At the state and national level, the Kochs use their unlimited resources to influence policy to suit their political and personal needs while hurting middle class and working families. The policies they favor include cutting taxes for corporations and the wealthy; reducing and eliminating regulations to protect workers, consumers, and the environment; privatizing and cutting both Social Security and Medicare; and cutting other programs, including Pell Grants for college. For decades, the Kochs and their network of dark money political front groups have been pushing the Koch agenda in New Hampshire — perhaps more than any other state in the country — which has benefitted billionaires like the Kochs at the expense of Granite Staters. In 2016, New Hampshire will continue to be on center stage in American politics with the First In The Nation primary, a top- tier Senate race, marquee Congressional contests, an open governor’s mansion, and a number of hot button issues in the limelight. At the same time, the Koch network has promised to spend nearly $900 million to buy elections for candidates who will do their bidding for them. The Kochs themselves admit they “expect something in return” for the millions they spend propping up their candidates, but for candidates, backing from the Kochs comes with a high price tag. -

Only five Canadian players remain after Training Camp cuts. MEDIA DAY: The Boston Bruins will hold their annual Media Day on Monday, October 1, at Warrior Ice Arena beginning with the team’s 12:00 p.m. practice. Approximately 15 minutes after practice, the team will hold a press conference in the Event Room (concourse level 3) with Owner Jeremy Jacobs, CEO Charlie Jacobs, President Cam Neely, General Manager Don Sweeney and Head Coach Bruce Cassidy. After the press conference, Bruins players will be available to the media inside the locker room. A media luncheon will be held in the Event Room after the player availability. Facility Website UPDATE: Anaheim Arena Management, LLC, the management company for Honda Center, announced in June 2011 a series of new major developments that will break ground this fall. The improvements include a distinctive Grand Terrace, a new full-service restaurant, and an expansion to the current team store. Anaheim Arena Management, LLC, expects that the million dollar upgrades will have a dramatic impact on the overall fan experience and assure Honda Center stands up favorably next to any arena in the country, including those that house multiple sports franchises. Honda Center and Aramark formed a new partnership that will bring upgraded fare to those attending events at the venue. Many of Honda Center's existing concession locations will receive upgrades and an entirely new visual look, including upgraded food quality, signage and uniforms. Buffalo Sabres Daily Press Clips Thursday, January 31, 2013 Sabres-Bruins Preview Associated Press January 30, 2013 Even a foreign object couldn't slow down the Boston Bruins, and it's been almost two years since the Buffalo Sabres have managed to do it at TD Garden. The Bruins go for their longest season-opening home winning streak in over 22 years Thursday night when they try to continue their success against the Sabres. Boston (5-0-1) has been one of the NHL's best teams this season, and a big reason for that success is wins in each of its first four home games. The Bruins last opened a season 5-0-0 at home in 1990-91, when they played at Boston Garden. "We've played some pretty good hockey so far," coach Claude Julien said. "And the games that weren't quite as good as we should have been, we found a way to win. And to be a good team you've got to be able to do that." Their dazzling start this season wasn't derailed by a bizarre incident in Tuesday's 2-1 shootout win over New Jersey. Tyler Seguin scored the opening shootout attempt, but the referees ruled that he had to go again after an object from the crowd was flung into the crease. Seguin converted the do-over before Brad Marchand netted the decisive attempt in the sixth round. "That's a first," Seguin said. "I'm still not sure what it was. Maybe a hot dog." Boston will try to remain perfect on home ice and make it four straight wins there against Buffalo (2-3-1). -

Twice a year our network meets to review strategies for combating the multitude of public policies that threaten to destroy America as we know it. These meetings have been critical in improving and expanding our efforts. Our next meeting will be held January 30-31, 2011, at the Rancho Las Palmas Resort in Rancho Mirage, California. You would be a valuable addition to our gathering, and we hope you can join us. In Palm Springs, we will assemble an exceptional group of leaders.along with a strong line-up of speakers. Together, we will develop strategies to counter the most severe threats facing our free society and outline a vision of how we can foster a renewal of American free enterprise and prosperity. At our most recent meeting in Aspen, our group heard plans to activate citizens against the threat of government over-spending and to change the balance of power in Congress this November. In response, participants committed to an unprecedented level of support. The important work being done with these initiatives continues. However, even if these efforts succeed, other serious threats demand action. -

However, public money is in short supply as the SEA is already financing two stadiums and a convention center at a cost of $700 million in taxpayer funding. This report finds: • The City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County do not have any available funds to build another sports arena. -
