Iosif RUS Military Journalistic 198 Univers journalistique Universe militaire 6 ROMANIAN MILITARY THINKING Essential Dimension of the Romanian Armed Forces Transformation Process Lieutenant General Dr {tefan D~NIL~ – Chief of the General Staff – When analysing the broad transformation process that the Romanian Armed Forces are undergoing, which is generated, on the one hand, by the need of modernising the institution as a consequence of the evolution of the state and, on the other hand, by the necessity of fully integrating in the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance, we will notice that this process too, as so many others, in fact, has been developed at first at conceptual level, in the “laboratories of analysts”, after which one has begun to put it into practice. Therefore, we should ask ourselves more often: Why is the military thinking considered so important? The transformation of the Romanian Armed Forces into modern armed forces, interoperable with the armed forces of the other allied member states, also requires the change of the normative framework that regulates the establishment and functioning of the organisational structure, this implying not only the system component elements but also the relations between them. An important dimension of the system is the military thinking itself. Starting from the fact that the military institution is based on rules and procedures whose role is to streamline its complex activities and to channel the energies of all the structures involved in a certain mission, in cooperation with the military men belonging to the other NATO or EU member states, one has often considered that the standardisation and interoperability process can be completed only by translating and implementing certain publications from these states, without making any adjustment to the national realities on the ground. It is my firm belief that this is not at all enough regarding the result expected in the domain of adapting the Romanian military thinking to the new political-military realities and the ones of the international security environment, that is why I wish 7 Romanian Military Thinking ~ 1/2012 to draw attention to two examples of situations in which I believe the current state of facts must be considerably improved. The first one refers to dealing with certain topics from the above-mentioned domains by conducting certain studies or presenting elaborated opinions of experts in the field, spread through various publications, many of them even through “Gândirea militar` româneasc`”, which, even if expressing justified criticism or realistic solutions to solve certain problems, have not been considered when drawing up or amending normative acts. The second one refers to an opposite situation, when some articles have been written only as a mental exercise, without any vision regarding their applicability, but only to meet the “requirements” of the individual scientific research programmes, and not oriented towards an actual contribution to the activity of the military organisation. I strongly believe that the theoretical study will be more efficiently guided in order to encourage those ideas that have a practical value by fixing the two mentioned situations as well as by a policy of the military publications, and “Gândirea militar` româneasc`” Journal is instrumental in this respect.     European Research Studies Journal Volume XXIII, Issue 1, 2020 pp. 13-30 The Analysis of Passenger Air Transport Development in Poland over the Period 2010-2018 Submitted 18/11/19, 1st revision 12/12/19, 2nd revision 22/01/19, accepted 20/01/20 Katarzyna Wąsowska1 Abstract: Purpose: The aim of the conducted research was analysis of data regarding aviation activities in the field of passenger transport at Polish airports over the period 2010-2018. Design/Methodology/Approach: The Analysis of the air travel segment referring passenger transport in Polish airports is based on available literature, analysis and statistical documentation of the air transport market for the years 2010-2018. Findings: The Polish market of air services continues to be in a state of flux. The pace at which changes occur results from a combination of external and internal factors, which precondition the behaviour of air carriers and customers, and the operation of airports. When analysing air transport development forecast, we can see a further upward trend in the number of activities of all market participants. That said, in the near future we should be expecting an expansion of connections, erection of state-of-the-art infrastructure, new air services, and above all a growth of importance of Poland on the aviation map of Europe. Practical Implications: Having regard to data included in the study, without a doubt the Polish aviation market should be considered a strongly developing one, having enormous potential ensuing not only from population mobility different EU standards, but also from demographic potential of Poland, gradual wealth gaining of the Polish society, and Poland’s geographic location.
