2016 Boston Marathon. The annual event is scheduled to take place on Patriots' Day, Monday, April 18,

2016. Customers are urged to take public transportation to and from the Marathon and are advised to check

In preparation for Marathon Monday, the MBTA will enhance service to rush-hour levels before and after the race on April 18. Pre-marathon events are also scheduled the weekend before the race, which will result in adjustments to various bus routes in and around Copley Square. On Marathon Monday, various bus routes on both the North and South sides will be detoured.

Due to congestion, bikes are not allowed on any MBTA vehicles on Patriots' Day.

Subway

Temporary Green Line Station Closures (10 a.m. - approximately 6 p.m.)

For the safety of our customers, will be closed for the entire day on April 18, 2016. The following above-ground Green Line stations will be closed between 10 a.m. and approximately 6 p.m. on Marathon Monday: • South Street • Kent Street • St. Mary's Street

Pedestrian crossings will be available at the intersections of Beacon Street and Tappan Street (near Washington Square), Beacon Street and Webster Street (near Coolidge Corner), and Beacon Street and Hawes Street.

• The Red Line will operate a regular weekday schedule with rush-hour levels of service before and after the race.

• The Orange Line will operate a regular weekday schedule with rush-hour levels of service before and after the race.

• The Blue Line will operate a regular weekday schedule with rush-hour levels of service before and after the race.

• The Silver Line will operate a regular weekday schedule except for the SL5. Tremont Street will be closed from 5 a.m. until approximately 10:30 a.m. During this time, Silver Line SL5- Downtown Crossing/Temple Street service will terminate at Avenue De Lafayatte. There will be no service to Temple Place or Tremont Street between Park and Boylston Streets. Bus stop connections can be made at Chinatown Station (Washington and Essex Streets) or at Tufts Medical Center Station on Washington Street.

• The Green B-, C-, D-, and E-Branches will operate a regular weekday schedule with rush-hour levels of service before and after the race. Copley Station will be CLOSED. The Berkley Street entrance/exit of Arlington Station will remain closed.

Commuter Rail

• The Fairmount Line will operate a regular weekday schedule. • The Fitchburg/South Acton Line will operate a regular weekday schedule. • The Framingham/Worcester Line will operate a regular weekday schedule. • The Franklin Line will operate a regular weekday schedule. • The Greenbush Line will operate a regular weekday schedule. • The Haverhill Line will operate a regular weekday schedule. • The Kingston/Plymouth Line will operate a regular weekday schedule. • The Lowell Line will operate a regular weekday schedule. • The Middleborough/Lakeville Line will operate a regular weekday schedule. • The Needham Line will operate a regular weekday schedule. • The Newburyport/Rockport Line will operate a regular weekday schedule. • The Providence/Stoughton Line will operate a regular weekday schedule.

All bikes (including folding bikes) will be prohibited onboard trains on Monday, April 18.

Several Marathon-related events will take place during the weekend prior to Marathon Monday, which will affect some bus routes. Bus routes affected by Marathon-related events are listed below.

Saturday, April 16, 2016 Boylston Street will be closed all day. Routes 9, 39, and 55 will be detoured from Boylston Street

Route 9: Will terminate at at Dartmouth Street. There will be no service to Huntington Avenue, Ring Road, Boylston Street, or Arlington Street between Boylston and Stuart Streets.

Bus stop connections can be made at Back Bay Station or Arlington and Isabella Streets.

Route 39:

Inbound bus stop connections can be made at Back Bay Station and Clarendon Street or Huntington and Massachusetts Avenues. Outbound bus stop connections can be made at Back Bay Station and Clarendon Street or Huntington Avenue and Evans Way.

Route 55 (inbound): Will not service Boylston Street between Dalton and Arlington Streets.

Inbound bus stop connections can be made at Boylston and Saint Cecilia's Streets or at Saint James Avenue. Outbound: Outbound service is not impacted and will run its regular route. During the Boston Athletic Association 5K, some roads will be closed from approximately 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. Route 43 will be detoured during this time.

Route 43: Will terminate at Tremont and Stuart Streets from approximately 5 a.m. to 12 p.m.with no service to Charles Street, Charles Street South, Beacon Street, Park Street, Tremont Street, Park Street Station, or Boylston Street Station.

Bus stop connections can be made at Tremont and Stuart Streets or at 285 Tremont Street.

Sunday, April 17, 2016 Boylston Street will be closed all day. Routes 9, 39, and 55 will be detoured from Boylston Street

Route 9: Will terminate at Back Bay Station at Dartmouth Street. There will be no service to Huntington Avenue, Ring Road, Boylston Street, or Arlington Street between Boylston and Stuart Streets.

Bus stop connections can be made at Back Bay Station or Arlington and Isabella Streets.

Route 39:

Monday, April 18, 2016 - Patriots' Day/Marathon Monday

Buses and trackless trolleys will operate a weekday schedule unless specifically noted below.

Some bus routes will be detoured due to the Marathon and other Patriots' Day race events. The approximate time for most street closures is 8 a.m. through 6:30 p.m.

