EEPC INDIA Invites Participation in INDEE - Jakarta, 2009 (Indian Engineering Exhibition) December 02-05, 2009 In association with MANUFACTURING INDONESIA - 2009 (Manufacturing Machinery, Equipment, Materials and Services Exhibitions) at Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran, Jakarta, Indonesia

Preamble EEPC is pleased to announce its forthcoming INDEE - Jakarta to be held at Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran, Indonesia from 2nd to 5th December, 2009. This is a major initiative towards consolidating Indian presence into the Indonesian market. Our INDEE is coincided with Manufacturing Indonesia which, in its 20th year, is considered to be one of the major events - not only in Indonesia, but also entire ASEAN, encompassing manufacturing machinery, equipments etc. The last edition of this exhibition attracted 1,488 exhibitors from 33 countries with approximately 35,500 business visitors in attendance. This exhibition will be supported by the following trade associations of Indonesia in order to draw attention of their members to visit our event: Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) Department of Industry, Republic of Indonesia ASIMPI - Indonesian Machine Tool Industries Association ASPEP - Association of Metalwork and Machinery AIPPINDO - Indonesian Precision Tooling Industry Association GIAMM - Indonesian Automotive Parts & Components Industries Association HKI - Indonesian Industrial Estate Association IMDIA - Indonesian Mould & Dies Industry Association About Indonesia Indonesia has emerged as one of the most potential countries in the South East Asian Region immediately after Singapore. India’s engineering exports achieved a growth of 2.09% during 2008-09 over the previous year, which has lot of scope for growth. The recent trend in the export growth of engineering products and services to Indonesia could be a focal point to capitalize on the opportunities existing over there. Indonesia boasts one of South East Asia’s most vibrant economies, the fruit of decades of industrial growth and political stability. Indonesia’s Business Scenario Indonesia has the largest economy in South East Asia, and is one of the emerging market economies of the world. It has a market-based economy in which the government plays a significant role by owning more than 164 state-owned enterprises. As per “The Economist” estimated GDP for 2008 was US$ 510.8 billion. The economy’s performance in the first quarter of 2009, when real GDP grew by 4.4% year on year, was surprisingly strong, mainly owing to the resilience of private consumption. In 2008 merchandise exports (fob) rose by 18% to US$ 139 billion and imports (fob) expanded by 36.6% to US$ 116 billion. Major imports are Machinery and Electrical Equipment (26% of total import) and Base Metals (11.9% of total import). Industrial sector has more than 40% contribution in GDP with major industries including petroleum and natural gas, textiles, apparel, and mining. Indonesia’s machine tool & metalworking industries are creating higher demand for machines, technology and solutions.

Paraguay Paraguay has turned into a highly profitable market particularly for Indian SMEs. India’s exports to Paraguay have increased manifold largely due to the increasing demand for Indian products in Paraguay. Trade between India and Paraguay stood at around US$ 46.99 million during 2007-08, marking a 56% increase, as compared to 2006-07. Indian SMEs that have ventured into the Paraguayan market have benefited from its investment friendly policies and business conducive environment. The global crisis has triggered a fundamental change in the mindset of Latin American business towards India. The crisis has tightened the availability of local financial resources and credit. Price is the main concern and this has led them to look for less expensive import sources like India. India’s exports to Latin America are set to increase in the coming years because of the favourable market conditions prevailing in the region and the positive mindset of Latin Americans towards India. Taking all these factors into consideration and the vast avenues available for increasing our share of exports to this region, EEPC INDIA is fielding Multi Product Trade Delegation, with the active support of Indian Embassies, Chambers of Commerce and Trade Associations in these countries. Netherlands

India’s investment interests

The Netherlands is also gradually becoming an attractive destination for investments from India and figures amongst the top destinations. As per the Reserve Bank of India, the Government of India cleared proposals worth about • 2.38 bln ($ 3.5 bln)(r.o.e. 1• = $ 1.47) for investments by Indian organizations in the Netherlands during the financial year 2008-09 (April-March).

Some of the big corporate houses from India, like TCS, HCL, Wipro, Infosys, Satyam, Moser Baer, Safal, Suzlon, ONGC Videsh and Jet Airways, to name a few, have already based their Europe-wide operations and have impressive business portfolios in the Netherlands. A new milestone was crossed by the Indian business with the historic investment in steel giant Corus by Tatas. Indian companies with cutting-edge capabilities in the field of renewable energy and optical media have also established themselves in the Netherlands. Recently, Apollo Tyres in India have acquired a majority stakeholding in the Dutch producer of tyres, Vredestein. At present there are approximately 40 Indian companies having establishments in the Netherlands.

Important Notice

OMAN Larsen & Toubro Heavy Engineering LLC is expected to formally launch operations at its state-of-the-art yard in the Port of Sohar in November, 2009. The new L&T plant will give a technological push to Oman’s burgeoning industrial engineering sector. The project, which is a joint venture of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and The Zubair Corporation of Oman, is destined to seize greater market share in the manufacture of critical equipment for the GCC’s rapidly expanding hydrocarbons and petrochemicals industries. It would be the first-of-its-kind facility specialising in the fabrication of mega-dimensioned and high-tech equipment for the process industry. The L&T yard features a covered fabrication shop of around 12,000 square metres fitted out with an array of sophisticated manufacturing systems. It is also equipped to manufacture precision custom-designed and engineered critical equipment and systems for core sector industries, such as refineries, petrochemical and fertilizer projects, and other process industries and power plants in the region. In addition to the expertise in the handling of metals and the engineering of complex metallurgical product, the facility will also cater to the specialist needs of high-tech industries across the Middle East. L&T Heavy Engineering LLC has the advantageous access to a dedicated 300-metre-long jetty at the Port of Sohar designed to handle loadouts of ultra-heavy modules in excess of 10,000 metric tones. Furthermore, its location adjacent to the equally state-of-the-art fabrication facility of its sister concern, the L&T Modular Fabrication Yard LLC, promises complementary synergies that either venture can capitalize on in securing high-end contracts. The Modular Fabrication Yard specialises in the fabrication of offshore marine structures. Its expertise covers the fabrications of jack-up and semi-submersible rigs, the conversion and integration of Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) systems, and other high-end offshore structures. L&T Heavy Engineering LLC has already bagged a contract for the manufacture of two critical systems for a major refinery project. Made of special alloy steel with stainless steel overlay, the systems are due for delivery by the end of this year. Significantly, the project will contribute to the transfer of specialist engineering technology and applications. Some young Omanis are also getting trained by the L&T officials at a state-run vocational training institute in the Batinah region. A number of high-school graduates are presently being groomed in specialised trades like welding, fitting, and so on. For further details, please contact : Shri Anil Wadhwa Embassy of India P.O.
