaşlı kaya birimleri üzerinde Paleosen ve Eosen çökelekleri bazı alanlarda sığ deniz ortamında çökelmiş karbonatlarla temsil edilirken, bazı alanlarda daha derin deniz ortamında çökelmiş kumtaşı, kiltaşı, kireçtaşı vb. kaya türleri ile temsil edilir. Beydağları otoktonu Daniyen’de Antalya naplarının, Langiyen’de de Likya naplarının yerleşimine sahne olmuştur. Anamas - Akseki otoktonun yaşlı kaya birimleri üzerinde Orta - Üst Triyas yaşlı kumtaşı, kireçtaşı ve şeyl’ler, bu şeyl’ler üzerinde de genellikle Jura - Kretase yaşlı kireçtaşları bulunur. Paleosen-Eosen, Anamas - Akseki otoktonunda kireçtaşı ve kırıntılı kayalarla temsil edilir. Anamas - Akseki otoktonunu güney kenarında Daniyen’de Antalya napları ve Alanya napı yerleşmiştir.
