Media information Start line A photo/video riser with sightlines to the start line will be located at the northeast corner of Columbus Media contacts Drive and Monroe Street. Approved and credentialed media will have access to a photo/video riser adjacent to the start line and a photo/video corral adjacent to the finish line. Interviews with event officials and athletes will be made available upon request.

Restrictions: Please note that NBC 5 and nbcchicago.com have a live TV and live streaming partnership with the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K. On race day, NBC has exclusive rights to live coverage of the race start and start line from 8 – 9 a.m. and of the finish line from 8 – 11:30 a.m. All broadcast outlets are permitted to go live at the start line before this time, or tape coverage from the designated media areas during these times.

The following streets will remain open throughout the duration of the event: Upper Randolph Drive between Michigan Avenue and Lake Shore Drive will remain open during the entire event. Because the course route follows Columbus Drive, lower Randolph Drive will be affected by street closures.

North Michigan Avenue will remain open north of Harrison Street. Southbound lanes of Michigan Avenue will remain open south of Harrison Street. Eastbound lanes of Roosevelt Road will remain open. Congress Parkway will remain open to Michigan Avenue.

Lake Shore Drive will remain open.

Turn lanes will remain open from westbound Grand Avenue to northbound Fairbanks Street and from southbound State Street to westbound Grand Avenue.

Accessing the Museum Campus Museum Campus (Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, Shedd Aquarium) will remain accessible via the Lake Shore Drive 18th Street exit ramp.

For vehicles arriving from the north and west, the recommended route is to take I-90/94 to I-55 north. Continue on I-55 to North Lake Shore Drive. Continue north on Lake Shore Drive to the 18th Street ramp.

For the most convenient pedestrian access to the start line media riser, enter Grant Park on Monroe Street To access the finish line photo/video corral, enter Grant Park on Balbo Drive heading east. Walk south along heading east. Use the pedestrian underpass to cross beneath Columbus Drive (you cannot cross Columbus the fence line on the west side of Columbus Drive toward the finish line. Athletes to watch - Men

Stephen Sambu (Bib #2) – Stephen Sambu, a native of living in America, is one of the hottest runners on the road right now. Sambu, sponsored by Nike, had a fantastic 2014 racing season that saw him produce the fastest 8K time ever run. In a hotly contested race in last June, Sambu and Kenya’s Geoffrey Mutai both stopped the clock in 22:01.1. That translates to 4:25 pace per mile. Sambu was also the world 10K road leader after posting a 27:25. He holds PRs of 13:13 in the 5,000m, 26:54 in the 10,000m and 1:00:44 in the half . Sambu arrives at the 2015 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K after finishing second by one second at the NYC on March 15. If the conditions are right, he could threaten the Shamrock Shuffle 8K course record, 22:35, set in 1998 by Kenyan James Kariuki.

Prior to bursting onto the scene of professional running, Sambu spent some time in Illinois at Rend Lake Junior College where he captured 10 individual national championships, including two NJCAA national cross country titles. He moved on to the University of Arizona where he became a nine-time NCAA All-American and the PAC 10 10,000m champion in 2011 and the PAC 12 10,000m champion in 2012.

Jacob Riley (Bib #54) – A member of the Hansons-Brooks Distance Project, Riley returns to the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K as the defending champion. He outkicked teammate Brendan Gregg by three seconds to break the tape first in 23:06 at the 2013 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K. His time ranks him among the top 15 fastest performers in Shamrock Shuffle history. Riley ended 2014 after an impressive marathon debut at the Bank of America ; he finished as the 2nd American and 11th overall in 2:13:16.

Philip Reid (Bib #71) – Reid out-dueled Jacob Riley by two seconds in 2013 to take home the title and one of the strongest performances in Shamrock Shuffle history. A member of the Asics Aggies Running Club from San Luis Obispo, Calif., Reid returns after missing the Club Competition in 2014. Reid arrives in Chicago fresh off a PR and a top 20 finish at the Half Marathon. He just missed breaking 1:04, stopping the clock at 1:04:08.

Brendan Gregg (Bib #52) – Gregg finished second to Hansons-Brooks Distance Project teammate, Jacob Riley, at the 2014 Shamrock Shuffle. While he didn’t walk away with the title, he did leave with a personal best: 23:09. Gregg, a Stanford alum and All-American, holds PRs of 1:03:35 in the half marathon, 2:18:30 in the marathon and 28:28 in the 10,000m.

Jed Christiansen (Bib #63) – A member of the Playmakers Elite/New Balance team from Lansing, Mich., Christiansen improved his 20th place finish in the 2013 Shamrock Shuffle by taking the fourth place spot in 2014, his highest finish at the Shamrock Shuffle. He qualified for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon after finishing as the 3rd American in the 2011 Bank of America Chicago Marathon with a PR, 2:18:31.

