July 18, 2021 From the Desk of Fr. Henry Dear Parishioners, We have all heard about Families of Parishes at different times. The concept of Families of Parishes is designed to share available resources among neighboring parishes. Our family will consist of St. Mary, St. John the Baptist, St. Michael, St. Anne, and St. Charles in Newport. In the ‘Family’ the clergy, staff and those who serve in leadership positions will collaborate in a more deliberate way to serve all the faithful. I know change is sometimes hard to accept and the past year and half we have seen many changes due to different circumstance beyond our control. If we look at the history of the church, we see changes have been made to accommodate different evolving needs of the church. The changes are made especially to grow in its missionary and evangelizing efforts. The Archdiocese has discerned that the Local Church of Detroit must grow in its missionary nature. In order to best to accomplish this task and to take care of the needs of the faithful, the Archdiocese is embarking on this great adventure called Families of Parishes. MASS SCHEDULE You can find more details at www.familiesofparishes.org. Saturday (St. Anne): 4:30pm This new model will allow the priests, deacons, and lay staff associated with each Sunday (St. Charles): parish to better share their gifts and talents with the whole family of parishes, will 8am, 10am, & 12pm allow for greater collaboration and alignment toward the mission: Just like the early Church and the missionary activity of the early apostles, the transition to this new Weekday Masses structure will require docility to the Holy Spirit, a spirit of collaboration and Monday & Wednesday: innovation, and confidence in God who continues to lead us in our mission to unleash 8:30am (St. Charles) the Gospel in southeast Michigan. Tuesday & Friday (except 1st Friday): Please know that this great project, enabled by the Holy Spirit, will take off only 9:00am (St. Anne) though our prayerful support. So I humble request is to pray for the success of this adventure. First Friday: 8:30am (St. Charles) First Saturday: 8am Holy Hour & On July 28th 6:30pm, I extend my invitation to all of you for the Family gathering at 9am Mass (St. Charles) Knights of Columbus Hall, Monroe. There will be light finger food and refreshments served at the Hall. It’s a great opportunity to meet our new ‘family’ members and get CONFESSIONS: to know more about parishes. 3:00pm Saturdays at St. Anne 6:30pm Tuesdays at St. Charles Blessings, Fr. Hendrico Rebello SAC Parish Mission Statement: "We the parishioners of St. Anne and St. Charles Borromeo welcome everyone to join us as a band of joyful missionary disciples, proclaiming the salvation of Jesus Christ through worship and service to all."

In the case of the genealogy of Jesus Christ (see Me 1:125), we learn that of the twelve sons of Jacob (who also is known as Israel), Judah is one of Jesus’ ancestors. Furthermore, we see in v. 6 that King David share the same ancestor.
