Students may choose from a wide variety of career majors. We offer college credit through the Cooperative Alliance with Rose State College. I encourage all of our students to take advantage of this opportunity. Mid-Del Technology Center offers the classic tradition of personalized education with a dedicated faculty and staff. We encourage our students to become active learners, attend class regularly, and seek out opportunities to associate with fellow students through their student organizations, and to take advantage of the many resources our Tech Center has to offer. MDTC is the only technology center in Oklahoma to operate under a public school board of education. Our programs serve juniors and seniors from three high schools: Del City, Midwest City, Carl Albert, as well as students who are home-schooled or attending a private school within Mid-Del District. We also offer both full-time and part-time occupational programs for adult students as well as training developed specifically to meet the needs of business and industry. Our Tinker Training Campus offers training customized to current personnel requirements at Tinker AFB. We are glad to have you here and hope that your time with us will be educationally profitable for you. We hope that you will participate in our varied activities and thus find those things within our school that will prepare you to live a better life and take your place in this complex society. Remember that your success in this school will be directly proportional to your efforts. In order that we may maintain quality training, it is necessary to establish certain regulations to guide you. The following regulations will help all students become better school citizens: SCHOOL HOURS Morning session: 7:45 AM - 10:25 AM Afternoon session: 11:15 AM – 1:50 for high school/ 2:00 for adults ENTRANCE Students can apply online at www.middeltech.com or in person. Students are admitted based on their interest, indicators of ability, and their aptitude and performance in past school work. All adult students will be assessed through the use of Interest Inventory instruments, and an assessment instrument. A $20.00 assessment fee is required. This fee is Non-Refundable. All previous education and/or training will be evaluated and credit given when and where appropriate. Current adult students are pre-enrolled in May prior to the next school year beginning in August. HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT High School students may earn 1.5 units on their high school transcript for each semester successfully completed. ADULT ENROLLMENT Adults may enroll on an open entry/open exit basis in several programs. A high school diploma is not required for entry, with the exception of Practical Nursing applicants. However, students must have either a high school diploma or high school equivalency test, such as the GED, to receive federal financial aid. ENROLLMENT PROCEDURES FOR NEW ADULT STUDENTS 1. Enrollment will become official when the adult student has completed all necessary enrollment papers, paid $100.00 deposit or secured financial aid (Pell Grant, Tribal, Vocational Rehabilitation, etc), and has been accepted into desired MDTC program. 2. Adults may enroll for one half of a day (2 hours 40 min. for am classes & 2 hours 45 min. for pm classes) or for a full day of five hours and twenty-five minutes. 3. Adult students follow the same academic calendar as the high school students and Mid-Del Public Schools 4. New adults may pre-enroll for the following academic year beginning in February 5. Students must either provide proof of financial aid or pay a $100 deposit to become pre-enrolled. The deposit is non-refundable. The deposit will be applied toward the first semester’s supply fee as indicated on the enrollment document and account statement. NOTE: The Practical Nursing program’s policies, procedures, and costs are different and may be found in Addendum A. Returning adults should have approval from their instructor and be making a satisfactory grade of a “C” or better to continue in their current program. A $100.00 deposit or proof of financial aid is required at the time of pre-enrollment. 7 TUITION The tuition rate for adult students is $2.50 per clock hour. Each program also requires additional fees, including but not limited to personal protective equipment, background checks, textbooks, and lab fees. Tuition may be paid in monthly installments as agreed upon by the Director/ Assistant Director and the Financial Secretary. Textbooks and classroom fees may require pre-payment. REFUND POLICY FOR SELF-PAY AND FINANCIAL AID STUDENTS Legal Reference: Public Law 102-325 If a student withdraws PRIOR to the first day of class they will receive a refund of all tuition, less $25 ($75 for Practical Nursing students). Non-refundable fees include: testing fee, $100 deposit, background checks, and textbooks. If a student withdraws within the first three weeks they will receive a refund of one-half of all tuition. Students who receive a Federal Pell Grant from MDTC and who withdraw (officially or unofficially) will be subject to the “Return of Title IV” regulations. The date established as the student’s official withdrawal date will be used to calculate the Return of Title IV funds. For those students who have been unofficially withdrawn, the student’s last
