Duration of exercise: Wednesday, Sept 19 from 0000 to2400 (12:00am to 11:59pm) You may participate any time after that if you wish

Place of occurrence: The Southeast Region

Objective: The goal of a drill is to request resources through WebEOC following your processes to fight against the Pirates and push them back into the sea so they never return.

Participants: Sentinels and their users District Coordinators TDEM Critical Information Systems (CIS) SOC

Emergency Scenario: The above pirate have risen from their grave and traveled to the Gulf Coast during Tuesday night (9/18) and have already invaded the coastal counties (Matagorda, Brazoria, Galveston, and Chambers) and are working their way to the most northern counties (Walker, Colorado, Austin, Sabine). Each county they invade, they commandeer the liquor and supply chain stores as well as EOCs.

Inject in English: ALERT!! You land lovers, we pirates have risen from Davy Jones' Locker and are invading your area and plan to commandeer all your resources and government land. We are tired of the water and are moving inland. We have already invaded the coastal counties and are moving up to the northern counties.

Question to Consider: If you were to push us out to sea, what tool would you use to go about requesting resources and working together to share information? Use this tool to request the resources you need to fight this invasion.

Blackbeard (Edward Teach) 1680– 1716– England With his fearsome appearance, Blackbeard is 1718 1718 often credited with the creation of the stereotypical image of a pirate. Although his real name remains unknown, he began his pirate career as the first officer of -turned-pirate Captain of the Mary Anne. When a young crewman, , called for a vote of no confidence in Hornigold for his refusal to attack English ships, the crew by a vote ousted Hornigold and Blackbeard, leaving the Mary Anne to Bellamy whom the crew elected their new captain.[23][26] His legend solidified after he took command of the Queen Anne's Revenge.[29]

Lieutenant Richards (pirate) ? 1718 Unknown Active in the Caribbean and off the Carolinas. He is best known for sailing alongside Blackbeard (Edward Teach / Thatch).

Jean Lafitte c. 1803– France French pirate (or ) active in the Gulf 1776– 1815 of Mexico during the early 1800s. She was so good at her job, in fact, that she was able to retire with all her plunder, and a pension, at the age of 35. A terrifying pirate but one of the few to die an old women and protect her wealth.
