You can check all the panel details here.

The purpose of Saturday’s panels is to show you how music supervisors think, listen to music, and choose tunes for films, TV shows, commercials, and other projects. During this session, the supervisors will listen to songs from Treefort artists, discuss why the song may or may not make sense for a project the supervisor has worked on, and give some feedback to the artist.

This could be a good opportunity for you to get feedback on your music and get it in front of music supervisors. The deadline for submission is end of day Tuesday.

We invite you to submit your music for this! If you’re interested, there are a couple things to keep in mind:

1) The purpose of this panel is education and you’ll be submitting music for past projects the supervisors have worked on. So, don’t worry about clearing this with your label, publisher, manager, etc., as these aren’t active projects you’re submitting for.

2) When a music supervisor is trying to find music for a project, they send out these things called “briefs” that describe what the supervisor is looking for. Below are ten briefs from completed projects. Please read through them. If any of your tunes fit what the brief describes, click the “submit” button associated with the brief and upload your song.

3) Important - Please only submit MP3s. And tag the filename with the artist name and song title:

I'm looking for music for a montage. The scene is from an indie film called IDEAL HOME - a sweet & fun comedy starring Steve Coogan and Paul Rudd as a successful gay couple with a popular gourmet cooking show and a lifestyle of extravagant late night parties who have to regroup when they discover Steve's got a young grandson who needs them to be parents. The scene is a montage showing Erasmus (Coogan) and his grandson spending the day together and discovering that they don't mind each other's company. They go shopping for junk food and drive with the moonroof open, wind in their hair, looking out at the pretty Southwestern landscape. The vibe that works best is folk pop, layered guitars, and lyrics that could fit metaphorically with the situation of a new (reluctant) friendship or making a new home. It is a low budget indie film, so that's a consideration as well - (no Stones or Van Morrison covers, etc.)

We're looking for some tunes that are uplifting, emotional, and fun. Lyrically, themes of family, coming back together, sisters, etc. Some examples we've thrown around are "We Are Family" and "This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)". We don't want just sappy, it needs to have a sense of fun to show that these people have found each other again and their family is strong, if a bit dysfunctional. Female vocals would be great, but I'll take good male vocals if the song fits the brief.

I'm looking for some backends comedy cues that are fun, upbeat, and cool. Think in the vein of "Uptown Funk" or "Feel RIght" by Mark Ronson. Nothing too aggressive please, no heavy guitar etc. Male vocals please, can be a variety of genres. Hip Hop, rock, pop, funk, etc.

Search #4 I’m looking for some replacements for the majestic “Fool’s Gold by The Stone Roses. Looking for a baby band here, and we just need an instrumental. It needs to have that playful funky vibe that original has, and it can be current. Doesn’t have to be from the 80’s/90’s.

I’m working on a scene where I need to replace Phantogram's “Run Run Blood” - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfs2I5_HdZM The song works well, we just need something more affordable as we’re in the end of season budget crunch. In the scene, a female character is racing through traffic and driving erratically. So we need the music to help convey that sense of urgency with a similar frenetic energy. We don’t know who this character is or why she’s driving this way, so there’s an element of mystery we want the song to play into as well. A female vocal seems ideal for the mystery/haunting vibe.

Working on an atypical scene for the show. We’re creating an ominous, suspense moment and want to use a song to set it up. So, looking for your darker leaning tracks, stuff that can play very eerie, creepy and haunting, with vocals in there. Not too lyric heavy though, more sparse vocals. Maybe some distorted sounds, something that feels a bit unsettling. Will also need to be slow to mid tempo.

Have a scene where one of our characters is working out punching a heavy boxing bag in his garage. Need some good, masculine energy. This could go rock, hip hop, or other genre. Apropos lyrics a plus, but not essential. Must have clean lyrics!

We’re working on the campaign for a fantasy adventure film and looking for mystical, dramatic, mysterious, moody, dark, and driving songs to define the campaign… send us your goth-y modern builders… dynamic tracks with interesting driving percussion… examples of the kinds of stuff we’re thinking are artists like Fever Ray, Zola Jesus, Chelsea Wolfe, Esben and the Witch, Grinderman, Siouxsie etc etc. - stuff that tonally is dark and edgy but also otherworldly with a dark magic vibe… We’re open to indie and mainstream artists alike… lyrically stuff that will play over scenes of sorcerers and monstrous snakes and war elephants, knights in battle, wizards and druids, and swords. lots and lots of swords. other lyric themes that are appropriate are songs about WAR, KING, KINGDOM, RISE, TAKE THE CROWN, BECOMING, TAKE THE THRONE…

We’re working on a massive new superhero project and I’m casting out the net for some radical new jams. Picture a future America: dry and dusty from global warming, desolate and run down, not quite a Mad Max apocalypse scenario but on its way to it. The last of the superheroes has given up, broke down and gotten old, but that hero is still inside him... somewhere… Vibewise I want some thing GRITTY, DARK, MOODY, DESOLATE, EDGY, DIFFERENT. This is like a modern The Good The Bad & The Ugly meets like Watchmen or X-Men in style. We don’t want to do the usual “dark cover” thing on this project - I’d love to hear some new or indie or underground artists, but if you have like a massive artist that has the PERFECT tune then don’t hesitate to send that too… but NO COVERS. Male or Female voices are cool but want a definite hushed and haunted quality … Musically I’m pretty wide open. It could be a dusty dark country tune in the style of the American Cash releases, it could be dark throbbing Nick Cave jam, or a Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross minimal tension thing, or a brooding dark pulsing electro thing, or even a /Jay Z "No Church In The Wild" dark swagger building jam - I JUST WANT REALLY COOL AND UNIQUE MUSIC FOR THIS. Lyrical themes could be about THE END, APOCALYPSE, RUIN, END OF THE WORLD, REDEMPTION, THE JOURNEY, FIGHTING THROUGH, CHASING DEATH, CONFRONTING DEATH/THE END, RISING UP etc etc...
