WH ERE competi tio ns for under 16 and other f ormats are concerned, c lub s, cou nty boards, provincial councils, nati onal education coun cils may adapt the playing rules in relation to team com posit ion, subst itutions, dura tion of match, pitch dime nsions and the size, weig ht and ma terial of the sliota r. Such adaptations must be app roved as compe tit ion rules at a properly consti tuted gen eral meet ing of the relevant unit. In incl ement weat her all players ag ed under 16 may wear match ing tra cksuit bottoms in add it ion to their un iform. Rules gove rning elig ibility Rule 28.4 (age restrictions) of An Treoir Oifigiúil Part I must apply.

Rules for 12- a-side Cam ogie are detailed at the end of this document.

Play ing Rules should be read in conjunction wit h Duties of the , Lines Officials and Umpires, Sections 41, 42 and 43 of An Treoir Oifigiúil.

1. Name of the Game The name of the game is Camog ie.

2. Team Lists 2. 1. Each team shall provide the Re feree with a list in duplicate on Form CC2 (either hand writ ten or electronical ly genera ted) of the full names in Irish and /or English of its players and substi tutes. The li st shall be sig ned by an Official authoris ed by the Club/ Board/C oun cil. The team list shall be given to the Refer ee by the comm encement of the se co nd half of the match. Failure to com ply with this Rule shall result in afinebe ing imposed on the defaulting t eam by the committee in char ge of the compe tit ion.

3. Teams’ Composition 3. 1. A team must be comprised of fifteen players who must be aff iliated and registered me mbe rs of An Cuma nn Camógaíoc hta in acco rdance with the Rules. Eligibil ity to play in acom peti tion will be determin ed by the rules and appr oved bye- laws.

3. 2. The team line -out must be as follows: • Goal keeper •Threeful l-bac ks •Threehal f-backs •Twocentre-f ield players •Threehal f-for wards •Threeful l-forw ards

3. 3. Each team must have at least twelve players to commence a match. Amatchma ycontinuewith less than twelve players asid e, only in the event of a pla yer (s) ordered off or retired injured.

Ateam com mencing with less th an 15 playe rs may add to their team only du ring asto ppage in play and on play ers noti fying, in wr itin g, the . Such pla yers must already be inc luded on the te am list su bmitted to the Referee.

4. Duration of games 4. 1. The time of ac tual play must be sixty minu tes. Ahalf-time int erval of not more than 15 min utes sh ould be allowed. Teams must switch ends on resumption of the game after half-time.

4. 2. Ex tra Time In the event of ex tra time be ing played, its duration w ill be ten mi nut es ea ch half. Teams must sw it ch en ds on resu mption of the game after hal f-time. Ahalf-t ime interval of not more than five min utes should be allowed.

5. Substitution of Players During a Game 5. 1. Subs titution me ans the replacing dur ing a game or at hal f-time of any of the fifteen players of a tea m, other than aplayerdismi ssed fr om the field of play by the Refer ee. Only five sub stitu tions pe r team will be allowed.

A subs tituti on is not allowed in the case of aplayer orde red of f.

A subs tituti on may only be ma de during a sto ppage in play and on notifying, in writing, to the Re feree. A team whi ch makes more than five su bsti tutio ns will the game to its oppon ents.

Excepti on: Amaximum of 8 subst itu tions may be ma de in un der 14, und er 16, under 18 and adult lea gue compet itio ns at all levels. This does not a pply to cha mpionships at all levels regard less of compet ition st ructu re or format.

