Oct. 23, 2019 for Immediate Release Raiders Sign DE Kasim Edebali Oct. 23, 2019 For Immediate Release Raiders Sign DE Kasim Edebali ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed DE Kasim Edebali, the club announced Wednesday. Edebali, a 6-foot-2, 253-pound defensive end, joins the Raiders for his sixth year in the NFL after entering the league in 2014 as an undrafted free agent and spending his first three seasons (2014-16) with the New Orleans Saints. Edebali would go on to spend the 2017 campaign with the Denver Broncos and Detroit Lions and most recently appeared in action with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2018. Over his career, Edebali has appeared in 62 contests and made two starts, logging 49 tackles (36 solo), eight sacks, three passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. A native of Hamburg, Germany, Edebali has appeared in 16 contests in three different campaigns and set a single- season career high of five sacks in 2016 with the Saints. Edebali played his collegiate ball at Boston College, appearing in 49 contests and totaling 166 tackles (88). 11 sacks, 15 passes defensed, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. Additionally, the Raiders have signed OL Kyle Kalis to the team’s practice squad. Kalis is a 6-foot-4, 306-pound offensive lineman that entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Washington Redskins in 2017. He appeared in three games for the Indianapolis Colts that season after being claimed by the club from the Redskins. Last season, the former Michigan Wolverine appeared in four games with the Cleveland Browns. .

  • Heuerman, Jeff
Broncos TE Jeff Heuerman sees expanded role in fourth NFL season By Kyle Fredrickson Denver Post Oct. 13, 2018 Jeff Heuerman lined up at outside wide receiver against Kansas City on the Broncos’ most critical offensive series, trailing by 4 points with a minute left, when the fourth-year tight end made what should have been the most important catch of his young career. Heuerman ran a deep seam route into the Chiefs’ zone coverage, caught a dart from quarterback Case Keenum in Kansas City territory and then rumbled 15 yards through contact for a 36-yard gain. Of course, the Broncos’ comeback effort fell short. The play erased from Denver lore forever. Heuerman, like his teammates, is frustrated by now three consecutive losses with the Rams arriving Sunday at Mile High. But excuse his momentary smile when asked about instilling fear in undersized defensive backs on those long catch-and-runs. “Tight end is a fun position,” Heuerman said. Even more so when your role is essential to the Broncos’ success, and for the first time in Heuerman’s Denver tenure, he’s earned that recognition. His 11 catches over five games already eclipsed his total from last year (nine). Heuerman is also on pace to shatter his receiving yardage mark, too, with 107 gained entering Week 6. The obstacles to this point were many. Heuerman, a 2015 third-round NFL draft pick, missed his rookie season with a torn ACL. He started two games the following year and six last season. Veteran Broncos tight end Virgil Green signed with the Chargers in March and 2017 fifth-round NFL draft pick Jake Butt tore his ACL in September.