Mohamed Hrezi (Bib #51) – Hrezi, a relative newcomer to the Hansons-Brooks Distance Project, makes his Shamrock Shuffle debut after a successful collegiate career where he set PRs of 4:04 in the mile, 13:59 in the 5000m and 28:51 in the 10,000m. Hrezi’s primary 8K experiences comes from cross country – if he arrives in top form, he might have the raw speed and talent to surprise the field.

Jameson Mora (Bib #73) – Mora, a member of the Asics Aggies, comes into the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K after qualifying for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon with a time of 2:16:40 at the California International Marathon in December. Mora, who also works as an engineer, has a marathon personal best of 2:15:44.

Brandon Bauer (Bib #111) – Bauer, a member of the Columbus Running Company, finished 13th in Athletes to watch - Women a personal best of 23:58 at the 2014 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K. He has a personal best of 1:05:41 in the half marathon and 2:22:42 in the marathon. Alexi Pappas (Bib #1) – Pappas, a member of the Nike Oregon Track Club, leads the women’s elite field after strong showings in 2015 on the track and the roads. Most recently, she finished fifth at the John DeWitt (Bib #91) – DeWitt makes his second appearance at the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle Jacksonville Gate River Run 15K. A three-time All-American, Pappas etched her name in the Dartmouth 8K as part of the Wisconsin Runner Racing Team. He finished 21st last year. He returned to Chicago in record books by recording the third fastest times in the 3000m and 5000m, and, as a graduate student, the fall to qualify for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon with a 2:17:38 debut at the Bank of America she helped lead the 2012 Oregon Ducks to their first NCAA Cross Country Championship since 1987. Dot McMahon (Bib #331) – A long time member of the Hansons-Brooks Distance Project, McMahon – originally an 800m runner – cracked the top 10 at the 2012 Bank of America Chicago Marathon with a ninth place finish. The last time McMahon ran the Shamrock Shuffle in 2013, she finished in 3rd place and helped the Hansons women take home the team title. McMahon has a marathon best of 2:31:48, and she set her half marathon PR, 1:11:48, in 2014.

Ariana Hilborn (Bib #423) – Hilborn returns to the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K after an impressive fourth place finish in 2014. A member of the Sonoran Distance Project based in Arizona, Hilborn has personal bests of 1:14:22 in the half marathon and 2:35:20 in the marathon. A fun fact: Hilborn quit her high school track team after three weeks because she hated running!

Jessica Odorcic (Bib #362) – Ordorcic, a member of the Cleveland Elite Development team, had a fantastic showing at the 2013 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K. She finished fourth in 26:42, a time that would have won her the individual title in 2014. Odorcic qualified for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon after running the 2013 Akron Half-Marathon in 1:14:22. She has yet to make her 26.2-mile debut.

Danna Kelly-Herrick (Bib #390) – Herrick, a member of Runablaze based out of Des Moines, Iowa, returns to the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K after she held off Ariana Hilborn in a sprint finish to take the third spot in 2014 in 27:37.

Herrick has personal bests of 2:40:09 in the marathon and 1:17:25 in the half marathon.

Megan Goethals (Bib #332) – Goethals, a relative newcomer to the Hansons-Brooks Distance Project, started 2015 with a pair of wins: the Orlando Walt Disney Half Marathon (1:16:25) and the Tampa 15K (52:17). Goethals was a nine-time All-American and the 2013 Pac-12 5000m champion while she competed at the University of Washington. She has a 5000m personal best of 15:33.

Stephanie Price (Bib #336) – Price, a member of the Twin Cities Track Club, finished eighth at the 2013 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K. After a standout career at the University of Minnesota, she qualified for two USA National teams, and she placed 12th at the 2012 USATF Club Cross Country race. She has a personal best of 1:14:31 in the half marathon.

Becki Spellman (Bib #361) – Spellman, a member of the Cleveland Elite Development team, placed ninth Top athlete roster - Men at the 2013 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K. She has personal bests of 1:16:05 in the half marathon Bib # First name Last name and 2:40:16 in the marathon. She finished 23rd at the 2013 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K in 29:01, and she 5 Nick Holmes cracked the top 10 at the 2014 Shamrock Shuffle, clocking 28:09 to finish ninth. 1988 Carey Pinkowski, now the Executive Race Director for the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K and the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, finishes third in the ninth annual Shamrock Shuffle at 24:07. Olympian Jim Spivey claimed the men’s championship in 23:50. Participants in the fifth annual Shamrock Shuffle are forced to brave very cold temperatures, with the wind chill hovering near minus 20. Jim Hanson of Illinois wins the men’s competition in 24:55 while Sarah Linsley, also of Illinois, becomes the women’s champion, tying the course record she set in 1982, at 27:41.

1980 The first annual Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K is held, with the course winding through Lincoln Park on Chicago’s near North side. An estimated 1,000 participate, as Kurt Schallenberber and Peggy Schott, both Illinois residents, became champions.
