Pentecost Sunday John 15:26-27; 16:12-15 or John 20:19-23 Acting with Courage Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability. (Acts 2: 3-4)

Living the Word: The Holy Spirit can be a difficult concept for children to under- stand. Wind is often used to describe the Holy Spirit. We know that wind can be pow- erful and move things, and it can be a gentle presence moving the grass, branches, and flowers.

A pinwheel is a helpful way for children to understand the power of wind and to think about the Holy Spirit. You can either buy pinwheels or have your children make their own. Make sure you use red streamers to decorate them. Red is a color associated with the Holy Spirit. After putting the pinwheels together, put them outside in the ground or by an open window on a windy day to remind them of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost.

And don’t forget to have a birthday party for our Church!

Questions of the Week Child: When and where do you need the Holy Spirit’s help to speak out? Adult: When has the Holy Spirit given you the strength to act with courage?

Fun Facts for Catholic Kids: On May 25th, we celebrate the Feast of 3 ! St. , St. Gregory VII who was a , and St. of Pazzi. Wow, perhaps you can look each one of them up and learn some- thing about them. But I am going to focus on St. Bede today.

He was a monk and was the first one to use the words Anno Domini or A.D. to date events. He was given the title “Venerable” to honor his wisdom and learning but his favorite prayer was a simple one. Maybe you know it. If you don’t, maybe you’d like to memorize it: “Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the begin- ning, is now, and will be forever. Amen”.

Many of you have been asking or wondering about Vacation Bible School (VBS) this year! We’re excited to announce that this summer, we are hosting a virtual VBS on St. Patrick and the Holy Trinity! Here is how it would work: We are asking families to register and pay a small fee ($20 - $25) to cover the cost of the home kits, which would include a book, CD, and craft materials for each child. You would come by the church to pick up the kits. You will also receive links to watch prepared videos for each day! Additionally, VBS will not be limited to one week this year! Since it is virtual, families can participate at any point during the summer! Right now, if you are interested, please email Anne Doyle, so she knows how many of our families would like to take part in our virtual VBS. You can reach her at [email protected]. We would also like for you to take pictures or videos of your child or children doing the activities, so we can post it on our Facebook page and website! So our question for you is: Who wants to set sail with St. Patrick and the Holy Trinity this summer? Congratulations to all of our youth who were recently confirmed! May the Holy Spirit guide and embolden you to live out your faith with zeal and courage!
