Her parents named her Billie Jane Lee Lorraine after godmother Billie Holiday, her mother Jane (formerly a big band singer), her mother’s ex-roommate Peggy Lee, and the song ‘Sweet Lorraine’. She is the daughter of the late jazz writer Leonard Feather. The Feathers moved to L.A. when Lorraine was 12; at 18, after two years as a theater arts major at L.A. City College, she returned to New York to pursue an acting career. Some touring, off-Broadway work and the Broadway show ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ followed, interspersed with countless waitressing jobs up and down Manhattan’s West Side. Frequently out of work, and discouraged by more than one restaurateur from pursuing a career in the food service industry, Lorraine decided to try singing. She began working with various jazz and Top 40 bands in and around New York. She sang backup for Petula Clark and Grand Funk Railroad, and finally put her own act together, eventually moving back to L.A., where she sang at local jazz clubs. Soon after, she joined producer Richard Perry’s vocal trio Full Swing and recorded three albums with the group. Lorraine wrote lyrics for most of the songs on these releases, some for classic pieces like Duke Ellington’s “Rockin’ in Rhythm,” the Yellowjackets’ ‘Ballad of the Whale’ and Horace Henderson’s “Big John’s Special” (later heard in the movie ‘Swing Shift’).

    Fourplay Bio For two decades, the contemporary jazz quartet known as Fourplay has enjoyed consistent artistic and commercial success by GraftinG elements of R&B, pop and a variety of other sounds to their unwaverinG jazz foundations. In the course of a dozen recordings – six of which have climbed to the top of Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz Album charts – the superGroup has continued to explore the limitless dimensions and permutations of jazz while at the same time appealinG to a broad mainstream audience. The Fourplay story beGins in 1990, with keyboardist Bob James, who had already established himself as a formidable fiGure in keyboard jazz – not just as an instrumentalist but as a composer and arranGer as well – with solo recordinGs datinG as far back as the mid 1960s. In 1990, James reunited with his old friend, session drummer, producer, composer & recordinG artist Harvey Mason (Herbie Hancock, Barbra Streisand, Notorious B.I.G.), durinG the recordinG of James’ Grand Piano Canyon album. Also involved in the project were Guitarist Lee Ritenour (SerGio Mendes) and bassist/vocalist Nathan East (Barry White, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins). The Grand Piano Canyon sessions marked the Genesis of the Group that eventually came to be known as Fourplay. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1991, and included a blend of jazz, R&B and pop. The oriGinal lineup of James/Ritenour/East/Mason stayed toGether for three successive albums, includinG Elixir (1994), a set that features some hiGh-profile Guest vocalists: Phil Collins, Patti Austin and Peabo Bryson. East also delivers some noteworthy vocal contributions on Elixir, and has continued to do so throuGhout most of Fourplay’s subsequent studio outinGs.

    Dotsero lives up to its "something unique" definition, bringing style, energy, charisma, humor and most importantly spontaneity to each live performance. "When people come to hear Dotsero play, they are not just interested in hearing the music, they want to see the music through performance and feel something as well. Our goal is for our shows to be a total sensory experience," says Stephen Watts, the band's sax player. "The best thing is that anything can happen at one of our performances. Virtually all Dotsero recordings have enjoyed notable national charting success. Jubilee CD hitting #1 for 5 consecutive weeks and #3 for an entire year early in their career. Dotsero's other releases have all charted top 10 to top 20 with their latest studio album being named Best of 2004 Critics Choice Jazziz Magazine. The band has performed with a number of leading jazz acts over the years including Spyro Gyra, the Yellowjackets, Chaka Kahn, Earl Klugh, Herbie Hancock, Lee Ritenour, Wynton Marsalis, Joe Sample, Dave Grusin, Richard Elliott, Nancy Wilson, David Sanborn, the Rippingtons, Norman Brown, Stanley Jordan, David Benoit and Jeff Lorber. Whether at home in Colorado or on the road the world over, Dotsero takes pride in making its live show something people will remember. Few bands have been able to stay together and focused for even a few years, let alone the over 18 years Dotsero has been performing and recording for audiences far and wide. Over the years, Dotsero has racked up an impressive number of awards and honors. The core members received their BA's in music from the University of Colorado.