5. 2. Temporary Sub stitu tion/B lood re placement

Aplayer who is bleeding or who has blood on any part of he r body, playing attire or playing eq uipment, as aresult of an in jury sustained during play, must on the ins truct ion of the Refe ree, imm ediately l eave the field of play to receive me dical an d/or oth er attention. She will not be allo wed to ret urn to the fie ld of play un til the bleeding has been cleaned off an d, where possibl e, the injured ar ea has been covered, any bloo dstained playing att ire has be en replaced and any blood -stained equipme nt has been fully cleaned. In that circums tance, a Tempor ary Rep lace ment may be used, and the fol low ing ac ts will not co unt as subst itutions under Rule 5.1.

a. the use of the te mporary replacem ent for a play er ins truc ted to leave the field of play b. the return to the field of play of the injured (b lood) player as adirectreplac eme nt for the temporary replacem ent

c. the return to the field of play of the inj ured (bloo d) player as areplac em ent for any oth er play er if the temporary replac eme nt has pr eviously been sent off or su bsti tuted.

5. 3. Subst ituti on in Extra Time

For the pur pose of extra time in all formats, wh en pla yed, a further max imum of five subs tituti ons will be permitted.

6. Playing gear a. Te ams are requ ired to wear dis tinctive colo urs. In all ins tanc es all me mbe rs of the same team must be uni for mly dressed.

b. Play ing gear must be of Irish manuf acture if pos sibl e. It must consist of: • ski rt/skor t/divided skir t, spor ts with long or short sleeves, knee socks and boo ts. A base layer (‘skins’) may also be worn.

Goalkeepers may wear the team tracksuit in all com peti tions ot her than na tion al fi nals.

c. The crest of An Cuma nn Camóga íoc hta must be display ed on the team jer sey and ski rt/skor t/divided skir t.

Penalty: If not complied with in Camogie games, the Referee will firstly caution the player/players for dissent. If the player/players continue to refuse to comply with Rule 6 as outlined above she/they will be dealt with in accordance with Rule 41.9 (b) for dissent.

7. Equipment 7. 1. (Hurl/Camán) a. A player may play with a hurley which is bound with a metallic substance, with adhesive tape (“covered hurley”). In all Camogie games and training sessions, the use of a “covered hurley” shall be the player’s sole responsibility except where it is deemed dangerous by the Referee.

b. In all Camogie games, a player must play with a hurley the bas of which cannot exceed 13 cm in width except for the when on goalkeeping duties. A goalkeeper engaging in outfield roles such as free taking outside the large parallelogram; taking a sideline, 45 or a penalty is defined as set play and the 13 cm restriction applies to the hurley she must use in these or similar outfield set plays.

Penalty: If not complied with in Camogie games the Referee will firstly caution the player for dissent. If the player continues to breach 7.1a or 7.1b she will be dealt with in accordance with Rule 41.9(b) for dissent.

7. 2. Helmet /Facial guard In all Camogie games and training sessions it shall be mandatory for and the responsibility of each individual player to use and wear an approved, i.e. NSAI Standard IS355, helmet with facial guard. Such helmets shall not be modified from their original manufactured state in any circumstances.

Penalty: If not complied with in Camogie games the Referee will firstly caution the player for dissent. If the player continues to refuse to wear an approved helmet she will be dealt with in accordance with Rule 41.9 (b) for dissent.

7. 4. Protective gear Protective gear such as shinguards, gumshields and hand protection may be used by a player while playing or training. In all Camogie games, such additional protective gear shall be the player’s sole responsibility except where it is deemed dangerous to others by the Referee.

Penalty: If not complied with in Camogie games the Referee will firstly caution the player for dissent. If the player continues to wear protective gear deemed dangerous by the Referee she will be dealt with in accordance with Rule 41.9(b) for dissent.

7.5. In all Camogie games and training sessions, it shall be mandatory for, and the responsibility of each individual player, not to wear jewellery of any kind while playing and/or training.

Penalty: If not complied with in Camogie games the Referee will firstly caution the player for dissent. If the player continues to be in breach of Rule 7.5 she will be dealt with in accordance with Rule 41.9 (b) for dissent.

