This doesn’t come as a surprise, as the healthful qualities Tof water have been known since antiquity, while it is just the extent of practical application of that knowledge that has been expanding since the 19th century. Not many people know that the fashionable term spa is an acronym of the Latin expression sanus per aquam – healthy through water. This is why new health clinics and hotels, where water is used for health purposes, are called spa centres. For health and beauty, one can also opt for wellness treatments, which improve the mental state, as well as relax and unwind. They usually include a session in a sauna or a bath, which lets you feel extremely fresh and invigorated. In Małopolska, where hydrotherapy has been present for a long time, a number of towns are renowned health resorts, e.g. Krynica-Zdrój, Szcza- wnica, Piwniczna-Zdrój, Muszyna, Rabka-Zdrój. Today, next to the old san- atoria, new luxurious spa hotels are constructed, where European stand- ards go hand in hand with exquisite offers. This is confirmed by certificates and awards, as well as customers appreciating the atmosphere and pro- fessionalism in these facilities. Health through water means not just spa & wellness centres, but also swimming pools and bathing resorts. Most thermal waters have therapeutic properties. Poland can boast a wealth of thermal springs, with a larger number of them only in Słovakia and Hungary. During the colder months of the year, bathing in warm water becomes a mag- ical experience, and lets you get close to the so sought-after state of wellness (harmony of body and mind). Muszyny, w krynickiej strefie tektoniczno-facjalnej jednostki magurskiej, znajduje się unikatowa mofeta CO2. Jest ona położona w potoku Złockim powyżej wsi. Mofeta w większości jest przykryta wodami potoku i wodą mineralną typu szczawa wypływającą z zatopionych źródeł, z obfitym rdzawym osadem ochry. Na dziale wodnym w kierunku wsi Jastrzębik znajduje sie wiele innych mofet, a wszystkie są usytuowane wzdłuż równoleżnikowego nasunięcia w osiowej części antykliny Szczawnika­ 3 Zło ckiego-Jastrzęb ika. Mofeta w Złockiem wydziela ok. 15 tys m CO2/d. Dwutlenek węgla pochodzi z głębokiego podłoża subdukowanego pod orogen Karpat. W 1998 r. mofeta w Złockiem została objęta ochronąjako pomnikprzyrody nieożywionej im. Pro! H Świdzińskiego.     1991 NEXT Muszyna Almanac for Little Homeland 1991-2015 Introduction Over twenty-five years during which the Muszyna Almanac has been appearing, we have assembled between its covers a wealth of knowledge on the history and culture as well as the present day of Muszyna, Krynica, Żegiestów and a number of localities bordering the historic “State of Muszyna”, the southern Nowy Sącz district and the northern Spiš region. The knowledge we have gathered is now available to all interested parties online. Our yearbook’s traditional and electronic versions have numerous readers both in Poland and abroad. We live in times of dynamically developing contacts amongst representatives of different European communities. Moreover, we are dealing with a great wave of migration to and from Poland. Our compatriots living abroad have neighbours to whom they must convey knowledge about the land of their forefathers in the language of the country of residence. Therefore, if we want to present our achievements to the world and have other communities recognise them, we must also speak about our local history and culture in foreign languages. Prof. Dr. Architect Wojciech Karol Wójcikowski Cracow University of Technology, Faculty of Architecture, Poland ABSTRACT The aim of the article is to present activities in Muszyna Zdrój, located in the region of southern Poland spa resorts. In Poland there are 45 spa resorts (mostly small towns and villages) half of them were developed in the southern part of Poland and many of them are interesting examples of the transformations of the urban public space in the spa resorts. Almost all those settlements are locate in the outstanding natural environment including landscapes, climate and above all in the water, confirm a number of studies and a long tradition of conducting treatment advances in medicinal uses of many diseases. After a period of stagnation caused by ownership transformations in health resorts associated with the privatization and the reprivatisation of property nationalized after the Second World War. As well as long-term negligence in the period of system change in Poland after 1989. The activities carried out during last 10 years in Muszyna Zdrój like in the other health resorts located in the south of Poland focused to improve the quality of public spaces in these towns. Muszyna Zdrój is one of the most effective in attracting financial resources from European funds for all designed activities example. Muszyna Zdrój is a small historical town with developed in the beginning of XX century spa resort.