There will be no bus service to Cleveland Circle Station (Green Line C-Branch), Reservoir Station (Green Line D-Branch), the Kenmore Square area, Brookline Avenue, Boylston Street, or the Copley Square area. There will be no service to Huntington Avenue (westbound/outbound) from St. James Street to Massachusetts Avenue. From the start of service until approximately 10:30 a.m., there will be no service to Temple Place, Charles Street, Beacon Street, or Tremont Street (Boston Common).

The following routes will be detoured at certain times during Marathon Monday to prevent disruption to the race or other Patriots' Day events: Route 8: There will be no service to Brookline Avenue between Park Drive and . Bus stop connections can be made at Brookline Avenue and Pilgrim Road or at Brookline Avenue and the Fenway.

Route 9: Will terminate at Berkeley Street and Columbus Avenue. Bus stop connections can be made at Berkeley Street and Columbus Avenue or Arlington and Isabella Streets.

Route 10: Bus stop connections can be made at Back Bay Station and Clarendon Street.

Route 39: Inbound: Will terminate at Back Bay Station at Clarendon Street. There will be no inbound service to Belvedere, Dalton, or Boylston Streets. Outbound: There will be no outbound service to Saint James or Huntington Avenues between Dartmouth Avenue and Louis Prang Street. Inbound bus stop connections can be made at Huntington and Massachusetts Avenues or at Stuart and Dartmouth Streets. Outbound connections can be made at Back Bay Station on Clarendon Street, , or at Huntington Avenue at Evans Way.

Route 43: Tremont Street will be closed between 5:00 a.m. and approximately 10:30 a.m. During this time, there will be no service to Charles Street, Beacon Street, Park Street Station, Tremont Street, or Boylston Street Station. Bus stop connections can be made at Charles Street South and Boylston Street or at 285 Tremont Street.

Route 47: There will be no service on Park Drive between Brookline Avenue and the BU Bridge. Inbound bus stop connections can be made at Granite Street and Brookline Street in Cambridge. Outbound bus stop connections can be made at Brookline Avenue and the Fenway.

Route 55: The entire route is completely suspended until the completion of the Marathon. Customers can utilize the Route 8 or Route 47 for service to the Orange Line at Ruggles Station.

Route 57: There will be no service to Kenmore Station or to Commonwealth Avenue between Kenmore and the BU Bridge. Outbound bus stop connections can be made at Commonwealth Avenue and Buick Street. For service between Kenmore and Buick Street, customers are encouraged to take the Green Line. Inbound bus stop connections can be made at Commonwealth Avenue and St. Paul Street Station. For service beyond St. Paul Street, customers are encouraged to take the Green Line.

Route 59: There will be no service on Walnut Street between Newton Highlands and Newtonville. Inbound and Outbound bus stop connections can be made at Newton Highlands or at Walnut Street and Newtonville Avenue.

Route 60: There will be no service to Brookline Avenue between Park Drive and Kenmore Station. Bus stop connections can be made at Brookline Avenue and Pilgrim Road or Brookline Avenue and the Fenway.

Route 65: Brighton Center to Corey Street: inbound connections can be made at Victoria Smith House, Chestnut Hill Ave. The last inbound stop is Corey St @ Washington St. Outbound connections can be made at Washington St @ Euston Rd. There will be no outbound service on Washington St between School St & Euston Rd. Landmark Center/Fenway to School St/Brookline Village: Outbound connections can be made at Park Dr & Brookline Ave by the Landmark Center. The last stop on Washington St prior to School St. Inbound connections can be made at Harvard St @ Washington St, Brookline Village. No outbound service on Washington St from School St to opposite Euston Rd. There will be no inbound service on Washington St from Corey Rd to Brookline Village.

Route 66: There will be no service on Harvard Street between Union Square in Allston and Brookline Village. Service will run between Cambridge Street in Union Square, Brighton, to Harvard Square as well as from Brookline Village at Boylston Street to Dudley Square.

Route 86: There will be no service to Cleveland Circle Station (Green Line C- Branch)/Reservoir Station (Green Line D-Branch) or Chestnut Hill Avenue between Cleveland Circle and Winship Street. Inbound and Outbound bus stop connections can be made at Winship Street in Brighton.

Route 502: The entire route is completely suspended for the entire day.

Route 503: The entire route is completely suspended for the entire day.

Route 504: There will be no service to Stuart Street or the Copley Square area. All Route 504 buses will go directly to Federal and Franklin Streets.

Silver Line SL5: Tremont Street will be closed from 5:00 a.m. until approximately 10:30 a.m. During this time, Silver Line-Downtown Crossing/Temple Street service will terminate at Avenue De Lafayette. There will be no service to Temple Place or Tremont Street between Park and Boylston Streets. Bus stop connections can be made at Chinatown Station (Washington and Essex Streets) or at Tufts Medical Center Station on Washington Street.

Boat

• Hingham Service (Hingham Shipyard - Rowes Wharf) will operate a regular weekday schedule. • Hull Service (Hingham, Hull - Long Wharf, Boston via Logan Airport) will operate a regular weekday schedule. • Charlestown Service (Long Wharf - Charlestown Navy Yard) will operate a regular weekday schedule.

Customers should note that all MBTA parking garages will be pay-on-entry and cash-only on Patriots' Day, April 18, in order to ensure all customers exit in a timely manner. Due to heavy parking demand, some MBTA parking garages and lots may fill more quickly than normal. Customers planning to park in an MBTA garage or lot should plan accordingly.
