Grace Potter to Release Debut Solo Album Midnight This Summer PUBLICITY Grace Potter To Release Debut Solo Album Midnight This Summer "Alive Tonight" New Single From Forthcoming Album Available Today Grand Point North Festival Returns September 12 & 13 Tickets On Sale April 8 Photo credit: Josh Reed Grace Potter shares new song "Alive Tonight," the first single from her debut solo album Midnight, to be released later this summer. It's her first new music since 2012's The Lion The Beast The Beat. "Alive Tonight" is available for purchase today. Listen to the song at the link below. Listen: Grace Potter - "Alive Tonight" About her first solo album Grace Potter said: "Everything about this record has been a wild, wonderful odyssey. I explore new sounds with each album I write and this time around I learned to be patient and really allow each song to boil down to its most universal form. Eric Valentine's studio has a creative atmosphere that allows an artist to chase down every crazy idea while producing some of the most exciting, high quality sounds I've ever heard. It's been a life-changing experience and I can't wait to take my live show even deeper and dive into old and new songs!" Grace Potter's hometown music festival, Grand Point North, is returning for its fifth installment this September 12 & 13 at Waterfront Park in Burlington, VT. Early bird tickets are only $69 for a two-day ticket, with only 500 available before they increase to $79. • Musicians Surprise Fans with Election Reminder Calls
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MUSICIANS SURPRISE FANS WITH ELECTION REMINDER CALLS Fans can request election reminder phone calls from rock stars at HeadCount.org; Most calls will be recorded but a few lucky fans will get the real thing New York, NY – Some of the biggest names in music will be hitting the phones over the next week to help get the vote out, calling randomly-selected fans and chatting about the upcoming election. Willie Nelson, ?uestlove of the Roots, and Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips are among the dozen musicians involved with the “Pledge to Vote” campaign staged by HeadCount, a nonpartisan organization that promotes electoral participation. Each artist recorded reminders that will be sent to fans before Election Day via automated phone calls. In addition, most artist participants will be making live calls - surprising fans who expect to only hear a recording. “Let’s get some folks cranked up about this,” said Bob Weir, a HeadCount board member who will also be personally calling dozens of voters. “It’s so important that people, particularly young people, are paying attention and voting so a bunch of cranky old folks don’t steal their future. Hopefully getting a call from a familiar voice will be motivation.” Weir is currently touring with his former Grateful Dead bandmate Phil Lesh under the name Furthur. HeadCount co-chair Marc Brownstein, of The Disco Biscuits, will personally phone dozens of fans from HeadCount's Manhattan office the night before the election, Monday Nov. 1st. Meanwhile, video cameras will be rolling and all the calls will be streamed live on the Web at www.HeadCount.org/Blog and www.Relix.com starting at 9 PM ET.

  • For Immediate Release: Capitol Theatre and Headcount Offer Scholarships for Local Teachers to Attend Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CAPITOL THEATRE AND HEADCOUNT OFFER SCHOLARSHIPS FOR LOCAL TEACHERS TO ATTEND ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM SUMMER TEACHER INSTITUTE The Capitol Theatre has set aside its very best seats for a charitable program to send area schoolteachers to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland for a week of intensive curriculum training. Concertgoers can bid on the coveted Presidential Box—four seats directly overlooking the stage—for most events at the historic Theatre, including recent performances by B.B. King, The Black Crowes, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Drive-By Truckers, Phish's Trey Anastasio, and Furthur's 9-show sold-out run kicking off this week. Proceeds from each Box auction will directly fund scholarships to the Rock Hall's Summer Teacher Institute. The scholarships are part of the "Capitol Community" program that the Theatre runs in partnership with the non-profit organization HeadCount and are open to fulltime educators at accredited learning institutions in Westchester (NY) and Fairfield (CT) counties. Winners will be awarded the full cost of tuition, and in some cases also have their travel and lodging costs covered. Additional funds from the auctions will also be directed to charities selected by artists appearing at the Cap. "Each Presidential Box auction is a chance for an individual to directly support education in the area," says HeadCount executive director Andy Bernstein. "And by bringing rock history into classrooms, we’ll be opening kids’ minds in a whole new way.” More information, including a list of current auctions and the scholarship application, can be found at http://www.thecapitoltheatre.com/capitolcommunity.

  • Grace Potter's Epic Musical Journey Reaches A
Grace Potter’s epic musical journey reaches a new milestone with the arrival of her solo debut, Midnight (to be released August 14 on Hollywood Records), an inspired work that is surprising, revelatory and wildly original. Midnight was recorded and mixed at Barefoot Studios in Hollywood with producer Eric Valentine, whose own diverse discography—from Queens of the Stone Age to Nickel Creek—evidences a similarly adventurous spirit and openness to possibility. If Valentine’s studio work has a distinguishing characteristic, it’s his hard-hitting sonic signature, which is on display throughout Midnight’s dozen tracks. The core studio band consisted of Potter and Valentine on most of the instruments, with Burr on drums and percussion. In addition, members of Potter’s longtime band The Nocturnals: guitarists Scott Tournet and Benny Yurco and bassist Michael Libramento contributed to the sessions, as well as former tour-mates and friends including singer-songwriter Rayland Baxter, Audra Mae, Noelle Skaggs of Fitz & the Tantrums, Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips, and Nick Oliveri of Queens of the Stone Age. “This album is about embracing life as it comes at you – with all its unexpected twists and turns,” says Potter. “I took a much more open approach to songwriting than I have in the past – probably because it was unavoidable. I’ve experienced a huge amount of growth and change in the past two years - both personal and professional, and it can be overwhelming for an artist to find ways to express that in a vacuum. So I tried to strip away the confines of other people’s expectations.

  • Grace Potter Serves up a Solo Album. Also, French Toast by DAN BOLLES PHOTOS: MATTHEW THORSEN
Grace Potter Serves Up a Solo Album. Also, French Toast By DAN BOLLES PHOTOS: MATTHEW THORSEN Grace Potter is an eyeful. In other breaking news that few Vermonters need to be told, Sen. Bernie Sanders is running for president, Lake Champlain has an algae problem and the Red Sox suck at baseball. enlarge Still, as I'm seated across from Potter in the cozy, sun- dappled breakfast nook of her parents' Waitsfield home, she unwittingly assumes a striking pose that stops me mid-chew. Potter is leaning over the well-worn, handmade wooden table tucked in a tall-windowed bay in the corner of a pleasantly cluttered kitchen. As she reaches toward a hanging plant, the multicolored sundress she's wearing drapes loosely on her lithe frame. Late-morning sun filters through the sheer cloth, casting a silhouette of her bare body underneath. For a moment, I am dumbstruck. I realize this sounds like the start of a sleazy romance novel or creepy fan fiction. And I don't mean to sexualize the 32-year-old rock star. She'll happily be the first to tell you she can do that just fine on her own, thank you. What I'm experiencing in the Potters' kitchen is more sensual — and multisensory — than sexual. The sweet, smoky musk of maple-cured bacon hangs in the air. I savor a rich, crumbly mush of griddled French toast, butter and syrup on my tongue. A chipper big-band ditty by the Glenn Miller Orchestra, played softly on a turntable somewhere in the background, teases my ears.
