Is it really parsimonious to spend less for a knife that cuts badly and that you later have to throw away? Rules and Options The author has attempted to draw as much as possible from the guidelines provided in the 5th edition Players Handbooks and Dungeon Master's Guide. Statistics for weapons listed in the Dungeon Master's Guide were used to develop the damage scales used in this book. Interestingly, these scales correspond fairly well with the values listed in the d20 Modern books. Game masters should feel free to modify any of the statistics or optional rules in this book as necessary. It is important to remember that Dungeons and Dragons abstracts combat to a degree, and does so more than many other game systems, in the name of playability. For this reason, the subtle differences that exist between many firearms will often drop below what might be called a "horizon of granularity." In D&D, for example, two pistols that real world shooters could spend hours discussing, debating how a few extra ounces of weight or different barrel lengths might affect accuracy, or how different kinds of ammunition (soft-nosed, armor-piercing, etc.) might affect damage, may be, in game terms, almost identical. This is neither good nor bad; it is just the way Dungeons and Dragons handles such things. Who can use firearms? Firearms are assumed to be martial ranged weapons. Characters from worlds where firearms are common and who can use martial ranged weapons will be proficient in them. Anyone else will have to train to gain proficiency— the specifics are left to individual game masters. Optionally, the game master may also allow characters with individual weapon proficiencies to trade one proficiency for an equivalent one at the time of character creation (e.g., monks can trade shortswords for one specific martial melee weapon like a war scythe, rogues can trade hand crossbows for one kind of firearm like a Glock 17 pistol, etc.). -

INTRODUCTION This matter is before the Court on a First Supplemental and Substituted Petition to Revoke Supervision (“Petition”). (Doc. 98). On July 29, 2021, the Court held an evidentiary hearing on the Petition. (Doc. 104). At the conclusion of the hearing, the Court found by a preponderance of the evidence that defendant violated the terms and conditions of supervised release, as alleged in the Petition, and sentenced defendant to 18 months’ imprisonment, followed by an 8-year term of supervised release. Specifically, the Court found defendant committed the following violations: Violation 1: Failure to Participate in Substance Abuse Testing Violation 2: New Law Violation; Assault on Peace Officer & Carrying Weapons Violation 3: Frequenting Places Where Children Congregate Violation 4: Possession of a Dangerous Weapon Because there is little published caselaw on this issue and some misinformation circulating in the public realm, the Court issues this Memorandum and Order to elaborate and Case 1:10-cr-00030-CJW-MAR Document 105 Filed 07/30/21 Page 1 of 5 memorialize its ruling that defendant’s possession of a machete constitutes a dangerous weapon for purposes of supervised release. II. BACKGROUND Defendant was convicted in October 2010 of failing to register as a sex offender and sentenced to ten years in prison, followed by ten years on supervised release. (Doc. 56). AD410-1100) iron knives revealed several patterns (Blakelock & McDonnell 2007). Clear differences in knife manufacturing techniques were present in rural cemeteries and later urban settlements. The main aim of this research is to investigate these patterns and to gain an overall understanding of the early medieval iron industry. This study has increased the number of knives analysed from a wide spectrum of sites across England, Scotland and Ireland. Knives were selected for analysis based on x-radiographs and contextual details. Sections were removed for more detailed archaeometallurgical analysis. The analysis revealed a clear change through time, with a standardisation in manufacturing techniques in the 7th century, and differences between the quality of urban and rural knives. -
