The College is an interesting, cultural meeting point where students from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds have the opportunity to study together, experience shared campus life, get to know one another in an unmediated forum and become familiar with the social-cultural blend that typifies the western Galilee. We are proud of the tolerant, tranquil atmosphere at the College. In the next few years the College will open new exclusive fields of study based on the advantages offered by the region and its residents. We intend to establish a Department for Conservation of Historical Sites drawing on Akko’s rich historical heritage; a degree program in Theater and Performing Arts which will include specializations in educational theater, movement and dance which will be based on Akko’s tradition as the home of Fringe Theater and the nationally renowned Kibbutz Ga’aton’s dance group. Furthermore, the first School of Management in the Galilee, will be built on the College campus, emphasizing financial management and entrepreneurship. I firmly believe that the College will be the leading institute it set out to be, offering a respected home of excellence for thousands of students, researchers and creators. Appendix 1(v) SEIZED DOCUMENTS: TARGETING POPULATION CENTERS IN ISRAEL USING UPGRADED 122 MM GRAD ROCKET POSITIONS 1. On August 11, 2006, during the second Lebanon war, three files were found in the village of Aita al-Shaab in the central sector of south Lebanon. They contained range cards for three 120 mm mortar and 122 mm upgraded Grad rocket fired from positions in the region of Shihin. The range cards were dated December 2005 and were for 122 mm upgraded Grad rockets (with a range of 20 km – 12.5 miles). The range cards belonged to the artillery department of the Nasr Unit, the unit responsible for the area south of the Litani River, and operating under the command of the Jihad Council.1 2. It should be noted that most of the rockets fired at Israel during the war were various types of 122 mm rockets (HE-frag rockets, cluster bombs, and upgraded rockets with extended range). The following data are for an upgraded Grad rocket: 1 The Jihad Council is a department within the Hezbollah headquarters, responsible for building up the organization’s military power and preparing it for emergencies. Hajj Imad Mughniyah, Hassan Nasrallah’s military deputy, heads it. He is wanted by the United States for the many terrorist attacks he has carried out against American targets. In addition, Argentina has issued an international warrant for his arrest because of his involvement in the 1994 bombing of the Jewish Community Center in Buenos Aires. 2 Upgraded 122 mm Grad rocket Diameter: 122 mm. Range: 20 km (12.5 miles)* Warhead weight: 66 kg (145 lbs) Manufacturer: China, Iran, Russia, Bulgaria * There are also upgraded Grad rockets with ranges of 30-40 kilometers (18- 25 miles), however, the seized range cards referred to rockets with a range of 20 kilometers Firing Position No.

Matzuva is a community on an upward trend with children galore and now after many discussions with the Mateh Asher Regional Council Kibbutz Matzuva has decided by a large majority vote to be the site for the opening of an anthroposophy* school for five years with the option of a further two year extension and the intention to build a new and permanent school at Matzuva (* anthroposophia: a system established by the Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner that seeks to optimize physical and mental health and well-being). Apologies for the delay in writing this update. Firstly, Irene and I went on a 9-day cruise on the 3 important rivers of Europe on the Rhine, Main and Danube. The trip began in Amsterdam including a tour of the city and boarding the river boat "Amadeus Princess" that was bound for Budapest. Our group of 18 Israelis was led by a tourist guide who took the group to all the towns to visit until we left the boat at Nuremberg in Germany. Visiting the towns on the way also included learning of the Jewish communities who once lived there until their deportation with the rise of Nazism and WW2. Jewish graveyards are the responsibility of the municipal council of each town/city. All the cuisine was onboard and we enjoyed the various attractions during the evenings including the 42 lock-gates the boat had to cope with during the voyage. Finally, we arrived at Munich by bus and boarded the El-Al flight back to Tel Aviv. It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of veteran Matzuva member, Eli on 25th July at Matzuva after a long illness.

  • The PUA English Report 2011-2012
Editor: Nurit Felter-Eitan, Authority Secretary & Spokeswoman All information provided in this report is provided for information purposes only and does not constitute a legal act. The hebrew translation is the current and accurate information. Information in this report is subject to change without prior notice. Greetings, I am delighted to hereby present the Israel Public Utility Authority’s (Electricity) biennial activity report for the years 2012-2011. This report summarizes the Authority’s Assembly’s extensive and meticulous work, assisted by the Authority’s team of professional employees, over the past two years, signifying a turning point in the Israeli electricity and energy markets. Alongside a severe energy crisis that befell the electricity market in the past two years due to the discontinuation of natural gas supply from Egypt and the creation of a gas supply monopoly, these years have seen a historic change in the electricity market, commencing with the admission of private electricity entrepreneurship and clean electricity production in significant capacities (the Authority’s projection for private electricity production is 25% by 2016, and approximately 10% for electricity production using renewable energy by 2020). As a result of the natural gas crisis, which began in 2011 due to recurring explosions in the gas lines leading from Egypt to Israel, the Electricity Authority was faced with a reality that would have forced it to instantly and radically increase in the electricity tariffs for the Israeli consumers in 2012. These circumstances led the Authority to combine forces with government bodies, including the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources and the Ministry of Environmental Protection, and lead a comprehensive move which significantly restrained the tariff increase, and furthermore, relieved the electricity consumers’ burden in a manner that enabled spreading the tariff increase over three years.

  • Hezbollah's Use of Lebanese Civilians As Human Shields: the Extensive Military Infrastructure Positioned and Hidden in Populated Areas
Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center at the Center for Special Studies (C.S.S) December 5, 2006 To the reader: We have recently completed a comprehensive study entitled “The use of Lebanese civilians as human shields: the extensive military infrastructure positioned and hidden by Hezbollah in populated areas. From within the Lebanese towns and villages deliberate rocket attacks were directed against civilian targets in Israel.” The study was based on a wide range of materials which have not previously been used. The issue of the terrorist organizations’ use of human shields is important for understanding the dilemma faced by the State of Israel and international community as they confront terrorism, not only in Lebanon but in the Palestinian Authority- administered territories and in other arenas around the world. We are sending you the main points for perusal, and the entire study will shortly be available (in sections) on the Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center Website. CHAPTER III HIZBULLAH AND ISRAEL CONFLICT DYNAMICS IN 2006 This third chapter will present the history of South Lebanon, the History of Hizbullah Conflict with Israel, the Chronology of the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel in 2006 and the last is the loss and damage expressed by the conflict. A. History of Southern Lebanon Figure 3.1 The South Lebanon Overview Map South Lebanon in Arabic is Jnoub which means "South". South Lebanon is a Lebanese region in the south which consists of 2 administrative regions namely the South Governorate and El Nabatiye Governorate (unhcr, 2014). South Governorate has a population of around three quarters of a million spread in major cities, namely Saida, Jezzine, and Tire with an area of 929.6 km2, with its capital, Saida or Sidon. Most of the residents of South Governat are Muslim Shiites, this area is also known in the agricultural sector, especially in the commodity fruits, namely 37 38 oranges and bananas. There are four major cities in this area, namely El Nabatieh, Habaya, Marjaayoun, and Bent Jbeil with the capital city of El Nabatiye Governate is Nabatieh. 1. Free Lebanon State and South Lebanon Security Belt South Lebanon has traditionally been treated as one of the clear peripheral areas of the Lebanese state, which has limited interest in the elite in the capital. The regions, which now form the southern part of Lebanon - the coastal areas of Tire and Saida, along with the interior of the Jabal 'Amil mountain range, were added to parts of the country called Greater Lebanon only with the formation of the French mandate in 1920.