8. The Pitch 8.1 a. The pit ch must be recta ngular, from 13 0 met res to 145 me tres long and from 80 metres to 90 metres wide. The bou ndari es must be marked by a dis tinct ive line and the four corners in dicated by flags.

b. Lines in dicating 13 metres, 20 metr es and 45 met res from each end line, and the half-way line, must be marke d. The points from where the se lines join each sid e-line must be indicat ed by fl ags.

c. Equ idis tant f rom each corner on the end-line s must stand two up right g oalpos ts, 6.5 metres ap art and a minimum of 7 met res high. The re mu st be a cross bar 2.5 metres from the gro und joining the goalposts to form a goal space.

d. 3.75 metr es outside each goalpost aline 4.5 metr es long must be marked at right angles to the goal-l ine. The ends of these lines must be joined to form the small pa rallelogra m, 14 met res by 4.5 metres in front of the scoring space.

e. 6.25 metres outside each goalpost aline13 metr es lo ng mu st be marked at right angles to the goal- line, the ends of these lines being joined by the 13 metres line to form the large parall elogra m, 19 metres by 13 metres, in front of the scoring sp ace.

f. A semi -circle of radius 13 met res, the cent re of which is on the m id-point of the 20 metre line, must be marked.

8. 1. Goal-Nets

Goal-nets must be used and secure ly fixed to the cross bar and goalpost s.

8.2 It is acceptable to play Camogie matches on synthetic pitches, if both teams are agreeable.

9. Rules of Play (normal and extra time)

9. 1. At the s tart of each mat ch the R efe ree must toss a co in, in t he presence of both Captains, for choice of end s. The playe rs must then take their resp ective places. At the start of each half the Refe re e must cou nt the of pla yers on the field.

9. 2. The Referee, facing the players, will commence play in each half by blowing the whistle and throwing the sliotar along the ground

on the hal fway line bet ween the four centre-fie ld pla yers who must sta nd one behind the oth er on their own defens ive s ides of the half- way l ine. All other players must rem ain in the ir respective positi ons at least 10 metres from the Refe ree un til an attempt to st rike the sliotar has been mad e.

9. 3. The Refe ree will recommence play after any stop page (other than 9.4 below) by throwing the s liotar on the ground be tween two players while facing the nearer side-lin e. Where the throw in is too near that side-line or in the event of a clashed side-line sliotar , the Referee faces the field of pl ay. No oth er pla ye r ma yapproach wit hin 10 me tres until an attempt to st rike the sliotar has been mad e.

9. 4. When play is s top ped d ue to an injury a way f rom play to an opposi ng player the team in possess ion of the sliotar retains pos sessi on wh en pl ay re co mmences by being granted an ind irect free.

9. 5. The slio tar is in play once it has be en thrown in by the Referee, or struck by aplay er after the Re feree has si gnall ed to res tart play. The sliotar is out of play when: a. When a occurs b. The Referee si gnals a stop c. The sliotar has passed compl etely ove rthesid e/end -line d. The sliotar has been prevented from going over sid e/end- line, when touc hed in play by a non-player or flag e. The sliotar touches any non-player on the field of play. Play is restarted by throwing in the sliotar at the place concerned or on the 20 metre line if inside the 20 metre line. f. If the sliotar touches any non-player on the field of play from a free puck; the free must be re-taken from where the free was originally awarded.

9. 6. A player may:

a. Strike the sl iotar with the hurley on the grou nd or in the air

b. Lift th e sl iotar off the gro und with the hu rley or w ith the feet

or with a comb ination of hurley and foot

c. Catch the sl iotar with one ha nd

d. Catch the sliotar twice

e. Ha nd-pass the sl iotar with one ha nd

f. Drop the hurley

g. Carry the sliotar in the hand for amax imum of four co nsecutive ste ps or hold the sliotar in the hand for no longer than the time needed to take fo ur steps

h. Kick the sl iotar

i. Hand-pass the sliotar to score.

