Billesdon: 18 deeds to Charity Property, 1623-1773, and a copy of Chancery Decree, 1682, confirming Goadby Enclosure Agreement of 1676. 2. Newtown Linford: Registers, 1654-1929, and civil records, 1716-1920, including papers concerning Settlement, bastardy, poor relief and apprenticeship. 3. FAMILY RECORDS Grey MSS.: Muniments of Title and Estate Plans, chiefly of the 18th-19th centuries, of the Earls of Stamford in Leicestershire in and around Groby and in Breedon. 18th-century volume of estate maps including pre-enclosure and enclosure maps for Breedon-on-the-Hill, Tonge, and Wilson and enclosure maps for Anstey, Groby, and Ratby. Hazlerigg MSS. : Muniments of Title to lands at Noseley, Ilston, Goadby, and in Northampton and Northumberland, and Family Settlements and papers, 1373-1897. Howe MSS. : Deeds and Documents, mainly 19th-century papers on estate admini stration covering Leicestershire and other counties, and including a mid-19th century detailed Survey of all the family estates. Packe MSS. (2nd Deposit) : 39 diplomatic letters and papers, 1627-1666, of Sir Richard Fanshawe, Latin Secretary to Charles II and Ambassador in Spain, and including letters to and from King Charles II. (14 D 57). LEICESTERSHIRE AND RUTLAND NOTES SCHEDULED MONUMENTS The following have been scheduled this year : Hinckley. The Moats, Stoke Golding (V. C. H. Leics. i. 270). Sproxton. Deserted village at Bescaby. RESEARCH BY MEMBERS Mr. W. A. G. Pace has compiled a card-index of Deserted Medieval Villages in the county, with map references and references to literature and aerial photographs. Five--Andreschurch, Newbold Folville, Prestgrave, Willowes, and Woodcote-still remain to be located by country walkers. Mr. G. H. Green has added half-a-dozen further sites to Dr. Hoskins's original list. NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ALMSHOUSES The Hon. Secretary has been concerned in assisting this body to obtain members locally. The Association has a fine record of almshouses saved and modernised. The following Leicestershire almshouses are members : Moore's Almshouses, Appleby Magna.
