COACHING STAFF

HEAD COACH - JASON CLARE THIRD SEASON

Jason Clare enters his third season as the head women’s soccer coach at . Clare was previously an assistant coach and assisted at Dodge City Community College in Kansas.

Last season was Clare’s first season as a head coach at any level. He led the Mavericks to a 1-13-4 record and lost six matches by just one goal.

Prior to his time in the United States, Jason coached several different youth programs and clubs. He coached the Yeovil Town Football Club, a professional club in England and worked at the Center of Excellence which helped develop players for the professional game. He also worked for the Somerset Football Association Girls Center working with elite players in the country.

Jason earned a UEFA ‘B’ Coaching License, Football Association Level 3 certificate, and a Football Association Level 2 Goalkeeper coaching certificate in England. He has also earned an NSCAA Advanced National and Premier Diploma since coaching in the United States.

ASSISTANT COACH - DANIELLE THURMAN FIRST SEASON

Danielle Thurman was named the assistant women’s soccer coach at Colorado Mesa University in the summer of 2016. Thurman comes to the Mavericks after a successful stint at Otero Junior College in La Junta, CO.

Thurman helped lead Otero to a 13-3-2 season record and a first place finish in Region IX and a second place finish at the Regional Tournament.

Thurman played collegiately at Eastern New Mexico in Portales, N.M. She was a 4-year starter and received Lone Star Conference Second Team Honors in 2012, Honorable Mention in 2009, and Athlete of the Week five times in her career. During her senior season in 2012, Thurman served as team captain and was the team’s leading goal scorer. She is second all-time in career assists and fourth in career goals for ENMU.

She continued her soccer career in Perth, Australia, where she played for University of Western Australia-Ned- lands Football Club, a member the Australian Women’s Premiere League. During her time in Perth, Thurman worked as a motor development coach for Kidz n’ Sports, where she worked with youth athletes to improve early motor development skills.

In 2014, Coach Thurman moved to Queenstown, New Zealand and joined the Queenstown Rovers, a member of the New Zealand Women’s Premier League. While in New Zealand, Thurman worked for the Central Otago Player Development School (PDS) as an assistant for Jamie Whitmarsh, former New York Red Bulls Assistant Coach. The PDS was the first program in New Zealand’s South Island to focus specifically on the development of soccer specific skills in player’s ages 5 to 17 years.

Prior to her time overseas, Thurman has been coaching youth and high school aged players since the age of 16.

Thurman is from from Albuquerque, New Mexico and earned a Bachelor’s Degrees in University Studies emphasizing in Health and Physical Education and Graphic Design.