9. 7. A player may tackle an oppo nent who is in the act of pla ying or in pos sessi on of the sl iotar by:

a. Blocking an aerial or gro und pu ck

b. Play the oppon ent’s hur ley with mini mal for ce (fl ick) from the grou nd or in the air with own hurley

c. Ho oking an oppon ent’s hu rley with own hurley

d. Pla ying with mini mal for ce (ta p) the under side of the bas of an oppon ent’s hur ley while she is carrying the sliotar on it

e. Sh adow ing the pla yer without deli berating interfering with the hurley or body of an oppo nent.

9. 8. Ending Play The Refe ree, hav ing allowed time for stopp ages, must termin ate play by blowing the whistle and indicating by ha nd si gnal at the end of the off icial time in each half.

10. Foul Play 10.1. Te chnical Fouls

A player may not: a. Pi ck up the sliotar from the ground with the ha nd b. the sl iotar on the gro und with the hand ,excep t wh en the play er wit h the sliotar in her hand falls to the ground and the sl iotar to uches the ground c. Throw the sliotar aw ay from he r d. Throw the sliotar up and catch it e. Pass the sliotar from one ha nd to the oth er f. Hop the sliotar on the ha nd g. Catch the sl iotar with two ha nds h. Over- carry or over-hold the sliotar i. Ta ke the sliotar out of play by covering or lying on it j. Catch the sl iotar more than twice k. Be pre vented from pla ying the sliotar by b eing sandw iched by two or more oppo nen ts l. Chop, i.e. stri ke downwards on an op ponent’s hurley m. Hold oppon ent’s hu rley or pull it from her ha nds n. Tap an opponent’s hu rley other than as pe rmitted in 9. 7(d) o. Push an opponent p. Deliberately interfe re with the hur ley or body of an oppo nent q. Retaliate, between the awarding of a free to her team and the free puck being taken.

Pe nalty: A free to the opp osing te am from where the foul occurr ed. If foul oc curs inside the 20m line the free will be given on the 20m line closest to where the foul occur red ; except for breaches of 10.1(q) when the

following penalty applies: the free puck is cancelled and the Referee throws in the sliotar where the original foul occurred but not within the 20 metre line.

10.2. Rough Play and Dis sen t

A player must not: a. Deliberat ely sho ulder an opponent b. Tr ip, catch, hold or pu ll down an oppon ent c. Charge (pu shing or m ov ing into an oppon ent’s body or failing to avoid full frontal c ontact with an opponent), back into or obstruct an op ponent d. Reach from behind with the hu rley or around the body of an oppo nent which is not co nsistent with an at tempt to play the sliotar e. Throw the hu rley f. En gage in any fo rm of rough play g. Challenge the authority of a referee/match official h. Attempt to str ike an oppo nent with or without hurley i. Attempt to ki ck an oppo nent j. Pl ay wit hout a helmet k. Use a hu rley of incor rect size l. Use the hurley to obst ruct an opp onent.

Penalty: For afirst offence, a pla yer has her name and jersey number taken by the Referee and is given a warning from the Referee indica ted by a yellow car d. For a second offen ce, a pla yer has her name and jersey number taken by the Referee ,asecond yellow card is issued and is fol lowed by ared card and the pl ayer dis miss ed from the field of pl ay (see Rule 41.9 /41.10 An Treoir Oifig iúi l Part I ). A free is gi ven to the opp osing team wh ere the

fo ul occur red. If the foul oc curs inside the 20m line the free is gi ven on the 20m line closest to where the foul oc curred.

10.3. Aggressive Fouls, D angerous Play and Abusive Language

A player must not: a. Strike an opponent with the hurley b. Strike an opponent with the arm, elbow, hand ,knee or he ad c. Pu nch an op ponent d. Kick an oppo nent e. Sto mp on an op ponent f. Spit at an opponent or off icial g. Contr ibu te to a melee h. As sault any off icial i. Inter fere with the faceguard of an oppon en t’s helmet j. Use abusi ve or threateni ng language or gestures to a Referee, match off icia ls , pl ayers or me ntors k. Use the hu rley to ‘dig’ an op ponent l. Interfe re wi th an oppo nen t’s helmet.

