Oodnadatta School 120 year celebrations Dear Editor, I recently attended the Oodnadatta School 120 year celebration

At the Open Day we were shown around by confident, well spoken students and as a teacher I was really impressed with the colourful, stimulating atmosphere created throughout the school, from the pre-school to the senior classes.

The display boards were covered with well presented and displayed work - some even in Spanish. Ole! Fr. Paul Bourke, Pat Luscombe Ms Lyn Breuer MP, Jackie Williams and Wally Luscombe at the Oodnadatta 120 year That night we attended the dinner dance in the celebration new sports hall which was superbly decorated in black, red and white.

The students and their friends looked beautiful in formal dress for the occasion. Their appearance and behaviour were a credit to themselves, their families and their school.

The school celebrations were followed next day by the superbly run annual race meeting and gymkhana.

Truly a weekend to remember in Oodnadatta.

The biggest compliment a person or dog can have is to be honoured by their piers. As a dog reporter it has happened to me more then once. For the last 2 years I have been invited to attend the Million Paws walk in Port Augusta. Last year I had a family commitment and was unable to go. When I received my invitation this year I wasn’t missing out again. With my body double to do all the hard work off we went to Port Augusta.

It was an amazing turnout of dogs and their people. I met a beautiful Samoyed called Ben and a dog as big as a horse called Wendell as well as a little boy with the same name Supporters of the Million Paws Walk in Port Molly and Monty can’t wait to get started as me. Augusta

Roger the Roving Vet suggested that my body Exercise is good for everyone in the family double may need worming!

Charlie and Coober Pedy Red Dog at Port Augusta Million Paws Walk

Coober Pedy Red Dog spent his time interviewing all the dogs. He met Midge who was the oldest dog to do the Ben the Samoyed had a moment to relax before Minnie with her mum walk. At 15 years old she said she liked to keep her owner the prizes were given fit and well and walking is a good way to do it. She said she liked theses type of social events; it gives her the time to catch up with the new puppies it town. She was full of advice about dog training and she had a few things to say about cats and canned dog food.

It didn’t matter about your size or breed every one was there for the right reason and that was the raise money for the RSPCA. Port Augusta raised $1513.00. Lets see if we can double that next year.

Congratulations to the first ever Coober Pedy Million Paws walk, such a great effort and an amazing amount of money raised for your first year.
