After clearing arrival formalities, you will be met by your Tour Manager and escorted to the waiting coach. Transfer to Pescara, where you will attend a public mass at a local church. Then, transfer to the hotel. The balance of the day is at leisure. Dinner at a local restaurant is included this evening. Accommodation: Hotel Victoria Sun Sep 23 – PESCARA / MANOPELLO / PESCARA (B, L) Breakfast. Today, after attending public mass at the church, join your Tour Manager for a half-day excursion to visit the Shrine of the Holy Face in Manopello. Then, we go on to Chieti area, where you’ll have a vineyard tour and wine tasting. Enjoy your included lunch at the vineyard. Dinner is on your own. Accommodation: Hotel Victoria Sep 24 – PESCARA / LANCIANO / PESCARA (B, L) Breakfast. We have a full day excursion to the ancient town of Lanciano, renowned for its famous Eucharistic Miracle; and then to the seaside resort of Ortona to visit the relics of the apostle St. Thomas. Private mass in Ortona. Lunch at a lovely beach restaurant in the area. Stop at Villa Caldari to view the Fountain of Wine and then return to Pescara. Dinner is on your own. Accommodation: Hotel Victoria Tue Sep 25 – PESCARA / SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO (B) Breakfast. Transfer to San Giovanni Rotondo and take a half day guided tour to view the main sights including Santa Maria delle Grazie Basilica and the Church of Padre Pio. Attend evening public mass and walk to hotel. Today lunch and dinner are on your own. Accommodation: Hotel Gran Paradiso Wed Sep 26 – SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO (B, L) Breakfast. Today you’ll have a half-day guided tour of Monte Sant’Angelo to visit San Michele Archangelo Basilica and grotto followed by public mass at the basilica. Lunch at a local beach restaurant in the region. Afterward, take a scenic drive along the coast of Monte Gargano back to San Giovanni Rotondo. Dinner is on your own. Accommodation: Hotel Gran Paradiso Sep 27 – SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO / PIETRELCINA /BARI (B) Breakfast. Early transfer to Pietrelcina, where you will visit the main sites related to St. Padre Pio with your Tour Manager. See the house where Padre Pio was born and the church where he was baptized. A private mass at a local church has been included today. Later, transfer to Bari. Lunch and dinner are on your own. Accommodation: Oriente Hotel Fri Sep 28 – BARI / MATERA / CRACO / BARI (B, D) Breakfast. Enjoy a full day excursion with a local guide that begins with a visit to Matera, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, having been inhabited since the 10th millennium BC. Attend a private mass at a local church. Then head to nearby Craco, Italy’s abandoned medieval ghost town. Craco was once a monastic center, a feudal town and center of education with a university, castle, church, and plazas. Today, thanks to the dramatic landscape and unique atmosphere, Craco has been the set of many movies including Saving Grace, James Bond’s Quantum of Solace and the hanging of Judas scene in Mel Gibson’s the Passion of the Christ. Return to Bari. Lunch is on your own and dinner at a local restaurant is included. Accommodation: Oriente Hotel Sep 29 – BARI / ALBEROBELLO / BARI – OVERNIGHT FERRY TO DUBROVNIK (B) Breakfast. Today, attend a public mass at the basilica followed by a half day guided tour of the main sights of Bari. Then your Tour Manager will take you to Alberobello, which is a strangely picturesque town that has been made a UNESCO World Heritage site for its unusual districts of Trulli, the characteristic whitewashed conical-roofed houses of the area. Return to Bari in the evening and take overnight ferry to Dubrovnik. Lunch and dinner are on your own. Please note: Depending on the total number of people, the singles may have to share a 2-bed berth for the overnight transfer. Accommodation: Ferry (2-berth inside cabin with wash basin – NOTE: guests must use the communal restrooms) Sun Sep 30 – ARRIVE DUBROVNIK (B, L, D) Arrive Dubrovnik pier, disembark and meet your local guide. You will be escorted for transfer to a local café or hotel for your included breakfast. Following breakfast, take a half day guided tour to view the main city sights (with entrances to the cathedral and city walls). Attend a private mass at a local church and enjoy an included lunch at a local restaurant before heading to the hotel for check-in. The balance of the day is at leisure. Dinner is at the hotel this evening. Accommodation: Valamar Argosy Hotel Mon Oct 01 DEPART DUBROVNIK TO MEDJUGORJE (B) After breakfast, we will check out and board our coach to Medjugorje. Domenico Umberto D'Ambrosio el 8 de marzo de 2003, trasladándolo de la sede metropolitana de Foggia-Bovino, y constituyéndolo, al mismo tiempo, delegado de la Santa Sede para el santuario y las Obras de san Pío de Pietrelcina. El Santo Padre envió una carta a mons. D'Ambrosio concerniente a las tareas que deberá desarrollar en calidad de delegado. Publicamos a continuación el texto pontificio. Al venerado hermano DOMENICO UMBERTO D'AMBROSIO Arzobispo de Manfredonia-Vieste- San Giovanni Rotondo Delegado para el santuario y las Obras de san Pío de Pietrelcina 1. El movimiento espiritual suscitado por el carisma de san Pío de Pietrelcina no se ha agotado con su muerte terrena; al contrario, se ha ampliado cada vez más, cobrando gran importancia para la vida de toda la Iglesia. El secreto de tan vasta resonancia reside seguramente en la inmersión total del humilde capuchino en el misterio de la cruz. En toda su existencia, el padre Pío se esforzó por configurarse cada vez más con Cristo crucificado, teniendo clara conciencia de haber sido llamado a colaborar de modo peculiar en la obra de la Redención. Redescubrir el valor de la cruz de Cristo para hacer de ella el centro inspirador de la propia vida: esta fue la característica fundamental de la espiritualidad del santo fraile del Gargano. Supo reconocer a Cristo sufriente no sólo en el coloquio interior de la oración, sino también en el encuentro con las personas probadas por la enfermedad, y se prodigó por confortarlas.