Pe nalty: A pla ye rhashe rname and jers ey number ta ken by the Referee and is sued with aredca rd and dismi ssed from the field of pl ay (see Rule 41.9, 41.10 and 44). A free is given to the opposing team where the foul occur red .If foul occurs inside the 20m line the free is given on the 20 mlineclosest to whe re the foul oc curred.

11. Advantage Rule and Frees

11.1. Pl aying ad vanta ge In the event of a foul by a player(s) on an op ponent who is in pos sessi on of/ in the act of playing the sliotar, the Ref eree ma y al low play to conti nue if s/he co nsiders such to be an immediate adva nt age to the off end ed team. S/he must signal that advantage by raising an arm upright and must allow the advantage to run by maintaining her/his arm in the upright position for up to five seconds after the foul or for less time if it becomes clear that no advantage has accrued. If s/he deems no advantage to have accrued, s/he may subsequently award a free for the foul from where it occurred, or a subsequent foul if more advantageous to the offended team. The Referee must, during the next stoppage in play, apply to the offending player(s) the appropriate sanction in accordance with Rule, where s/he deems such is warranted.

11.2. Free Ta king In the event of a foul by a player(s ), a free must be aw arded to the opposi ng team from where the foul occur red. Afree must also be awarded in other insta nces as specified in the se Rule s. The Re feree must ind icate the spot from where the free must be taken. A free must n ot be taken until the Referee has blown the whistle.

11.3. For all frees, inclu ding a side-l ine puck, once the sliotar has been plac ed by the pla yer at the spot indicat ed by the Referee or l ine umpire, and the whistle bl own, the sliotar may n ot be reset exc ept wit htheexpress permiss ion of the Refe ree.

Penalty: A throw in by the Referee where the foul oc curred.

11.4. For all frees, othe rthan aside- line sliotar ,thesliotarma ybe struck on the ground or be lifted and struck wit hthehurleyin one continuous movement. Lif ting the sliotar and then balanc ing it on the hur ley before striking is de emed to be a foul. The sliotar ma y not be taken in the ha nd or hopp ed on the hurley when lift ed for

afree. For a sid e-line puck, the sliotar may be st ruck on the ground only. It may not be lifted.

Pe nalty: A throw in by the Ref eree where the foul occur red .

11.5. Sh ould the free -taker fail to lift an d/or strike the sl iotar at the first attempt she may strike it on the grou nd but may not lift it again.

Pe nalty: Athrow in by the Ref eree where the foul occur red .

11.6. The free-taker may not play the sl iotar a se co nd time until anot her player has to uched it, exc ept where the sliotar rebo und soffa crossb ar or uprig ht.

Pe nalty: A throw in by the Ref eree where the foul occur red .

11.7. No player may appro ach within 10 metres of the free- ta ker until an att empt to st rike the sliotar has been ma de, and no player ma y physically or verbally distract afree- taker. (A player holding he r hu rley up right do es not consti tute as int erference.)

Pe nalty: A free must be awarded from a point 10 met res near er to the offending player’s go al bu t not within the 20 metre line of that goal.

11.8. If afoulis comm itt ed on a player after she has played the sliot ar, afree must be awarded from where the sliotar lands. a. Sh ould a score have resulted, it must be al lo wed. b. Sh ould the sliotar have crossed the end -line, or landed with in 20 met res of the end -l ine, the free must be awar ded from a point on the 20 metre line opp osite whe re the sliotar land ed. c. Sh ould the sliotar have crossed the side -line , the free must be awarded from the poi nt where the sliotar cros sed , or, if within 20 metres of the end line , it must be aw arded from the 20 metre line .

