  • Jeremy Jordan
    Jeremy Jordan Jeremy Jordan was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was always a singer, but at the age of 17, he accidentally fell in love with acting when cast as The Mute in the musical, The Fantasticks. After high school, Jeremy went on to study drama at Ithaca College and moved to New York City after graduating in 2007. After about a year of catering and waiting tables, he began to book some regional theatre work, and in early 2009, landed his first Broadway show, Rock of Ages. He was a swing, understudying several roles including the lead. In December of 2009, he left Rock of Ages to play Tony in Broadway's West Side Story. After West Side Story, Jeremy traveled to Sarasota, Florida to play Clyde Barrow opposite Laura Osnes in Bonnie & Clyde. He then headed to Atlanta, Georgia to shoot his first feature film, “Joyful Noise,” opposite Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah. Todd Graff, who wrote and directed the film, decided to cast him in the movie after coincidentally attending Jeremy's very first performance as the lead in Rock of Ages. In the fall of 2011, Jeremy fulfilled a childhood dream when he was cast as Jack Kelly in Disney's world premiere production of Newsies at Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey. He played Jack at night, and during the day rehearsed Bonnie & Clyde, which was coming to Broadway shortly after Newsies finished its regional run. Bonnie & Clyde opened on Broadway in November, 2011 but sadly would close after only 69 performances.

Advisor Professor Mandy Fox, M.F.A. Professor Kristine Kearney, M.F.A. Copyright by Sarah Sugarbaker 2009 Abstract In April of 2009 the Ohio State University Theatre Department produced Godspell, a musical originally conceived by John‐Michael Tebelak with music by Stephen Schwartz. This production was built and technically rehearsed in the Thurber Theatre, and then moved to the Southern Theatre in downtown Columbus, OH. As the scenic designer of this production I developed an environment in which the actors and director created their presentation of the text. Briefly, the director’s concept (Appendix A) for this production was to find a way to make the production relevant to the local population. Godspell centers around the creation and support of a community, so by choosing to reference the City Center Mall, an empty shopping center in downtown Columbus, the need for making a change as a community was emphasized. This environment consisted of three large walls that resembled an obscured version of the Columbus skyline, inspired by advertisements within the shopping center. Each wall had enlarged newspapers that could be seen under a paint treatment of vibrant colors. The headlines on these papers referenced articles that the local paper has written about the situation at the shopping center, therefore making the connection more clear.

Playreaders, advisers on repertoire and textual, critical and practical experts working in partnerships with directors and/or writers are accepted as an integral part of theatre-making. Similarly, though the history is much more recent, advances in American theory and practice since the 1960s mean that dramaturgy and literary management are now embedded both in subsidised theatre and as recognised disciplines in academic curri- cula at over forty universities.1 The latest edition of Brockett’s standard theatre history contains significant new sections on both fields, seeking to define differences while acknowledging that the concept of the dramaturg is still not widely understood.2 England is now belatedly following in the wake of continental and US practice, and its dramaturgical cultures have undergone an extraordinary transformation, particularly in the last decade – a pace of change still so great that it is difficult to keep abreast of developments. Though literary managers became official only in 1963 with the arrival of Tynan at the National Theatre, and professionalisation was at first slow, it quickened exponentially in the 1990s and the number of appointments continues to rise. Literary managers are now key figures intheartisticrunningofmanytheatres,andthedeploymentofdrama- turgs, who in England most commonly develop new plays, has become widespread. This book explores the origins and causes of this recent and revolutionary sea change in English theatre culture: the profession- alisation of literary management and dramaturgy.

    Cast, Crew & Orchestra Principals, Featured Vocalists & Seniors Andrew Aukerman - Orchestra This is Andy Aukerman's second year as a violinist in the Orchestra pit, having completely enjoyed being a part of Thoroughly Modern Millie. He has been a member of the Orchestra since 3rd grade and made PMEA Honors Orchestra this year. Andy is looking forward to life as a college student next year, hopefully at Rice University, or perhaps at UT Austin, Pitt, or NCSU. He plans on studying biomedical engineering, with aspirations to change the medical field and save lives. Andy also pole vaults and is the co-president of Peer-to-Peer Empowerment. Andy would like to thank his parents for their never ending support and Ms. Panza for her wonderful direction. Additionally, he thanks his teachers for the knowledge and wisdom, both academic and non-academic, he has gained during his 4 years at Pine-Richland. Melanie Berexa - Catherine Melanie, a senior, is so thrilled to be playing the role of Catherine in this year’s musical. Last year, Melanie played Ruth, a Pricilla Girl, in Thoroughly Modern Millie. Before joining the PR Musicals, Melanie was a student at Lincoln Park Performing School where she participated in The Secret Garden, White Christmas, The Miracle Worker, and several other shows. She has also participated in Jeter Backyard Theatre and recently played the role of Rose in Bye Bye Birdie. Melanie would like to thank Jim Scriven, Laura Wurzell, Joy Hess, Carole Rost, her fellow cast members, crew and orchestra for making this musical such a great experience.

Actors interested in auditioning for our spring productions must read this packet thoroughly to learn about the auditions, rehearsals and performances for each production. In this packet you will find: Information about auditions and callbacks Details about rehearsals and performances for each show Audition selections Forms to be filled out and turned in during your audition Preliminary Auditions Monday, January 23rd and Tuesday, January 24th from 6-8:30pm You can sign up for your audition time slot through our website (www.wolfperformingartscenter.org). All actors will audition for the directors of INTO THE WOODS, Jr. and PIPPIN at the same time. Audition monologues can be found in this packet. Callbacks Following the preliminary auditions, each director will call back actors to read for specific roles in each play.
