Some inter-departmental correspondence is filed by subject matter, including the correspondence of Sidney Dillon & Jay Gould. This year includes correspondence concerning the consolidation of the Kansas Pacific and the Colorado Central Railroad; discussion of Douglas Co. Bonds; a continuance of the exchange of 10% Incomes for Sinking Fund Bonds. The financial agency of the company changed from Morton, Bliss & Co. to Union Trust Co. in June of this year. Morton, Bliss & Co. continue as agents of Foreign Exchange via Morton, Rose & Co. in London. The UP sued the Government for payment of Transportation, and the U.S. sued the Union Pacific for its debt to the Government on net earnings.