11.9. Sh ould a player from each team foul at the same ti me, the Re feree must throw in the sliotar be tween two opposi ng players whe re the foul oc curred. If within the 20 metre l ine, the sliotar must be thrown in on the 20 metre line at the poi nt op pos ite where the foul occur red .

11.10. The Referee must exte nd time to comp ensate for any del ibe rate delay in taki ng a fr ee.

Penalty: If aplayerdeliberately delays afree, the Referee will add on addit ional time. Per sis tent del ay in taking the free is regarded as dis sen t. The player’s na me and jersey num ber will be taken by the Referee and a yel low card is issu ed.

11.11. When ateamisawardedafreeandan opposing pla yer shows diss ent the Referee may move the sliotar forward 10 metres.

11.12. 20 Met re Free Sh ould a fo ul be co mmitted on an attacking player within 20 met res of the end-line and outsi de the lar ge pa rall elogra m, the free must be awarded from apointonthe20 metre line opposite where the foul occur red: In the event of a20met re free, sh ould a member of the def end ing team show dissen t or be in breach of Playing Rules 11.7, the free must be awarded f rom a point on the 20 metre line 10 metres nearer to the centre of the goal. If wit hin 10 metres of the cen tre, the free must be taken from apointopp osite the centre.

11.13. Pe nalty Sh ot Sh ould a foul be commit ted on an att ac king player wit hin the large parall elo gram, a penal ty free must be aw arded f rom the centre point of the 20 metre line. Not more than three defe nding players may stand on the goal- line. With the exception of the free- ta ker, all ot her play ers must rem ain outs ide the 20 metre line and outside the semi-c ircle un til the sl iotar has been stru ck.

Sh ould a foul be committ ed by a defending player(s) be fore the sliotar is str uck and a score does not result, the Referee must allow the penal ty free to be ret aken.

11.14. 45 Metre Fr ee Sh ould a player from the def end ing team play the sliotar across the end-line ,the Referee must aw ard a free to the att ac king team from apointon the 45 met re line opposite to w here the sliotar cros sed the end -l ine. The last person touching the sliot ar must be consid ered the last pe rson playing the sl iotar. Sh ould the sliotar strike anyone ot her than aplayer at or near the end -line, and if the Refe ree adjudges that in so doing the sliotar was prevented from go ing out of play, a wide or 45 metre free as ap plicable must be aw arded.

11.15. When a clas hed sliotar cros ses the en d-line it must be regarded as wide.

12. Side-Line Puck 12.1. Sh ould a player play the sliotar across the side -line ,the Referee must award afreegro und pu ck to the opposing team from the point where the sl iotar crossed the line.

12.2. When aclashedsl iotar crosses the sid e-line the Ref eree must throw in the sl iotar betw een two opposing players at the point where the sl iotar crossed the line . If within 20 me ters of the end- line the sl iotar must be thrown in on the 20 metre lin e.

12.3. Sh ould the sliotar strike anyone oth er than aplayer at or near the side- line, and if the Referee adjudges that in so doing the sliotar was prevented from go ing out of play, a free gro und pu ck must be awarded ag ainst the team of the play er who last touched the sl iotar. A ball that strikes a sideline flag or corner flag shall be treated as having crossed the sideline and a free ground puck must be awarded against the team of the player who last touched the sliotar.

12.4. For a side-line puck, once the sliotar has been placed by the player at the spot indicated by the Referee or line-umpire, and the whistle blown, the sliotar may not be re-set except with the express permission of the Referee.

Penalty: If a player advances the sliotar deliberately from the place at which a side-line puck is to be taken, the side-line puck is cancelled. The Referee must throw in the sliotar where the foul occurred as per Rule 9.3 of the Playing Rules. If the breach is within the 20 metre line, the Referee must throw in the sliotar on the 20 metre line.