After presentation of the project scope and the partners, the municipalities which serves and links planned narrow-gauge railway have been characterized. Reflection of an idea for the railway in the existing strategic and planning documents has been identified. Functions of the railway and its situational and altitude alignment of its route are specified. The vehicles of the railway and the rules and examples for creating of schedules are generally characterized. The rules for construction of prognostic passenger flows by rail are de- scribed and selected results are quoted. The conclusions from the analysis of the environmental impact of the railway and the result of financial and economic analysis are presented. List of the expected main effects of the project and its potential impact on the development of transport technology is given. An idea of enlargement the territorial scope of the narrow-gauge railway project with proposal for its internationalization is presented. This includes extension of the route from the Szczawnica spa to the Krościenko spa and the branch route from the Obidza pass to the Stara Lubovna town in Slovakia.

    Biuletyn Informacyjny - październik 2005 BIULETYN INFORMACYJNY NR 3 MIASTA I GMINY UZDROWISKOWEJ MUSZYNA Szanowni Mieszkańcy, Mimo znakomitej pogody utrzymującej się w ostatnim okresie, zima zbliża się bardzo szybkimi krokami. A z nią liczne problemy. Prezentujemy, więc w bieżącym numerze biuletynu odpowiedzialnych i sposób odśnieżania dróg i ulic na terenie miasta i gminy. Fakt istnienia trzech różnych administratorów dróg (wojewódzkich, powiatowych i gminnych) powoduje, iż każdy z nich prowadzi własne postępowanie przetargowe i wyłania własnych wykonawców, co czasem powoduje denerwujący wszystkich brak koordynacji. Niestety Gmina nie ma wpływu na obowiązujące w kraju przepisy. Mam nadzieję, iż wprowadzony przez Gminę nowy sposób potwierdzania wykonania prac poprawi stan utrzymania dróg gminnych ku zadowoleniu nas wszystkich. Równocześnie pragnę przypomnieć, iż obowiązujące przepisy nakładają na właścicieli nieruchomości obowiązek odśnieżania i utrzymania w należytym stanie (tak w okresie letnim jak i zimowym) nawierzchni chodników przebiegających obok posesji. Fakt ten niejednokrotnie lekceważony powoduje poważne utrudnienia dla pieszych. W najgorszym razie (wypadek) może stać się dla właściciela źródłem kłopotów nie tylko prawnych. W miesiącu październiku podjęliśmy duży wysiłek w zakresie poprawy stanu dróg i ciągów spacerowych w mieście i gminie. Liczę na to, iż zakończone oraz prowadzone prace, choć w części, ułatwią mieszkańcom i odwiedzającym naszą Gminę poruszanie się, a także wpłyną na jej estetykę. Having come to the throne of Hungary in 1458, he soon also seized Moravia, Silesia and Vienna. His wars for the throne in Prague, waged first against George of Poděbrady (1468-1471) and then against Casimir the Jagiellonian (1471-1474), led to devastating raids of Hungarian troops on, among others, opavian Silesia and Lesser Po- land. in retaliation, in the end of 1474 Jagiellonian troops invaded Silesia and for a short period of time besieged Wrocław. Furthermore, in Spring 1488 a conflict over the Duchy of Głogów broke out, which ended in a long siege of this town. An important role in the modern army of Matthias Corvinus was played by firearms. these are often mentioned by writ- ten sources from this period and numerous material traces of their use are revealed by archaeological examinations at sites which were affected by invasions.     Uzdrowisko Muszyna Położenie administracyjne Gmina Muszyna jest położona w województwie małopolskim, w powiecie nowosądeckim. W skład gminy wchodzi miasto Muszyna oraz dziesięć wsi: Andrzejówka, Dubne, Jastrzębik, Leluchów, Milik, Powroźnik, Szczawnik, Wojkowa, Żegiestów oraz Złockie1. Muszyna jest gminą miejsko-wiejską.
