Part 1 - Acalyptratae. – Acta Mus. Siles. Sci. Natur. 69: 1-19, 2020. Abstract: Records of 18 species of the families Micropezidae (1 species), Lonchaeidae (1 species), Lauxaniidae (1 species), Chamaemyiidae (6 species), Agromyzidae (6 species) and Chloropidae (3 species) from glacial sand deposits in the Czech Silesia (NE Czech Republic) are presented and their association with sandy habitats is discussed. All of them are recorded from the Czech Silesia for the first time, 4 are new additions to the fauna of Moravia and 9 for the whole Czech Republic. None of the recorded species is psammobiont but five of them are classified as psammophilous, viz. Micro- peza lateralis Meigen, 1826 (Micropezidae), Calliopum geniculatum (Fabricius, 1805) (Lauxaniidae), Cerodontha (Xenophytomyza) leptophallus L. Papp, 2016, Ophiomyia disordens Pakalniškis, 1998 (both Agromyzidae), Aphanotrigonum parahastatum Dely-Draskovits, 1981 (Chloropidae), and Leucopis celsa Tanasijtshuk, 1979 as probably psammophilous. A new easternmost record of M. late- ralis (from S. Poland: Godów) is presented and the association of this species and C. geniculatum with growths of Cytisus scoparius is confirmed. Leucopis monticola Tanasijtshuk, 1961, L. celsa and A. parahastatum are recorded from northernmost known localities. These species, and also C. -

Taxonomical and ecological data of 304 acalypterate dipterous species (Diptera, Acalyptrata) Abstract: This paper presents taxonomical and ecological data of 304 acalypterate species of Diptera. The work has been divided into two closely related parts. In the first part (TAXONOMY) the ecological results obtained by families (31) and species (304) are exposed. Lowest and highest altitude of capture of each species are given. In the second part (ECOLOGY) the habitats (36) with the taxonomical results obtained in each case are shown. In both cases, a commentary of the most important results is made. Finally, a study of both parts (TAXONOMY and ECOLOGY) is made, for each one, to have a global view of the results. -

Frugivorous Flies (Diptera: Tephritidae
Frugivorous flies (Diptera: Tephritidae, Lonchaeidae) associated with fruit production on Ilha de Santana, Brazilian Amazon Rafael do Rosário Almeida1, Kennedy Rodrigues Cruz2, Maria do Socorro Miranda de Sousa3, Salustiano Vilar da Costa-Neto4, Cristiane Ramos de Jesus-Barros5, Adilson Lopes Lima5, and Ricardo Adaime1,3,5,* Abstract We conducted a survey of the species of frugivorous flies (Tephritidae and Lonchaeidae), their hosts, and their parasitoids found on Ilha de Santana, Amapá State, Brazilian Amazon. We also assessed host plant use by Bactrocera carambolae Drew & Hancock. Fruits were collected from various plant species, at 30 d intervals, from Jan to Jul 2015. In total, 149 fruit samples were collected (3,142 fruits, 76.3 kg), belonging to 20 plant species (9 native and 11 introduced) in 13 botanical families. Infestation by fruit flies was observed in 86 samples (11 species in 8 botanical families). Specimens of 5 species of Tephritidae and 4 species of Lonchaeidae fruit flies were obtained, as well as 3 species of braconid parasitoids. The most important fruit fly species on Ilha de Santana are:B. carambolae, for being a species of quarantine importance; andAnastrepha obliqua (Macquart) and Anastrepha striata Schiner, for infesting plant species of local socioeconomic importance. Averrhoa carambola (Oxalidaceae), Eugenia uniflora (Myrtaceae), Malpighia emarginata (Moc. & Sesse) ex DC. (Malpighiaceae), and Psidium guajava (Myrtaceae) are the host plants responsible for sustaining the population of B. carambolae. Spatial and Temporal Variability of Necrophagous Diptera from Urban to Rural Areas