13. Puck-Out from Goal 13.1. When the sliotar is pla yed over the end-line ,i.e.,wide, by the at tac king team or from a clas hed sliotar cros sing t he end-l ine, the Referee m ust award a puc k-out f rom w it hin the small paral lelo gram to the defending team. A player may go outside the end-line for a run-up to a puck out.

13.2. A player taking the pu ck- out may strike the sliot ar from her hand.

13.3. Sh ould the player taking the puck-out mi ss the sliotar at the first attempt she may a. lift and strike it or b. str ike it on the ground

She may not take it into her hand asecond time. Pe nalty: 45 metre free to the oppos ing team from a point opposi te to where the fo ul occurr ed.

13.4. Aplayer ma ynotpuck-outthe sliotar from outsi de the small parallelogr am ex cept after a score. After ascore the play er must puck out the sliotar wit hout cross ing the 13m line and from within the large parallelogram.

Pe nalty: 45 metre free to the oppos ing team from a point opposi te to where the fo ul occurr ed.

13.5. For all puck-outs the players of the op posing team must remain outside the 20 metre line unt il an attempt to str ike the sl iotar has been made.

13.6. The Referee must ext end time to com pensate for any de liberate de lay in pucking out the sliot ar.

Penalty: If aplayerdeliberately delays a pu ck- out, the Referee will add on extra time. Pers istent delay in taking the puck out is regarded as dis sen t, the player’s name and jersey nu mber be taken by the Referee and a yel low card is issu ed.

14. Small Parallelogram (square ball) 14.1. Sh ould a player of the att acking team enter the small paral lelogram before the slio tar enters it during play, a free out must be given to the defend ing team from the edge of the small paral lelo gram. Sho uld there have be en a score it will be di sal lowed.

Excep tion: Sh ould a point have be en s cored from outside the small parallelog ram it m ust be allo wed provided that the player who had entered the small par allelogram had not inter fered wit h the def ence and that the sl iotar was suff iciently high to be o ut of reach of the defen ce and attack.

14.2. Sh ould a player of the attac king t eam legally en ter the small paralle logram and the slio tar is played away from that ar ea but is returned before the atta cki ng play er has time to lea ve the sm all parall elo gram, she will be deem ed not to have committed a foul.

Sh ould this result in a score, it will be allowed.

14.3. In the event of a free, no player of the attacking team will stand outside the end- line beh ind the sm all parall elo gram.

15. Scores 15.1. A goal is scored when the sliotar is played by either team over the goal-line, between the goal- posts and under the crossbar, except when carried in the hand by an attacking player over the goal-line, or thrown over the goal-line by any player. A goal will be equal to three points.

15.2. Apoint is scored when the sliotar is played by either team ov er the cross bar and be tween the go al- posts, ex cept when thro wn by any player.

15.3. When the sl iotar is played by ateamthrough its own goal or over the crossbar, the score will be aw arded to the opposing te am.

15.4. When the sl iotar is played di rect ly over the crossb ar from a sid e- line sliotar, the sco re will be worth two points , provided it is not touched in flight by any player on the attacking or defending teams.

15.5. Ascorewill be allowed if, in the opinion of the Referee, the sl iotar was preven ted from cros sing the goal-line by anyone other than a player.

15.6. The team with the highest score at full -time will be de emed to be the winner.

15.7. When teams finish with equal scor es at full -time, the match will be declared a draw.

16. Limitations of Liability

These Rules shall not impose on any Referee, Line Umpire, Goal Umpire, Sideline Official, Team Official or Unit any legal duty of care or legal responsibility. Such duty of care shall remain with individual players and, if relevant, parents, guardians or other persons legally responsible for them.

17. Team Composition 17.1. Ateam must be compris ed of twe lve players who must be aff iliated and regi ster ed members of An Cumann Camó gaío chta in ac cordance with the Rules. Eligibi lity to play in a comp etit ion will be de termined by the Rules and app roved bye-laws.

