PIT AREA Animals are not permitted at Phillip Island GP Circuit(Guide Dogs excepted). No alcohol is to be carried or consumed in the pit area until after the close of racing. Only pit crew will be allowed on Pit-lane. People using Pit-lane must wear adequate protective footwear. Children under 16 not permitted in Pit-lane. Welcome Victorian Road Racing Championship Round 3 – Phillip Island GP Circuit 25 & 26 August 2018 The Preston Motorcycle Club in conjunction with Motorcycling Victoria welcome all competitors, spectators and supporters to Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit for Round 3 of the Victorian Road Race Championships 2018. It has been an exciting series to date in Victoria and this round, with full grids and at the Phillip Island International GP circuit is looking to be top class. Our main sponsors will be CYKEL, Pirelli, Motul and this year we welcome Shannons Insurance to the fold, as well as our usual sponsors including Pablo's Tyres, Ashburton Service Centre, Victorian Motorcycle Wreckers and Ricondi Lesthers Australia. We will also have the support of Race Marshals Victoria in control of the racing, rain hail or shine and Computime to ensure everything runs safely and smoothly. This round will see the traditional Harvey Wiltshire and Hughie Hoare feature races for the Superbike and Supersport classes respectively as endurance races at the Phillip Island round. The Harvey Wiltshire Memorial Trophy, which was first contested in 1951 and (other than 1965) has been competed for every year since. It is the longest-running trophy for road racing in Australia. The Harvey Wilshire perpetual trophy can boast some of the biggest names in Australian racing, many who went on to achieve success on the international stage – Ken Blake, Gregg Hansford, Robbie Phillis, Daryl Beattie and Steve Martin to name just a few. Recent winners include Brayden Elliott (2016) and Chas Hern (2015) and Tyson Jones (2017. Both races have trophies and prize money as well as counting toward the VRRC Championship. Bets are on to see if Nathan Jones can get his name up there beside brother Tyson. A slight last-minute program change, with the Formula 1 class being oversubscribed. The change will see the BEARS Formula 1 & 2 taken out of the formula 1 race, to run their own race. This is to keep the track below limit and safe. Riders who use Pirelli tyres will be eligible for entry into the two random draw prize giveaways and selected classes have contingency prizes available for riders using Pirelli tyres. Trophies will be awarded for the first 3 place getters in each class at every round including B and C grade for Superbike and Supersport. Trophies and prize money will be presented to the first 3 place getters in the Harvey Wiltshire and Hughie Hoare feature races at the conclusion of the weekend. Competitors are eligible for the contingency prizes, if running Pirelli tyres and stickering; Superbikes: At each round. First outright – 1 set of Pirelli tyres. Second outright – 1 rear Pirelli tyre. Third outright – 1 front Pirelli tyre. Both B and C grade 1st $250 Cykel dollars 2nd $150 Cykel dollars, 3rd $75 Cykel dollars Supersport: At each round. First outright – 1 set of Pirelli tyres. Second outright – 1 rear Pirelli tyre. Third outright – 1 front Pirelli tyre. Both B and C grade 1st $250 Cykel dollars 2nd $150 Cykel dollars 3rd $75 Cykel dollars Random Draw: 2 riders will be drawn randomly at each round, from competitors who have used Pirelli tyres at that round.     PRESS RELEASE Stezzano, Italy, 31st July 2018 BREMBO CELEBRATES 40 YEARS OF WINNING IN MOTOGP August 20,1978 marked the first victory in the 500CC Class of the two-wheeled World Championship with Brembo brakes. Today, after 40 years, Brembo counts 472 victories in 500/MotoGP and is the choice of 100% of the riders. August 20th marks the 40th anniversary of Brembo's first victory in the premier class of the MotoGP World Championship. On August 20,1978 Virginio Ferrari, riding a Suzuki RG500 for the Gallina team, won the 500 class at the West German Grand Prix on the legendary 22.835 km Nürburgring circuit. At that time, Brembo had just a 100 employees and the unofficial Suzuki driven by Virginio Ferrari, in what was the premier class, the "500cc Class", had Brembo 2-piston calipers 38 mm Gold Series, an axial pump Brembo 15.87 and 2 front discs, also Brembo, in 280 mm cast iron. Today, Brembo has over 10,000 employees, the brake discs used in MotoGP are carbon also with rain conditions, and the victories accumulated in the 500/MotoGP class, as of July 30, 2018 are 472. The last victory of a bike without Brembo brakes in the premier class of the world championship dates back to May 21, 1995. Notwithstanding Brembo brakes are not imposed by regulation, in the last 23 years all the best riders have always chosen Brembo brake systems, with the awareness that to go fast you also have to brake hard. The rider who won the most with Brembo is Valentino Rossi.

Marc Márquez came perilously close to ending 2017 in the Turn One kitty litter in Valencia after out-braking himself three-quarters of the way through the season-closing Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana. However, the preco - ciously talented Spaniard narrowly averted disaster by pulling off the kind of miraculous save that only he can. Andrea Dovizioso, his sole rival for the coveted crown, found himself trapped behind Ducati team-mate Jorge Lorenzo for much of the race. The Italian looked primed to pounce on Márquez’s mistake when Lorenzo came unstuck and beached his bike in the Turn Five gravel not long after his countryman’s error, only for Dovizioso to follow suit three corners later... The destiny of the MotoGP laurels very nearly changed hands in just those few short laps but, ultimately, Márquez held on to secure his fourth premier class title in five years, with Dovizioso a commendable second at the end of a similarly impressive campaign.