Abstract. The spatio-temporal variability of necrophagous fly assemblages in a linear series of habitats from central London to the rural surroundings in the south-west was studied using bottle traps between June 2001 and September 2002. A total of 3314 individuals in 20 dipteran families were identified from 127 sampling occasions. Calliphoridae accounted for 78.6% of all the dipteran speci- mens, with Calliphora vicina Robineau-Desvoidy, being the most abundant spe- cies (2603 individuals, 46.9%). Using canonical correspondence analyses (CCA) on 72 fly taxa, six sampled sites and 36 environmental variables, three habitat types corresponding to three groups of flies were identified. These were an urban habitat characterized by C. vicina, Lucilia illustris (Meigen) and L. sericata (Meigen), a rural grassland habitat, characterized by L. caesar (Linnaeus) and a rural woodland habitat characterized by Calliphora vomitoria (Linnaeus), Phaonia subventa (Harris), Neuroctena anilis (Falle´n) and Tephrochlamys flavipes (Zetterstedt). Intermediate species (L. ampullacea Villeneuve and P. pallida (Fabricius), located between the three habitats, were also found. Temporal abun- dance of the 10 most abundant species showed fluctuations between seasons, having low numbers of captured individuals during winter. Correspondence analysis showed clearly seasonal patterns at Box Hill site. The species–habitat associations suggest habitat differentiation between necrophagous guilds in this area and may be of ecological value. -

Slez. Muz. Opava (A), 60: 223-233. Abstract: A pyramidal trap with combined bait is described and illustrated. The trap inserted above sapping stump of European walnut (Juglans regia) in a site in Central Bohemia near Uhlířské Janovice in 2010 yielded a rich spectrum of flies (Diptera). Records of 24 species most interesting from the faunistic, biological and nature conservancy point of view are given with comments upon their distribution and biology but a number of other captured species are also mentioned. Besides species developing in or attracted as adults to sap runs [e.g. Syrphidae: Ceriana conopsoides (Linnaeus, 1758), Aulacigastridae: three Aulacigaster spp., various Drosophilidae], other important components were formed by saproxylic [Xylomyidae: Solva marginata (Meigen, 1820), some Stratiomyidae, many Lonchaeidae, Milichiidae: Milichia ludens (Wahlberg, 1847), some Muscidae], mycophagous (some Asteiidae, Sphaeroceridae, Drosophilidae), necrophagous (some Sepsidae, Acartophtalmidae, Milichiidae, Sphaeroceridae) and saprophagous (some Sepsidae, Carnidae, Milichiidae, Sphaeroceridae) species, both latter attracted to meat-bait used in the trap. Aulacigaster falcata Papp, 1998 is the first record from Bohemia. www.nature.com/scientificreports OPEN A LAMP assay for the detection of Bactrocera tryoni Queensland fruit fy (Diptera: Tephritidae) Mark J. Blacket1 ✉ , Arati Agarwal1, Linda Zheng1, J. Paul Cunningham1,2, David Britton3, Isarena Schneider3 & Brendan C. Rodoni1,2 LAMP assays are targeted molecular tests for the rapid detection of species in the laboratory and feld. We developed a LAMP assay for an economically important fruit fy species, Queensland fruit fy, Bactrocera tryoni. This assay was assessed against a broad panel of target and non-target species and found to be specifc, only amplifying the target species and closest relatives, in a portable real-time fuorometer (Genie III) in under 15 minutes with an anneal derivative temperature of 82.5 oC. The assay is sensitive to low levels of target DNA (>0.016 ng/µl), performing equally to the existing qPCR test. To enable retention of a physical voucher specimen, for potential morphological confrmation of LAMP results, a novel whole-specimen non-destructive DNA extraction method was developed, suitable for LAMP in the feld. The stability of DNA extraction and LAMP reagents was tested under simulated and actual feld conditions and shown to be robust. Our new assay now provides a portable molecular tool for the detection of this signifcant tephritid fruit fy pest species of biosecurity/quarantine concern. This has already proven invaluable for in-feld diagnostics, providing real-time support infuencing immediate actions, with negative results allowing the release of fruit produce, and positive results initiating fruit fy control measures. Fruit fies belong to the large family Tephritidae, with more than 4000 described species worldwide1,2, with fewer than 10% of these species considered to be economic horticultural pests, while the majority, greater than 90% of species, are considered non-pests2.