17.2. The team lin e-out must be as follows: agoalkeep er, one full-b ack, three half -backs, three cent refield players, three half-for wards and a fu ll-for ward.

17.3. Each team must have at least nine players to commence the game. The game may be continu ed or finish ed with less than nine pl ayers a-si de .Playersma ybead ded to a team du ring a stop page in play on notifying the Referee in writin g. Such players must be on the team list gi ven to Referee.

18. Substitution 18.1. Subs titution means the replacing dur ing agameorat hal f-time of any of the twelve players of a tea m, oth er than a player dismi ssed from the field of play by the Re feree. Only three subst itutions pe r te am will be all owed. A substi tution ma yonlybema de dur ing a sto ppage in play or on notifying, in writing, the Referee.

Ateam whi ch ma kes more than three sub stitu tions must forfeit the game to its oppon ents.

19. The Pitch

19.1. The pit ch must be rectan gular, from 95 metres to 11 0 met res long and from 60 – 80 metres wide.

The bound aries must be marked by a dis tinctive line and the fo ur corn ers indi cated by flags.

19.2. For all In ter-Cou nty, Inter-Provincial and All-I reland Club Champi onship matches, maximum pitch mea surem ents, i.e., 110 x 80 metr es must be used.

19.3. Lines indicating 15 metr es and 30 met res from ea ch end -line, and the hal f-way l ine ,must be marked. The poi nts where these lin es jo in each sid e-line must be ind icated by flags.

19.4. Equ idis tant from each corner on the end-l ines will stand two up right goalpost s, 4.5 metres ap art and 6 metres high. There must be a crossb ar 2 metres from the grou nd joining the goal- posts to form a goal-space.

19.5. 2metresoutsideeachgoal-post aline4met res long must be ma rked at right angles to the go al-line. The end of these lines must be joined to form a paral lelogram 8.5 metr es x 4 metres in front of the scoring space.

20. Rules of Play

20 .1. No player may app roach wit hin 10 metres of a free-taker until an atte mpt to strike the sliotar has been ma de, and no player may physi cally or verbally dist ract a free-taker. A player holding her hurley upright will not constitu te an interfe rence.

Pe nalty: The free willl be awarded from apoint10metres near er to the offend ing player’s go al bu t not within the 10 me tre line of that goal.

20 .2. Where a player from the defend ing team plays the sl iotar across the end -l ine the Referee must aw ard a free to the att acking team from a po int on the 30 metre line opp osite to whe re the sliotar crossed the end-line .

The last player touch ing the sliotar will be considered the last pe rson playing the sliotar.

20 .3. Wh ere the sliotar strikes anyo ne oth er than a player at or near the end -line, and if the Refe ree adjudges that in so doing the sliotar was prevented from go ing out of play, a wide or 30 metre free as ap plicable must be aw arded.

20 .4. When aclashedsl iotar crosses the sid e-line the Refe ree must throw in the sl iotar betw een two opposing players at the point where the sliotar cross ed. If wit hin 15 metres of the end-line the sliotar will be thrown in on the 15 met re lin e.

21. Fouls

21.1. If afoulis co mmitt ed on a player aft er she has played the sliot ar, afreewill be awarded from where the sliotar lands. If a s core sho uld ha ve r esult ed, it will be allowed. If the sliotar has crossed the end-line or has land ed within 15 me ters of the end line, the free will be aw arded from a po int on the 15 metre line opposi te to where the sliot ar landed. Where the sliotar has crossed the side-l ine, the free will be awar ded f rom the point where the slio tar cros sed that side- line or, if within 15 met res of the end-li ne, it wi ll be awar ded from the 15 metre line.

21.2. Wh ere a player from each team fo uls at the same tim e, the Ref eree w ill throw in the sliotar be tween two opp osing play ers wh ere the foul occur red. If wit hin the 15 metre line, the sliotar will be thrown in on the 15 met re at apointopposite whe re the foul oc curre d.
