Fire Season From page 1 “The light moisture and cooler temper- atures we received last week didn’t last long as we have warm and dry conditions upon us again to keep us in declared fire season. As hunting season and other fall outdoor activities arrive, please be fire safe and careful at all times,” stated Randall Baley. With Fire Season still in effect, regulations restricting debris burning and forest op- erations are still in place. Wildland and structural fire protection agencies in Klamath County have agreed to prohibit all outdoor debris burning as do the agencies in Lake County unless a per- mit is first obtained. Forest operations that require a Permit to Operate Power Driven Machinery are required to have Fire tools, on-site water supply, and watchman ser- vice on privately owned forest land. EDITOR’S NOTE: The above press re- lease is dated September 28, 2017. At press time, the local fire danger warning sign in Christmas Valley indicated “LOW.” Please contact your local fire protection agency for the most current burning restrictions. C.V.R.F.P.D.

Several studies have shown EPA to help relieve people suffering from de- pression. DHA, or Docosahexaenoic acid, is the other key OMEGA-3 fatty acid. DHA is found high in concentrations in the brain and the retina of the eye, where it is part of several important phospholipids. It has been studied for its ability to help in- hibit colon and prostate cancer cells. Taken together in fish oil, there is strong evidence that EPA and DHA can help with high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease, especially in high risk individuals. When they are taken by pregnant women EPA and DHA were found to have beneficial effects on the children, such as reduced allergies and improved neurological devel- opment. Vitamin D, which is a component of some fish oil blends, plays an important role in bone health, strength, and helps modulate hormone secretion and immune system function. Similarly, vitamin E (a potent antioxident which plays a role in cellular communication), and vitamin C (which provides stability to collagen, helps synthesize neurotransmitters and helps create energy through the breakdown of fatty acids) are often added to fish oil. Orange essential oils, which can be a flavorful addition to fish oil, aid in diges- tive system with indigestion and diarrhea.
