Since its inception in 1991, the Peach Belt Conference 1, 1991. With the addition of Augusta State, the Peach Belt has become one of the elite conferences in NCAA Division II. ROBERTO HERNANDEZ BASEBALL STADIUM Opened September 18, 2003, the Roberto Hernandez Baseball Stadium is the latest addition to the facilities at USC Aiken. This 1,000-seat, state-of-the-art sta- dium features a beautiful grass surface with all the amenities of a top-notch Division I ballpark. A clubhouse, coaches’ offices, modern press box, training facilities, scoreboard, and 850 covered seats are among the high- lights. The crown jewel is the Roberto Hernandez Hall of Fame room in honor of the 14-year MLB veteran whose gen- erous gift made this facility possible. The Pacers posted a 27-14 record at Roberto Hernandez Stadium in 2004, the stadium’s inaugural season.

J.H. SATCHER SOFTBALL FIELD The USC Aiken Softball team began playing on a new field in 2004. J.H. Satcher Field, the former home of the Pacer baseball squad, was renovated and now serves as the new home for the USCA softball team. The team began playing in the 1,000-seat complex on March 22, 2004. The Lady Pacers defeated Newberry College, 8-0, in that inaugural game and finished the season with a 7-3 record on their new field. J.H. Satcher Field, located conveniently in the middle of campus, includes a climate controlled press box, concession stand, plenty of parking, coaches’ of- fices and a locker room at the field. Included among the 1,000-seats are 500 seats with backs. The playing surface contains all new clay and sod. Pictured at left (top) is a view of the Lady Pacer locker room. Joseph Kucharski, the voice of the Pacers, begins his third season at USC Aiken. A native of Saint Louis, Mo., Kucharski graduated from St. Louis University in 1977. While at SLU, he provided statistics and analysis for the Billiken hockey and women’s softball teams. He completed his graduate studies at the University of Utah where he was on the bowling team for the Utes in the Inter-Mountain Collegiate Conference, briefly holding the record for highest three game series ever bowled in Salt Lake City. Kucharski moved his family from New Jersey to Aiken nine years ago. He has led the “chain gang” for the Schofield Middle School football team, previ- ously provided stats and anaylsis for South Aiken High School football and basketball, and was the public address voice for the Thoroughbred baseball team.
